F 32.5" Undersideof Countertop to Floor /[ Countertop CLEARANCES: When installed into a corner, allow 2" rain. clearance between dishwasher and 17-5/8"Min. 18"Max. Square and Plumb adjacent cabinet,wall or other appliances.Allow 25-5/8" rain. clearance from the front of the dishwasher for door 25-5/8" opening. FigureB • The roughcabinet openingmust be at least 24" deepand 17-5/8" to 18" wide. The openingshouldbe 32.5" max. height. Method 1 - Air Gap with Waste Tee or Disposer • Followlocalcodesand ordinances. • Do not exceed10 feet distanceto drain. • Do not connectdrainlinesfrom otherdevicesto the dishwasherdrain hose. • Dishwasher mustbeconnectedto waste linewith an air gap (notsupplied)or 32" minimumhighdrain loop,dependingon localcodesandordinances to preventbackflow intothe dishwasher. • Air gap must be used if waste tee or disposerconnectionis less than 18" abovethe floor to prevent siphoning. DRAIN PREPARATION Figure C Method 2 - High Drain with Waste Tee or Disposer Providea method to attach drain hoseto undersideof countertop. The typeof drain installationdependson answersto the following questions: [] Do localcodesor ordinances requireanair gap? [] Will waste tee or disposerconnection be lessthan 18" abovethe floor? [] Will installation havea drainlooplessthan 32" abovefloor? If the answerto ANY of the 3 questionsaboveisYES, Method 1 MUST be used. Figure D CAUTION: Install waste tee or disposerand air gap accordingto manufacturer'sinstructions. An air gap MUSTBE USEDif the drain hoseisconnectedto waste tee or disposerlower than 18" abovethe floor. CABINET PREPARATION Failureto providethe proper drain connectionheightwith air gap or 32" minimum,high drain loop will result in improperdraining of the dishwasher. • Drilla 1-1/2" dia. hole in the cabinet wall within the shaded areasshown in FigureA for the drain hoseconnection.The hole shouldbe smoothwith no sharp edges. Installation PREPARE ELECTRICAL Preparation WIRING / FORPERSONALSAFETY:Removehousefuse or opencircuit breakerbeforebeginning installation. Oonot use an extensioncord or adapterplug with this appliance. WARNING I I I I I I \ \ \\ 1-1/2" Dia. Hole(Max.) Electrical Requirements = This appliancemustbesuppliedwith 120V, 60 Hz.,and connectedto an individualproperlygroundedbranchcircuit, protectedby a 15 or 20 amperecircuit breakeror timedelay fuse. from Cabinet • Wiringmust be 2 wire with ground. • If the electrical supply doesnot meet the aboverequirements, call a licensedelectricianbefore proceeding. Figure E White Cabinet Preparation & Wire Routing • Thewiring may enterthe openingfrom eitherside, rear or the floor within theshadedarea. • Cut a 1-1/2" max.dia. holeto admit the electricalcable.The hole must be free of sharpedges.If the cabinet wall is metal,the hole edgemust be coveredwith a bushing. • Cabledirect connectionsmay passthrough the same hole as the drain hoseand hot water line, if convenient.If cabinet wall is metal, the hole edgemust be coveredwith a bushing. NOTE: Powercords with plug must passthrough a separate hole. Grounding Instructions - Cable Direct Thisappliance mustbe connected to a groundedmetal,permanent wiring system, or anequipmentgrounding conductor mustberun with the circuitconductors andbe connected to the equipment grounding terminalor leadonthe appliance. Grounding Instructions - Power Cord Models This appliancemustbegrounded. In theeventof a malfunctionor breakdown,grounding will reducethe risk of electrical shock by providinga path of least resistancefor electric current.The plug must be pluggedinto an appropriateoutlet that is installedand groundedin accordancewith local codes and ordinances. Electrical Connection to Dishwasher Electricalconnection is onthe right front of dishwasher. • Forcabledirect connections the cablemustberoutedas shown in FigureE. Cablemust extenda minimumof 24" from the rear wall. WARNING The improperconnection of theequipment grounding conductorcan result in a risk of electric shock. Checkwith a qualified electrician or servicerepresentativeif you are in doubtthat the applianceis properly grounded. • For power cordconnections,install a 3-prong groundingtype receptacle.The power-supplyreceptaclefor the applianceshall be installed in a cabinet or on a wall adjacentto the undercounterspacein which the applianceis to be installed. 4 Installation PREPARE HOT WATER Instructions LINE BEFORE YOU BEGIN • The line may enter from eitherside, rear or floor within the shadedarea shown in FigureF. • The line may passthrough the same hole as the electrical cableand drain hose.Or, cut an additional1-1/2" dia. holeto accommodatethe water line. If power cord with plug is used,water line must not pass throughpower cord hole. Locate and set asidethe packagecontaining 2 Phillips headcountertop mountingscrews and 2 additionaltoekick screws (located in the literature package). Decrease From Cabinet Cabinet Face 3" From Floor Figure F Water Line Connection • Turn off the water supply. • Install a handshut-off valve in an accessiblelocation,such as underthe sink. (Optional,but strongly recommendedand may be requiredby local codes.) • Water connectionis on the left sideof the dishwasher.Install the hot water inlet line, usingno less than 3/8" O.D.copper tubing. Routethe line as shown in FigureF and extend forward at least 18" from rear wall. • Adjust water heaterfor 120°F to 150°F temperature. • Flushwater line to cleanout debris. • The hot water supply line pressuremust be 20-120 PSI. CAUTION: Openingthe doorwill causethe dishwasher to tip forward. Do not open the door until you are ready to install the dishwasher. If it is necessary to openthe door,holdthe ,/_ top of the dishwashersecurelywith one handandholdthe doorwith the other hand. ( Figure G • Openthe doorslowly, if the door dropswhen released, increasespring tension. If the door closeswhen released, decreasetension. • Pull the springadjustmentpin out of the holes,insert in the next highest or lowest hole andtest again. • Adjust both door springsto the sametension. • Continuemovingthe spring pin until door is balanced. Installation [ STEP 21 ADJUST LEVELING Instructions LEGS lSTEP 4] INSTALL • Move the dishwasherclose to the installation location and lay it on its back. 90 ° ELBOW • Wrap90 ° elbow with thread seal tape. • Install a 90° elbowonto the water valve. [STEP31 REMOVE Figure L Thread Seal Tape • Do not overtighten 90 ° elbow, water valve bracketcould bendor water valve fitting could break. • Positionthe end of the elbow to face the rear of the dishwasher. TOEKICK • Removethe 4 toekick screws. Lift off the 2 piecetoekick. Figure J 6 Installation Instructions [ STEP 51POSITION WATER LINE AND HOUSE WIRING l STEP 7 ISLIDE DISHWASHER PARTIALLY INTO CABINET • Positionwater supply line and housewiring on the floor of the openingto avoid interferencewith baseof dishwasherand componentsunder dishwasher. DO NOT PUSH AGAINST FRONT PANEL WITH KNEES. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. Line HouseWiring DoNot PushAgainst Front Door PanelWith Knee. Damageto The Door Panel Will Occur. Figure M [STEP 61INSERT DRAIN HOSE THROUGH CABINET • Insert drainhoseinto cabinet wall hole. If a power cord is used,guidethe end througha separatehole. _ • Slide dishwasherinto the openinga few inchesat a time. Figure 0 • As you proceed,pull the drain hosethroughthe openingunder the sink. Stop pushingwhenthe dishwasheris a few inches forward of adjacentcabinetry. • Make sure drain hoseis not kinked underthe dishwasherand there is no interferencewith the water line and wiring or any other component. Installation [STEP 81 POSITION DISHWASHER Instructions UNDER COUNTERTOP • Checkto be sure that wires are secure underthe dishwasher and not pinchedor in contact with door springsor other dishwasher components. / , \ Reposition Dishwasher by Grasping Both With Hands TIP: Checktub insulation blanket, if equipped.It shouldbe positionedso it is not bunchedup or interfering with door springs.Checkby openingand closingthe door. • Pushdishwasherinto cabinet.The front cornersof the dishwasherdoor should be flush with cabinet doors. Be careful not to dent front panelswith kneesor damage countertopor cabinetswith dishwasherparts. Do Not PushAgainst_ Front Door Panel With _. Knee. Damage to The \ Door PanelWill Occur. Figure P • Levelthe dishwasherby adjustingthe four leveling legs individually. [ STEP 9 1 LEVEL DISHWASHER IMPORTANT -Oishwasher must be levelfor properdishrackoperationandwash performance. • Placelevel on door and rack track inside thetub as shown to checkthat the dishwasher is level. / \ Turn to Adj Figure R TIP: Pull lower rack out, about halfway. Checkto be surethe rack doesnot roll forward or back into dishwasher.If the rack rolls in Figure Q to B_ ___S either direction,the dishwashermust be leveledagain. • If door hits the tub, the dishwasheris not installed correctly. Adjust levelinglegsto align door to tub. _i_ e 8 Installation Instructions [ STEP 101SECURE DISHWASHER TO CABINET lSTEP 11 ICONNECT SUPPLY The dishwashermust besecuredto the countertop. • Positionthe dishwasherso that the tub flange alignswith the front face of the cabinet frame. Connectwater supply to 90 ° elbow. • Slide compressionnut, then ferrule over end of water line. • Insert water line into 90° elbow. WATER • Slide ferrule against elbow and securewith compressionnut. IMPORTANT: Checkto be surethe dishwasheris centeredin the openingand there is no interferencewith adjacentcabinets when openingor closingthe door. IMPORTANT- Drive screws straight and flush. Protrudingscrew headswill scratch the top of the control paneland can interfere with door closing. Checkto besurethat doorspringdoesnot rubor contactthe fill hoseor water supply line.Testby openingandclosingthe door.Re-routethe linesif a rubbing noiseor interferenceoccurs. Installation [STEP 12 ICONNECT DRAIN Instructions DRAIN LINE FOLLOW ALL LOCAL CODES AND ORDINANCES. LINE INSTALLATION • Connectdrainlineto air gap,waste tee or disposer usingeither previouslydeterminedmethod. The drain hosemoldedend will fit 5/8", 3/4" or 1" diameter connectionson the air gap, waste tee or disposer.Cut on the markedline as requiredfor your installation. Use5/8" or 7/8" insidediameterhoseand a couplerto connectthe two hose ends. IMPORTANT NOTE: TOTAL DRAINHOSELENGTHMUSTNOT EXCEED 10 FEETFORPROPERDRAINOPERATION. - Whenconnectingdrain lineto disposer, checkto be surethat drain plughasbeen removed.DISHWASHER WILLNOT DRAIN IF PLUGIS LEFTIN PLACE. _ emove Disposer Plug TIP: Avoid unnecessaryservicecall charges.Always be sure disposerdrain plug has beenremovedbefore attaching dishwasher drain hoseto the disposer. 10 Installation [STEP 13 ICONNECT SUPPLY Instructions POWER ISTEP 14 IPRE-TEST CHECKLIST Review this list after installing your dishwasher to avoid charges for a service call that is not covered by your warranty. Skip this step if equipped with power cord, Verify that power is turned off at the source, • Removejunction box cover "A". • Locatethe three dishwasherwires, (white, black and green) with stripped ends.Insert dishwasherwires through the small hole in the junction box"B'. • Securehousewiring to the bottom of the junction boxwith a strain relief "C'. [] Checkto be sure power is OFF. • User wire nuts to connectincominggroundto green,white to white and black to black "O". • Replacejunction box cover "E". Checkto be surethat wires are not pinchedunderthe cover. [] Checkdoor openingandclosing.If door doesnot openand close freely or tends to fall, checkspring adjustments.See Step 1. [] Opendoor and removeall foam and paperpackaging. [] Locatethe Owner'sManualin the literature package. [] Readthe Owner's Manualfor operatinginstructions. [] Checkto be sure that wiring is secureunder the dishwasher, not pinchedor in contact with door springsor other components.SeeStep 9. E. ReplaceJunction Box Cover [] Checkdoor alignmentwith tub. If door hits tub, level dishwasher.See Step 10. If housewiring is not 2-wire with ground, a groundmust be providedby the installer. Checkto be sureit does not roll back or forward on the door.If the rack moves,adjust levelinglegs. See Step 10. [] Verify water supply and drain lines are not kinked or in contact with other components.Contact with motor or dishwasherframe could causenoise. SeeStep 8. [] Turn on the sink hot water faucet and verify water temperature.Incomingwater temperaturemust be between 120°F and 150°F. A minimumof 120°F temperatureis requiredfor best wash performance.See"PrepareHot Water Line",page5. [] Add 2 quarts of water to the bottom of the dishwasherto lubricate the pumpseal. [] Turn on water supply. Checkfor leaks.Tighten connections if needed. [] Removeprotective film if presentfrom the control paneland door. 11 Installation [STEP 151DISHWASHER WET TEST Instructions ISTEP 161REPLACE TOEKICK [] Turnonpowersupply(orplugpowercordintooutlet, if equipped). [] Turndialto Normal"Wash" position. [] Closedoor. [] Checkto be surethat water entersthe dishwasher.If water doesnot enterthe dishwasher,checkto besurethat water andpowerare turnedon. [] Checkfor leaksunderthe dishwasher.If a leakis found,turn power supplyoff, then tighten connections.Restorepowerafter leakis corrected. [] Checkfor leaksaroundthe door.A leakaroundthe door couldbe causedby doorrubbingor hitting againstadjacentcabinetry.Reposition the dishwasherif necessary.SeeStep 9. o kiok [] Thedishwasherwill drainandturn off about5 to 7 minutesafter the first fill. Checkdrain lines.If leaksarefound,turn poweroff at the breakerandcorrectplumbingasnecessary.Restorepowerafter corrections aremade.SeeStep 12. [] Opendishwasherdoorandmakesuremost of the water has drained. If not, checkthat disposerplughasbeenremovedand/orair gapis not plugged.SeeStep 13. Alsocheckdrainlinefor kinking. [] Runthe dishwasherthroughanotherfill anddrain cycle.Checkfor leaksandcorrect if required. [] At the endof drain, opendoor andturn dialto OFFposition. ql Adjust_ orDowr_ FigureY • Place2-piecetoekickagainst the legs of the dishwasher. • Placethe innertoekick piece(with slots) against the toekick bracket. The slots shouldalign with toekick bracket screw holes.Allow the toekick to touch the floor. • Placelarger toekick over the inner pieceand install 4 toekick screws. • Use additional2 screws that are providedfor installations over 33-1/2" high. • Use both toekick piecesfor all installation heights. STEP 171 LITERATURE Be sure to leave complete literature package and installation instructions with consumer.
