CChannel TTuning ((Command: mm aa)To tune channel to following physical/major/minor number.Transmission [m][a][ ][Set ID][ ][Data0][ ][Data1] [ ][Data2][ ][Data3][ ][Data4][ ][Data5][Cr]Digital channels have a Physical, Major, and Minor channelnumber. The Physical number is the actual digital channelnumber, the Major is the number that the channel shouldbe mapped to, and the Minor is the sub-channel. Sincethe ATSC tuner automatically maps the channel to theMajor number, the Physical number is not required whensending a command.Data 0: Physical Channel NumberNTSC air: 02~45, NTSC cable: 01, 0E~7DATSC air: 01~45, ATSC cable: 01~87Data1 & 2: Major Channel Number Data1: High byte Data2: Low byteTwo bytes are available for the Major and Minor, nor-mally only the second byte is used. Data3 & 4: Minor Channel Number Not needed for NTSC.
APPENDIX127Data5:The table above lists the binary code which must beconverted to Hexadecimal before sending. For example:The binary code to tune the sub source to an NTSCcable channel is “1000 0001”, which translates to “81”in Hex.* 7th bit : For which source do you want to change thechannel.* 6th bit: Use a two part or one part channel. Most casesjust use 0 since it’s ignored when using NTSC.* 5th bit: Use 0 with NTSC since it can only use the phys-ical channel number. Normally use 1 for ATSC since mosttimes it doesn’t matter what the physical number is.* 4th bit: Set to 0.* 3-0 bits: Choose signal type.* Tune Command Examples:1. Regulatory Information cont. 02Why do we have environmentally labelled computers? In many countries, environmental labelling has become anestablished method for encouraging the adaptation ofgoods and services to the environment. The main problemas far as computers and other electronic equipment areconcerned is that environmentally harmful substances areused both in the products and during their manufacture.Since it has not been possible so far for the majority ofelectronic equipment to be recycled in a satisfactory way, most of these potentially damaging substances sooner orlater enter Nature. There are also other characteristics of a computer, such asenergy consumption levels, that are important from boththe working and natural environment viewpoints. Since alltypes of conventional electricity generation have anegative effect on the environment (acidic- and climatic-influencing emissions, radioactive waste, etc.), it is vital toconserve energy. Electronic equipment in officesconsumes as enormous amount of energy, since it is oftenroutinely left running continuously. What does the environmenal labelling involve? This product meets the requirements for the TCO’95 scheme, which provides for international environmentallabelling of personal computers. The labelling scheme wasdeveloped as a joint effort by the TCO (The SwedishConfederation of Professional Employees), Naturckyddsföreningen (The Swedish Society for NatureConservation), and NUTEK (The National Board forIndustrial and Technical Development in Sweden), andSEMKO AB (an international certification agency). The requirements cover a wide range of issues: environment, ergonomics, usability, emission of electricaland magnetic fields, energy consumption and electricaland fire safety. The environmental demands concern, among other things, restriction on the presence and use of heavy metals, brominated and chlorinated flame retardants, CFCs(freons), and chlorinated solvents. The product must beprepared for recycling, and the manufacturer is obliged tohave an environmental plan, which must be adhered to ineach country where the company implements its operational policy. The energy requirements include a demand that thecomputer and/or display, after a certain period of inactivity, shall reduce its power consumption to a lower level, in oneor more stages. The length of time to reactivate thecomputer shall be reasonable for the user.Labelled products must meet strict environmentaldemands, for example, in respect of the reduction ofelectric and magnetic fields, along with physical and visualergonomics and good usability. The following is a brief summary of the environmentalrequirements met by this product. The completeenvironmental criteria document may be ordered from:TCO Development UnitLinnegatan 14, S-11494 Stockholm, SwedenFAX +46-8 782 92 07E-mail (Internet): development@tco.seCurrent information regarding TCO’95 approved andlabelled products may also be obtained on the Internetusing the address: http://www.tco-info.com/TCO’95 is a co-operative project between:Environmental requirementsBrominated flame retardants are present in printed circuitboards, cabling, casings, and housings, and are added todelay the spread of fire. Up to 30% of the plastic in acomputer casing can consist of flame-retardantsubstances. These are related to another group ofenvironmental toxins, PCBs, and are suspected of givingrise to similar harm, including reproductive damage in fish-eating birds and mammals. Flame retardants have beenfound in human blood, and researchers fear that they candisturb fetus development.Bio-accumulative1TCO’95 demands require that plasticcomponents weighing more than 25 grams must notcontain flame retardants with organically bound chlorine orbromine.Lead can be found in picture tubes, display screens, solder, and capacitors. Lead damages the nervoussystem and in higher doses causes lead poisoning. The NUTEKNaturskyddsföreningenNärings- och teknikutvecklingsverket SEMKO
Regulatory Information cont. 03relevant bio-accumulative TCO’95 requirement permitsthe inclusion of lead, as no replacement has yet beendeveloped.Cadmium is present in rechargeable batteries and in thecolor-generating layers of certain computer displays.Cadmium damages the nervous system and is toxic inhigh doses. The relevant bio-accumulative TCO’95requirement states that batteries may not contain morethan 25 ppm (parts per million) of cadmium. The color-generating layers of display screens must not contain anycadmium.Mercury is sometimes found in batteries, relays andswitches. Mercury damages the nervous system and istoxic in high doses. The relevant bio-accumulative TCO’95requirement states that batteries may not contain morethan 25 ppm of mercury and that no mercury is present inany of the electrical or electronic components concernedwith the display unit.CFCs (freons) are sometimes used for washing printedcircuit boards and in the manufacture of expanded foamfor packaging. CFCs break down ozone and therebydamage the ozone layer in the atmosphere, causingincreased reception on Earth of ultra-violet light withconsequent increased risks of skin cancer (malignantmelanoma). The relevant TCO’95 requirement: NeitherCFCs nor HCFCs may be used during the manufacture ofthe product or its packaging.1Bio-accumulative means that the substance accumulateswithin living organisms.Shipping PackageThe packaging material can be recycled, or you can saveit to return the monitor to a service center for repair ordisposal.CFC Compounds in Distribution PackagingCushioning material used for shipping finished monitorsare not manufactured with nor do they contain any CFCcompounds.Design for Disassembly/RecyclingThese monitors have been designed for easy end-of-lifedisassembly and recycling. Fasteners are generally of thesame type for efficient disassembly. Components made ofdifferent materials can be easily separated and plasticshave been identified using intermational symbols to aid inrecycling.Monitor DisposalTCO'99 (TCO'99 applied model only)Congratulations! You have just purchased a TCO’99 approved and labelledproduct! Your choice has provided you with a productdeveloped for professional use. Your purchase has alsocontributed to reducing the burden on the environment andalso to the further development of environmentallyadapted electronics products. Why do we have environmentally labelled computers? In many countries, environmental labelling has become anestablished method for encouraging the adaptation ofgoods and services to the environment. With the growingmanufacture and usage of electronic equipmentthroughout the world, there is a recognized concern for thematerials and substances used by electronic productswith regards to their eventual recycling and disposal. Byproper selection of these materials and substances, theimpact on the environment can be minimized. There are also other characteristics of a computer, such asenergy consumption levels, that are important from theviewpoints of both the work (internal) and natural (external)environments. Electronic equipment in offices is often leftrunning continuously, resulting in unnecessaryconsumption of large amounts of energy and additionalpower generation. From the standpoint of carbon dioxideemissions alone, it is vital to save energy. What does labelling involve? The product meets the requirements for the TCO’99scheme which provides for international and environmentallabelling of personal computers and/or displays. The labelling scheme was developed as a joint effort by the TCO (The Swedish Confederation of ProfessionalEmployees), Svenska Naturskyddsforeningen (The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation) andStatens Energimyndighet (The Swedish NationalEnergy Administration).WARNINGIf you need to dispose of a monitor, ask a qualified servicerepresentative for the proper procedure. Improper disposal couldresult in personal injury from implosion.
Regulatory Information cont. 04Approval requirements cover a wide range of issues:ecology, ergonomics, emission of electrical andmagnetical fields, energy consumption and electricalsafety.Ecological criteria impose restrictions on the presence anduse of heavy metals, brominated and chlorinated flameretardants, and other substances. The product must beprepared for recycling and the manufacturing site(s) shallbe certified according to ISO14001 or EMAS registered.Energy requirements include a demand that the systemunit and/or display, after a certain period of inactivity, shall reduce its power consumption to a lower level in oneor more stages. The length of time to reactivate the systemunit shall be reasonable for the user.Labelled products must meet strict environmentaldemands, for example, in respect of the reduction ofelectrical and magnetical fields as well as work load andvisual ergonomics.Below you will find a brief summary of the ecologicalrequirements met by this product. Their purpose is toprevent, or at least to delay the spread of fire. Up to 30%by weight of the plastic in a computer casing can consist offlame retardant substances. Many flame retardantscontain bromine or chlorine, and these flame retardantsare chemically related to PCBs (polychlorinatedbiphenyls). Both the flame retardants containing bromineor chlorine and the PCBs are suspected of giving rise tohealth effects, including reproductive damage in fish-eatingbirds and mammals, due to the bio-accumulative*processes when not disposed of in accordance with strictstandards for disposal.TCO’99 requires that plastic components weighing morethan 25 grams shall not contain flame retardants withorganically bound bromine or chlorine. Flame retardantsare allowed in the printed wiring board laminates due tothe lack of commercially available alternatives.Cadmium**Cadmium is present in rechargeable batteries and in thecolour-generating layers of certain computer displays.TCO’99 requires that batteries, the colour-generatinglayers of display screens, and the electrical or electronicscomponents shall not contain any cadmium.Mercury**Mercury is sometimes found in batteries, relays andswitches. TCO’99 requires that batteries shall not containany mercury. It also demands that mercury is not presentin any of the electrical or electronics componentsassociated with the labelled unit. There is however oneexception. Mercury is, for the time being, permitted in theback light system of flat panel monitors as there today isno commercially available alternative. TCO aims onremoving this exception when a mercury free alternative isavailable.Lead**Lead can be found in picture tubes, display screens, solders and capacitors. TCO’99 permits the use of leaddue to the lack of commercially available alternatives, butin future requirements TCO Development aims atrestricting the use of lead._____________________________________________* Bio-accumulative is defined as substances which accumulate in living organisms.**Lead, Cadmium and Mercury are heavy metals which are bio-accumulative.
