Introduction The LG Bluetooth headset HBM-550 is a light weight wireless Headset utilizing Bluetooth technology. This product can be used as an audio accessory for devices supporting either the Headset or Handsfree Bluetooth Profiles. Included in package 3. Part description Clipcomm, Inc. Confidential Page 3 4. How to use 4.1. Change Direction If you want to pull out the headset from your left ear to put it in your right ear or the other way around, pull out the earpiece from the hole of your headset and reverse the direction of the earpiece and put it back into the hole of the headset to fit the headset for either side of your ears. 4.2. Charging HBM-550 Please ensure that your new HBM-550 is fully charged before your initial use. 1. Open the charging port cover on the top of the Headset. 2. Plug the charger into the charging port outlet. 3. While charging, the red LED indicator is lit and will remain lit, until the Headset is fully charged. 4. The red LED light is off when the device is fully charged. 5. Charge the Headset for approximately 2 hours or until the red LED is off. 4.3. Low battery warning The Headset needs to be recharged when 1. You hear a short beeping sound through the Headset’s speaker at 30 second intervals. 2. You see the red LED light flickers. Always use the charger that comes with the HBM-550 or that is authorized by LG Electronics inc. Unauthorized chargers are not covered under warranty and may void the HBM-550 warranty. 4.4. Power on In order to turn the Headset on, press and hold the Call/Power button located in front of the product for at least 2 seconds. 4.5. Power off In order to turn the Headset off, press and hold the Call/Power button located in front of the product for at least 4 seconds. 4.6. Pairing Before using your Headset for the first time, you must pair it with another Bluetooth device, such as a mobile phone. Follow the steps below (for most devices): 1. Place the LG Bluetooth Headset HBM-550 in Pairing Mode. Check your Headset is turned off. Press the Call/Power button for at least 5 seconds and make your Headset discoverable. Red LED light and blue LED light flickers alternately. Clipcomm, Inc. Confidential Page 4 2. Using Your Handset, Find HBM-550. On your Handset, find the Bluetooth menu. From this menu, select the option to search for Bluetooth devices ("Search New", "Find New", etc.) Your Handset will find "LG HBM-550" You will be prompted to accept the pairing by pressing "OK" or "yes". When prompted to enter the PIN number, enter "0000" (four zeros). Press "yes" or "OK" to confirm the pairing with the HBM-550 Note If pairing is successful, the blue LED light will flicker 5 times slowly. 4.7. Connecting There are two ways to connect a LG Bluetooth Headset “HBM-550” to a Handset. 1. Connecting from a Handset to a Bluetooth headset. From the Bluetooth menu, select the “connect” submenu selecting a “LG HBM-550” you want to connect Pressing “OK” or “Yes” button 2. Connecting from a Bluetooth headset to a Handset. Press Call/Power button If a “HBM-550” has ever paired with a Bluetooth device successfully, such as a mobile phone, it would initiate a connection with it automatically. Note If connection is successful, the blue LED light will flicker 5 times slowly. 4.8. Volume control Press the Vol+ or Vol- button to increase or decrease the speaker volume. The volume control button allows you to adjust the Headset volume to one of 8 levels. 4.9. Calling 4.9.1. Answering a call Press the Call/Power button to receive a call on the Headset. 4.9.2. Making a call If you make a call from the Handset while connected with the HBM-550, the call will (subject to Handset settings) be automatically transferred to the Headset. If not automatically transferred, you can transfer the call manually by pressing the Call/Power button. Clipcomm, Inc. Confidential Page 5 4.9.3. Voice dialing* Activate voice dialing by pressing the Call/Power button. If the Handset does not support this feature, the Headset HBM-550 will activate the last number redialing. 4.9.4. Last number redial* Activate last number redial by pressing the Call/Power button for 1 second until beeping sound is heard. If the Handset does not support voice dialing, pressing the Call/Power button will activate last number redialing. 4.9.5. Ending a call Press the Call/Power button to terminate the call. 4.9.6. Transferring a call* To transfer a call from the Handset to the Headset, press the Call/Power button. And to transfer a call from the Headset to the Handset, press Vol+ button for 1 second. 4.9.7. Call waiting* To answer a second call without hanging up the first call, press the Call/Power button for 1 second. Press the Call/Power button for 1 second to switch between the two calls. Press the Call/Power button to terminate the active call. 4.9.8. Call rejecting* Activate call rejecting by pressing the Call/Power button for 1 second when the Handset rings. 4.9.9. Auto reconnect* When the HBM-550 and your Handset are separated by a distance of 33 feet (10meters) or more, the connection of the Headset and the Handset may be closed. When the Handset and HBM-550 are brought back within the required distance, the HBM-550 will automatically reconnect with the Handset. For the first 3 minutes after the connection is closed, the HBM-550 will try to connect with your Handset approximately every 10 seconds. After the first 3 minutes, the Headset will try to connect with your Handset once in 10 minutes. * It is possible to use these functions only when your Handset supports them. Connected Battery low The red LED substitutes the blue LED. Conversation mode The blue LED light flickers twice every 5 seconds. Unintentional Link Loss The purple (blue and red) LED light flickers once every 5 seconds. (until the lost link is recovered) Charging Charging The red LED is lit. Radio frequency exposure This Bluetooth Headset, HBM-550, is a radio transmitter and receiver. When in operation, it communicates with a Bluetooth equipped mobile device by receiving and transmitting radio frequency(RF) electromagnetic fields (microwaves) in the frequency range 2.4 to 2.4835 GHz. The output power of the radio transmitter is low, 0.001 watt. Your Bluetooth Headset is designed to operate in compliance with the RF exposure guidelines and limits set by national authorities and international health agencies when used any compatible LG Electronics mobile phone. 2. Potentially explosive atmosphere Turn off your electronic device when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. It is rare, but your electronic device could generate sparks. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, but not always, clearly marked. 3. Emergency calls IMPORTANT! This Bluetooth Headset and the electronic device connected to the Headset operate using radio signals, cellular and landline networks as well as user-programmed functions, which cannot guarantee connection under all conditions. Therefore you should never rely solely upon any electronic device for essential communications (e.g. medical emergencies). Remember, in order to make or receive calls, the Headset and the electronic device Clipcomm, Inc. Confidential Page 10 connected to the Headset must be switched on and in a service area with adequate cellular signal strength. Emergency calls may not be possible on all cellular phone networks or when certain network services and/or phone features are in use. Check with your local service provider. 4. Battery information A rechargeable battery has a long service life if treated properly. A new battery or one that has not been used for a long period of time could have reduced capacity the first few times it is used. Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, never above +60°(+140°F) or under -20°(-4°F). For maximum battery capacity, use the battery in room temperature. If the battery is used in low temperatures, the battery capacity will be reduced. The battery can only be charged in temperatures between +10° (+50 °F) and +45° (+113°F). 5. Recycling the battery in your Bluetooth Headset The battery in your Bluetooth Headset must be disposed of properly and should never be placed in municipal waste. The LG Electronics service partner removing battery will dispose of it according to local regulations. 6. Conditions The warranty is valid only if the original receipt issued to the original purchaser by the dealer, specifying the date of purchase and serial number, is presented with the product to be repaired or replaced. LG Electronics reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product from the dealer. If LG Electronics repairs or replaces the product, the repaired or replaced product shall be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety (90) days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. Repair or replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent reconditioned units. Replaced parts or components will become the property of LG Electronics. This Warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to normal wear and tear, or due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary manner, in accordance with instructions for use and maintenance of the product. Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the product due to accident, modification or adjustment, acts of God or damage resulting from liquid. This warranty does not cover product failures due to improper repair installations, modifications or service performed by a non-LG Electronics authorized person. Tampering with any of the seals on the product will void the warranty. There are no express warranties, whether written or oral, other than this printed including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this limited warranty. in no event shall LG electronics or its vendors be liable for incidental or consequential damages of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to lost profits or commercial loss, to the full extent those damages can be disclaimed by law. Some countries/states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or Clipcomm, Inc. The warranty provided does not affect the consumer's statutory rights under applicable national legislation in force, nor the consumer's rights against the dealer arising from their sales/purchase contract. 13. Limited Warranty Subject to the conditions of this Limited Warranty, LG Electronics warrants this product to be free from defects in design, material and workmanship at the time of its original purchase by a consumer, and for a subsequent period of one (1) year.
