1. All smoke detectors installed to operate through the same Mainstreet Messenger
must all have the same ID code.
2. Programming the ID Code can only be achieved using a special Elcombe Systems

Location Of Smoke Detectors

DO NOT INSTALL the Smoke Detector near large metal objects such as refrigerators
and ovens as they may interfere with the transmitted RF signal.
1. The Smoke Detector is for Indoor Use ONLY.
2. Typically, the Mainstreet Messenger can receive the transmission from the
Smoke Detector up to 50 feet away. Once a location has been chosen, test that
the Mainstreet Messsenger reacts by pressing the Test button on the Smoke
Detector.
OPERATION
Smoke Detector Programmed With 12-Bit ID Code
The Smoke Detector monitors the condition of its batteries and will report a low
battery condition to the Mainstreet Messenger only during a real smoke alarm or
when a smoke detector Test button is initiated. The Mainstreet Messenger
responds to a low battery report from the Smoke Detector in the same manner that
would be reported as with a low battery Call Button.
That is, after the Test Button and the Alert at the Mainstreet Messenger has been
cancelled, the Mainstreet Messenger will flash the Cancel Button and beep
periodically.
Follow the instructions in the Mainstreet Messenger User’s Guide to verify the
battery condition of the smoke detector.
Smoke Detector Programmed With 20-Bit ID Code

battery condition in the same manner as detailed for the 12-Bit ID Code.
The added benefit of the 20-Bit ID Code is that the smoke detector can be set to
report its battery condition every 8 hours regardless of good or bad battery.
Similarly, the smoke detector can be set to report every 8 hours only when the
battery is low.
TESTING
The Smoke Detector should be tested weekly by pressing the Test button.
Verify that the alarm sounds and that the Mainstreet Messenger responds
correctly.
