Placing Calls

Using the Headset Feature
Your telephone can utilize a headset (not HEADSET
induded) to be connected to your HANDSET
for you to enjoy hands-tree communication.
Insert the small plug at the end at the MICROPHONE
headset into the HEADSET JACK at the
right Side of the HANDSET Follow the
procedures discussed in ‘Receiving Calls"
and ‘Plaang Calls' to receive and place a callv

When you plug In the headset plug lnlc the
HEADSET JACK it automatically mules the
MICROPHONE and SPEAKER of the
HANDSET Unplug the headset to return
the HANDSETIO normal use.

Security System
Your cordless telephone uses a digital coding security system to prevent ills-Ahmad
use of your telephone line by anoltler nearby cordless telephone. fhe system has its own
identliylng signal created by microcomputers in both the BASE UNIT andthe HANDSET.
Security Code
This telephone has an internal security code wilh 65.536 possible combinations.
Resetting Security Code and Channel Informal/on
Communlcalion between the HANDSET and lhe ms UNIT may not be possible inany
oi the following situations-
1. After a power failure
2. Aller relocating the BASE umr by disconnecting the Ar: ADAPTOR.
3. Alter replacmg the HANDSET BA'I'lERY PACK.
To reset. place the HANDSET on the BASE unmorz to 5 seconds.
Mum-Channel Access
Your cordless telephone lets you select a channel from the 50 frequencies available to
transmll signals between the BASE UNIT and the HANDSET. When you notice
interierence from other cordless telephones, change to another channel by pressing

Recharging the BATTERY PACK
The nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd) BATTERY PACK in the HANDSET all be recharged many
times usmg the built-in charger in the BASE UNIT
When the BATT LOW LED indicator starts to blink rapidly a “beep' sound will be heard
every 12 seconds This indicates that the BATTERY PACK needs to be recharged
Charge the BATI‘ERV PACK at least once every 90 days of non-use to avoid battery
failure. When the BATTERY PACK can no longer be charged, replacement of the
BATTERY PACK wlll be necessary.
The BATTERY PACK used in your telephone may develop a condition known as
MEMORY" Once subjected to a regularshort discharglng routine. the battery assumes
the discharging pattern It was Subjected I0 Thrs is known as a ‘MEMORY‘ condition
which causes rapid duscharglng thereby shortening the BATTERY PACKcharge spans |r
you believe your BATTERY PACK has developed a 'MEMORY' condition, do notcharge

To Replace the BATTERY PACK:
14 Remove the HANDSET BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER by sliding it down.
24 Pull out the BATTERY PACK PLUG and remove the BATTERY PACK.

For your assistance, we have listed below a few common problems.
Phone does not work, check the following:
1. BASE UNITls pluggedtnto power source
2. HANDSET ls charged
3. TONE/PULSE switch is tn the right position
e TELEPHONE LINE CORD is plugged rnto the TELEPHONE JACK.
Range of phone limited, check the following:
1, ANTENNA on the BASE UNIT is ralsed.
z. BAsE UNIT is centrally located in your residence
3. BASE UNIT ls not located near appliances
Na dial tone, check the following:
1. TELEPHONE LINE CORD plugs are connected to the TELEPHONE JACK and
TELEPHONE LINE CONNECTION JACK
2. BASE UNIT ls plugged Into a power source.
3. If you had a power tatture or had unplugged the BASE UNIT, neplaoe the HANDSET
on the BASE UNIT for 2 to 5 seconds to reset the system,
Received signal flutters or fades, check the following:
1. BATTERY PACK in HANDSETts tully charged.
2 HANDSET lS not too far from the BASE UNIT.
3. ANTENNA on the BASE UNITts rersed.
Interference on reception, check the following:
1. Noise may be picked up from electncal products in the home orslectriwl storms.
Generally, thts nolse ts a mlnor annoyance and should not be interpreted asadelect in
your system (See Technlcal lntormation on age 21).
2. Choose an alternate channel using the teen button on the HANDSET.
Excess static, check the following:
1. Check to see that the ANTENNA Is not touching another metal object.
2. Ralse or reposition the BASE UNIT ANTENNA
If after pressing the ttalk l button, you receive three “beeps" and no
dial tone, check the following:
1. BASE UNIT is plugged rnto a power source
2. If you had a power failure or had unplugged the BASE UNIT, replace the HANDSET
on the BASE UNIT lor 2 to 5 seconds to reset the system.
NOTE: If none at the telephones in the house are working. dboonneot one set at a time to

dilflculties in using radio lrequencies With a cordless telephone. While these are normal,
the roiiewmg could affect the operation of your system.
Noise
Electrical pulse noise is present in most homes at one time or another, “is noise is most

range. Try several locations in your home or office and pick the one that gives you the
clearest signal to the HANDSET.
