Positioning the Upper Handle 1. Removepackingmaterial,if present. 2. Raisethe upper handlein the directionshownin Figure1 untilit clicks intothe operatingposition. Requiresuseof a three-prongoutdoorextensioncord and a 120Vpowersource. Spark Chute / Chute Handle Rotatethe dischargechute to the left or right using chute handle.Theangle of the dischargechutecontrols the distancethat the snowis thrown.Tilt the discharge chute up for greaterdistance;tilt downfor less distance. Loosenthe hand knobon the side of the discharge chuteto adjust.Tilt thechute to the desiredposition, and tightenthe knob. The starterhandleis usedto manuallystartthe engine. Electric Handle Locatedon the upperhandle,the auger controlhandle is usedto engageand disengagedriveto the auger. Squeezethecontrol handleagainst theupper handleto engageauger;releaseit to disengage. NOTE:On newunits or units with a newshaveplate installed,the augersmay be slightlyoff theground. MaintenanCe 2. Toadjust,tip the snowthrowerback sothat it restson the handle.Loosenthe four lock nutsand boltswhich securethe shaveplateto the housing.See Figure7. Movethe shaveplateto desiredpositionand retighten the nuts and bolts securely. Replacing Theshaveplate isattachedto the bottomof theauger housingand is subjectto wear.It shouldbe checked periodically.Thereare two wearingedgesand the shave platecan be reversed.Referto Figure7.Toreplaceor reversethe shaveplateproceedas follows.
