Do not use any other charging source. 1. 8. Less run time means less fun time and we don’t want that do we? General rule of thumb: Wait at least 20 minutes Äuntil the battery pack cools before recharging. Use only Tyco® R/C 9.6V NiCd battery packs. Other batteries may leak or rupture, causing personal injury and damage. BATTERY CHARGING/CARE 1. Plug the wall pack charger into a standard wall outlet. 2. Connect the wires leading from the battery pack to the wall pack charger connector. Make certain the two connectors are tightly snapped together. 3. To disconnect the wires, push down on the connector clip and pull apart. 4. After charging, the battery will feel warm. Have no fear, that’s normal for fully charged batteries. 5. New battery packs must be charged for 5 1/2 hours the first two times. After that you’re looking at 4 hours per charge. Charging the battery pack for more than 4 hours won’t extend your running time but if it makes you happy, charge away. 6. Unlike alkaline batteries, which lose power gradually, a NiCd (Nickel-Cadmium) battery will operate for its normal running time and then lose most of its power at once. When that starts to happen, recharge the battery pack. 7. Okay, you’re loving this toy and you want to slam that spent battery back into the charger for more splash action. Bad move. Here’s why: Recharging a warm or hot battery pack will greatly reduce the number of times your battery pack can be recharged. 2AA 9.6V d.c. NiCd, 1 x 8 AA, 700 mAh RECHARGEABLE BATTERY INFORMATION: DO NOT RECHARGE BATTERY PACK IF IT’S HOT. ALLOW IT TO COOL BEFORE RECHARGING. DO NOT RECHARGE A BATTERY PACK THAT SHOWS LEAKAGE OR CORROSION. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE BATTERY PACK. THE BATTERY PACK IS A SEALED RECHARGEABLE NICKEL-CADMIUM BATTERY PACK. EXERCISE CAUTION IN HANDLING A HOT BATTERY PACK. IF BATTERY PACK AND/OR CHARGER ARE WET, THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE CHARGING. DO NOT RECHARGE NON-RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. REMOVE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES BEFORE RECHARGING. V. TIPS & HINTS TIPS & HINTS – FOR ALL DRIVING ENVIRONMENTS 1. When your boat starts to lose power, you’ll start to lose performance. It's time for a recharge. As a rule, you should always start with a fully-charged battery. 2. Are you the full-throttle sort or a more a steady as you go type? Your boat's running time may change depending on your driving style. 3. Radio interference can mess up the signals you’re sending to the boat, causing it to perform erratically. Things to look for that may be causing the interference: other R/C boats running on the same frequency, electrical wires, large buildings, CB radios, UFOs (kidding) or other wireless gear that can cause interference. 4. Point your transmitter antenna up - not down toward your boat. If your boat gets too far away, you can kiss proper functioning goodbye. 5. Don’t drive your boat in the sand. Not only won’t you get very far, you might ruin the toy. 6. Don’t store your boat near heat or in direct sunlight. Always turn switches OFF and, if you’re not planning on taking the boat out for a while, remove all the batteries....really. It’s amazing how one leaky 50¢ battery can ruin a really cool product. Note to Adults: It’s probably a good idea to recharge the battery pack yourself to make sure everything’s done correctly. Who wants to wait four hours only to discover the battery’s been put into the charger backwards? Recharge batteries only under adult supervision. Kids will inevitably ram, slam and kablam the toy during usage. Always check for damage to the plug, housing, or other parts that may result in the risk of fire, electric shock or injury. If the product is damaged, do not use it. This transformer is not a toy. THIS PRODUCT USES A NICKEL-CADMIUM RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK. THE BATTERY MUST BE RECYCLED OR DISPOSED OF PROPERLY. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING BATTERIES OR THEIR DISPOSAL PLEASE CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE LOCAL OFFICE. 8. After a few minutes in the water, you should pay close attention to your boat’s location, making sure that it’s close to the water’s edge. That way your boat will be able to return safely under its own power. 9. Always make sure the rudders located at the rear of the fan cage are in a parallel position. 10.The boat will work best on water or smooth, flat surfaces. 11.Do not expose the transmitter to water. If the transmitter is accidentally exposed to water, remove the transmitter battery and allow the transmitter to airdry completely. Replace with a fresh battery before resuming operation. 12. After each use, remove any water or moisture from the boat using a clean dry cloth. 13. You may notice that the boat, even when you're steering straight ahead , veers to either the right or the left. You can correct for this with the TRIM ADJUSTER found at the back of the boat behind the fan cage. So, if your boat veers too much to the right, adjust the switch clockwise or if to the left, counter clockwise. TIPS & HINTS – FOR WATER OPERATION 7. Operate your boat only in calm, clear water. Pools and shallow ponds are recommended. Do not operate in salt water. Do not expose the boat to water unless the battery compartment is properly closed and latched. THIS PRODUCT USES A NICKEL-CADMIUM RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK. BATTERY MUST BE RECYCLED OR DISPOSED OF PROPERLY. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING BATTERIES OR THEIR DISPOSAL PLEASE CALL 1-888-557-TYCO. VI.
