HOW TO PLAY
These instructions are in two parts
(please read both parts before operating):
1. These "How to Play" instructions give
you detailed instructions for game play.
2. The Owner’s Manual tells you about
basic operation and battery installa-
tion.
Please read all consumer and safety
information before operating. Keep all
instructions for future reference: they
contain important information.
I. INTRODUCTION
ROBOT SHOWDOWN™ is a cool action
set. You control the full-function R/C vehi-
cle. The awesome pursuit robot uses
infrared technology to track and follow the
vehicle. If the robot hits your vehicle’s rear
bumper three times, the vehicle will flip
over…the robot wins. But if you can hit
the robot’s rear bumper with the vehicle,
you’ll shut down the robot…and you win.
Keep reading for detailed step-by-step
instructions.
II. SETUP
Please refer to Owners Manual for
detailed battery installation instructions.
Install batteries in vehicle, transmitter
and robot.
Hold the vehicle right-side-up. Carefully
and firmly push the flip arm into position
until it clicks securely in place. The flip
arm requires some effort to operate;
make sure that it has clicked into posi-
tion before releasing it.
Make sure the mode switch is in
unlocked position.
Turn vehicle switch on. The vehicle
power switch has 3 positions: indoor
[GRAPHIC], off [GRAPHIC], and outdoor
[GRAPHIC]. Select the proper position
for indoor or outdoor use.
Turn robot switch on. The robot will
make a cool "power-up" sound.
CAUTION: Flip arm can be activated
during handling. Keep clear of the flip
arm when handling.
When you take the robot out of the pack-
age, its upper body will be rotated to one
side. Rotate the upper body so the robot is
facing front before starting play.
III. SKILL LEVEL
1. Use the robots select button to choose
your skill level. After the "power-up"
sound ends, press the select button as
follows:
Press once for "easy" skill level (1 beep)
Press a second time for "medium" skill
level (2 beeps)
Press a third time for "expert" skill level (3
beeps)
Press again to return to "easy" skill level
and cycle through skill levels again.
2. Once youve selected your skill level,
press and hold the select button to
start. The robot will "laugh" to confirm
your choice.
IV. GET STARTED
1. Place the vehicle on the ground, about 1
meter from the robot (any direction).
2. The robot will turn around in "search"
mode, looking for the infrared signal
from the vehicle. The robots headlight
will come on when its in tracking mode.
3. Start driving the vehicle. The robot will
lock on to the infrared signal and follow,
trying to hit the vehicles rear bumper.
V. HOW TO WIN
1. If the robot hits the vehicles rear
bumper three times, the vehicle will flip
over. The robot wins!
2. At random intervals during the chase,
the robot will "run low" on power. When
that happens, the "low power" alert
sound will go off, the robots lights will
flash, and it will stop moving to
"recharge." At this time the robot is vul-
nerable to attack.
3. While the robot is vulnerable, you can
steer your vehicle to come up behind
the robot and hit its rear bumper. That
will deactivate the robot. You win!
When the robot is deactivated, it will fall
forward and make a "power down"
sound.
VI. RESET
If youve won:
1. To start over, return the robot to its
upright position. (Youll feel a click.)
2. Press the select button again to choose
a skill level and start over.
If the robot has won:
1. Deactivate the robot by tapping the
robots rear bumper.
2. Hold the vehicle right-side-up. Carefully
and firmly push the flip arm into position
until it clicks securely in place. The flip
arm requires some effort to operate;
make sure that it has clicked into posi-
tion before releasing it.
3. Press the select button again to choose
a skill level and start over.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. CAUTION: Flip arm can be acti-
vated during handling. Keep clear of
the flip arm when handling.
2. If the flip arm does not spring out after
three hits, reset the mechanism by hold-
ing the vehicle right-side-up while mov-
ing the mode switch from unlocked
position to locked position then back
to unlocked position.
3. For long-term storage, store the vehicle
with the flip arm released. Storing the
vehicle this way will maintain best per-
formance.
4. To operate the vehicle as a full-function
R/C without the robot hold the vehi-
cle right-side-up while moving the mode
switch to locked position. This will lock
the flip arm. Move the mode switch
back to unlocked position (while holding
the vehicle right-side-up) to unlock the
flip arm for robot pursuit action.
5. If you are taking a quick "break" from
play or if you are transporting your
vehicle from one place to another -
hold the vehicle right-side-up while
moving the mode switch to locked posi-
tion. This will lock the flip arm. Move the
mode switch back to unlocked position
(while holding the vehicle right-side-up)
to unlock the flip arm for robot pursuit
action.
VII. TIPS & HINTS
1. In "easy" skill level, the robot stays vul-
nerable for a longer period, giving you a
better chance to deactivate it. In "medi-
um" and "expert" skill levels, the periods
of vulnerability get shortermaking for
a more challenging game.
2. The best tracking range is 3-4 meters
between vehicle and robot. If your vehi-
cle gets beyond this distance, drive it
back into range. The robot will "reac-
quire" the vehicles infrared signal once
the vehicle is back in range.
3. If an obstacle interrupts the infrared
beam between the robot and the vehi-
cle, the connection will be temporarily
broken. The robot will go back into
"search" mode until it reacquires the
vehicles signal. You can use this fea-
ture to "hide" from the robotfor extra
game action.
4. This product is not designed for use in
confined areas. Make sure you have
enough room to play.
5. The infrared emitters on the top of the
vehicle and the infrared receivers inside
the robot must be clean and unobstruct-
ed for proper operation. If necessary,
carefully use a brush or a clean, dry
cloth to clear any obstruction.
6. The robots movable arms are designed
to "break away" on impact. Simply reat-
tach them to the robots body.
7. Like many other infrared devices, this
product may operate poorly around
bright reflective surfaces (like mirrors).
In addition, some electronic devices
with remote controllers may affect its
operation. You may need to choose an
alternative place to play.
8. For best performance when playing
indoors, make sure the vehicles 3-posi-
tion power switch is set to "indoor" posi-
tion [GRAPHIC]. For best performance
when playing outdoors, make sure the
vehicles 3-position power switch is set
to "outdoor" position [GRAPHIC].
9. The infrared emitters on the top of the
vehicle draw battery power whenever
the vehicle is switched on. Be sure to
turn the vehicle and the robot switches
OFF when not in use, and remove all
batteries for storage.

VI. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Notes to Adults:
To ensure that the childs play is both safe
and fun, please review all operating
instructions and safety rules with your
child.
Safety Tips
CAUTION:
Flip arm can be activated during han-
dling. Keep clear of the flip arm when
handling.
NEVER drive your vehicle on streets!
Theyre for real cars!
DO NOT pick up vehicle while in motion.
Keep fingers, hair and loose clothing
away from the tires and the wheel hubs
while the vehicle is switched ON.
Adult supervision is recommended when
this vehicle is being operated.
To avoid accidental operation, remove all
batteries when not in use.
BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
Insure that battery polarity is correct.
Use only batteries of the type recom-
mended (or equivalent).
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium)
batteries.
Remove used-up batteries immediately.
Remove batteries if vehicle will not be
used for a long period.
Do not recharge non-rechargeable bat-
teries.
Do not short-circuit terminals.
Remove rechargeable batteries before
recharging (if the batteries are designed
to be removable).
Recharge batteries only under adult
supervision (if the batteries are designed
to be removable).
Battery Performance Note:
This is a high-performance product that
needs lots of power. The product is sup-
plied with standard alkaline batteries. For
best performance, we STRONGLY RECOM-
MEND that you replace those batteries,
when necessary, with extra-high-perform-
ance alkaline batteries. Battery life may
vary depending on battery brand.
VII. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. CAUTION: Flip arm can be activat-
ed during handling. Keep clear of the
flip arm when handling.
2. If the flip arm does not spring out after
three hits, reset the mechanism by hold-
ing the vehicle right-side-up while mov-
ing the mode switch from unlocked
position to locked position then back
to unlocked position.
3. For long-term storage, store the vehicle
with the flip arm released. Storing the
vehicle this way will maintain best per-
formance.
4. To operate the vehicle as a full-function
R/C without the robot hold the vehi-
cle right-side-up while moving the mode
switch to locked position. This will lock
the flip arm. Move the mode switch
back to unlocked position (while holding
the vehicle right-side-up) to unlock the
flip arm for robot pursuit action.
5. If you are taking a quick "break" from
play or if you are transporting your
vehicle from one place to another -
hold the vehicle right-side-up while
moving the mode switch to locked posi-
tion. This will lock the flip arm. Move the
mode switch back to unlocked position
(while holding the vehicle right-side-up)
to unlock the flip arm for robot pursuit
action.
VIII. QUICK TIPS
1. When the vehicle or robot starts to lose
power, it may lose functions or perform-
ance. It's time for fresh batteries.
Running time may change depending on
your driving style.
2. Radio interference can make your vehi-
cle run badly. Interference can be
caused by other R/C vehicles running
on the same frequency; electrical wires;
large buildings; or CB radios. Try to stay
away from these!
3. Point your transmitter antenna up - not
down toward your vehicle. If your vehi-
cle gets too far away, it won't work
properly.
4. Dont drive in sand or through water or
snow. If the vehicle or robot does get
wet, allow it to dry thoroughly overnight
before operating again.
5. Dont store the vehicle or robot near
heat or in direct sunlight. Always turn
switches OFF and remove all batteries
for storage.
6. The best tracking range is 3-4 meters
between vehicle and robot.
7. For best performance when playing
indoors, make sure the vehicles 3-posi-
tion power switch is set to "indoor" posi-
tion [GRAPHIC]. For best performance
when playing outdoors, make sure the
vehicles 3-position power switch is set
to "outdoor" position [GRAPHIC].
