A Bluetooth connection does not require that the speakers and the other device be in line of sight, but both devices should be within 10 meters (30 feet) of each other. Check with the manufacturers of other devices to determine their compatibility with this device.There may be restrictions on using Bluetooth technology in some locations. Check with your local authorities or service provider.Getting startedPartsThe speakers contain the parts shown on the title page: indicator light (1), rewind key (2), multifunction key (3), play/pause key (4), answer/end key (5), fast forward key (6), microphone (7), speakers (8), volume down key (9), stereo widening key (10), volume up key (11), power connector (12), battery compartment (13), and audio input (14).Parts of the speakers are magnetic. Metallic materials may be attracted to the speakers. Do not place credit cards or other magnetic storage media near the speakers, because information stored on them may be erased.ChargersCheck the model number of any charger before use with this device. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty and may be dangerous.When you disconnect the power cord of any enhancement, grasp and pull the plug, not the cord.Connect to powerThe speakers can be powered by four AA batteries or the supplied charger.Install AA batteriesWhen you use batteries, alkaline batteries are recommended. To install the batteries, ensure that the speakers are off, and open the cover of the battery compartment by pushing the lower part of the cover and pulling the cover up. Place the batteries as indicated in the compartment, and push the cover  until it snaps into place.During long periods where the speakers are not used, remove the batteries to prevent damage from battery leakage.When battery power falls low, the red indicator light starts to flash and the speakers beep once a minute.Connect to wall outletTo use the speakers with the charger, connect the charger to a wall outlet, and plug the charger cable to the power connector. ENGLISHSwitch the speakers on or offTo switch on, press and hold the multifunction key until the blue indicator light is displayed.To switch off, press and hold the multifunction key until the red indicator light is displayed.Connect the speakersYou can connect the speakers to a compatible device (such as a mobile phone or music player) using Bluetooth wireless technology or the supplied cable. Pair and connect using Bluetooth wireless technologyThe following instructions apply for a mobile phone but the procedure is the same for a music player, except that you may not need to give the Bluetooth passcode.1. Ensure that the speakers are off and that the phone is on.2. Press and hold the multifunction key until the blue and red indicator lights start to alternate.3. Activate the Bluetooth feature on the phone, and set it to search for Bluetooth devices.4. Select the speakers from the list of found devices.5. Enter the Bluetooth passcode 0000 to pair and connect the speakers to the phone. ENGLISHConnect using a cableYou can connect the speakers to a compatible device with the supplied CA-63U cable.To connect the speakers to a device that has a 3.5-mm audio connector, plug the cable into the audio input on the speakers and the audio connector on the device.Basic useAdjust the volumeTo set the volume of the speakers, press either volume key. If the sound level of the speakers becomes too low when using battery power, change the batteries.Listen to musicTo listen to music, connect the speakers to a compatible music player such as a mobile phone with a music player feature or other music player device.To use the music functions, connect the compatible device to the speakers  using Bluetooth wireless technology. The compatible music player should support the A2DP Bluetooth profile. If you use a cable connection, you can only adjust the volume of the speakers; to control music, use the keys on your music player.If you answer or make a call while listening to music, playing is paused until the call ends.Warning: Listen to music at a moderate level. To select the previous track, press the rewind key.To pause or resume playing, press the play/pause key. To stop playing, press and hold the play/pause key.To widen the stereo image of the sound, check that this feature is off in your music player, and press the stereo widening key.Call handlingThe speakers can be used for call handling if connected to a compatible phone using Bluetooth wireless technology.To make a call, use your phone in the normal way when the speakers are connected to your phone. Speak toward the microphone on the speakers.If your phone supports last number redialing with the speakers, press the answer/end key twice when no call is in progress.If your phone supports voice dialing with the speakers, press the answer/end key when no call in progress, and proceed as described in the user guide of your phone.To answer or end a call, press the answer/end key. If you do not want to answer the call, press and hold either volume key.To switch an ongoing call from the speakers to a compatible phone, press and hold either volume key. ENGLISHClear settings or resetTo clear the settings, switch off the speakers. Press and hold the volume down and multifunction keys until the purple indicator light is displayed. Press and hold the volume down key until the blue indicator light is displayed.To reset the speakers if they do not work, remove the batteries and unplug the speakers from the charger.Care and maintenanceYour device is a product of superior design and craftsmanship and should be treated with care. The following suggestions will help you protect your warranty coverage.• Keep the device dry. Precipitation, humidity, and all types of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that will corrode electronic circuits. If your device does get wet, allow it to dry completely.• Do not use or store the device in dusty, dirty areas. Its moving parts and electronic components can be damaged.• Do not store the device in hot areas. High temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and warp or melt certain plastics.• Do not store the device in cold areas.
