Global Positioning System (GPS) Select > {No display_text mapping for'qtn_apps_gpsfolder_grid', locale='en'}.The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwideradio navigation system that includes 24 satellites andtheir ground stations that monitor the operation of thesatellites.A GPS terminal, such as the GPS receiver in the Nokia ExxCommunicator, receives low-power radio signals fromthe satellites, and measures the travel time of thesignals. From the travel time, the GPS receiver cancalculate its location to the accuracy of meters.Coordinates are expressed in degrees and decimaldegrees format using the WGS-84 coordinate system. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by thegovernment of the United States, which is solelyresponsible for its accuracy and maintenance. Theaccuracy of location data can be affected byadjustments to GPS satellites made by the United Statesgovernment and is subject to change with the UnitedStates Department of Defense civil GPS policy and theFederal Radionavigation Plan. Accuracy can also beaffected by poor satellite geometry. Availability andquality of GPS signals may be affected by your location, buildings, natural obstacles, and weather conditions. The GPS receiver should only be used outdoors to allowreception of GPS signals.GPS should only be used as a navigation aid. It shouldnot be used for precise location measurement and youshould never rely solely on location data from the GPSreceiver for positioning or navigation. The trip meter has limited accuracy, and roundingerrors may occur. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRPguidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over10 grams of tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted usingstandard operating positions with the devicetransmitting at its highest certified power level in alltested frequency bands. The actual SAR level of anoperating device can be below the maximum valuebecause the device is designed to use only the powerrequired to reach the network. That amount changesdepending on a number of factors such as how closeyou are to a network base station. The highest SAR valueunder the ICNIRP guidelines for use of the device at theear is 0.65 W/kg.Use of device accessories and enhancements may resultin different SAR values. SAR values may vary dependingon national reporting and testing requirements and thenetwork band. Additional SAR information may beprovided under product information atwww.nokia.com.109Additional safety informationfile:///C:/USERS/MODEServer/lkatajis/11051417/ra-6_maxi/en/issue_1/ra-6_maxi_en_1.xml Page 109 Jan 8, 2007 1:39:30 PMfile:///C:/USERS/MODEServer/lkatajis/11051417/ra-6_maxi/en/issue_1/ra-6_maxi_en_1.xml Page 109 Jan 8, 2007 1:39:30 PM
Your mobile device is also designed to meet therequirements for exposure to radio waves establishedby the Federal Communications Commission (USA) andIndustry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue.
