Draft8■Network servicesTo use the device you must have service from a wireless service provider. Many of the features require special network features. These features are not available on all networks; other networks may require that you make specific arrangements with your service provider before you can use the network services. Your service provider can give you instructions and explain what charges will apply. Some networks may have limitations that affect how you can use network services. For instance, some networks may not support all language-dependent characters and services.Your service provider may have requested that certain features be disabled or not activated in your device. If so, these features will not appear on your device menu. Your device may also have a special configuration such as changes in menu names, menu order, and icons. Draft9General information■Access codesThe security code supplied with the device helps to protect your device against unauthorised use. The preset code is 12345.You can change the code, and set the phone to request the code. Keep the code secret and in a safe place separate from your phone.If you forget the code and your phone is locked, your phone will require service and additional charges may apply. For more information, contact a Nokia Care point or your device dealer.The PIN code supplied with the UIM card helps to protect the card against unauthorised use. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly three times in succession, you are asked for the PUK code. If you do not have it, contact your service provider.To set how your device uses the access codes and security settings, select Menu > Settings > Security.

Keep the bevelled corner of the UIM card facing up and matching along the corresponding bevelled corner of the card holder.4. Insert the UIM card into the holder with the gold-coloured contacts facing down, matching up with the gold-coloured contacts on the device.

Push down on the other end of the battery to snap the battery into place.7. Align the back cover with the back of the device. To read the message, select Show, or, to dismiss the notification, select Exit.Scroll to view the whole message, if necessary. 2. Draft29Distribution listsYou can create lists of up to ten recipients. These lists can be used to quickly address a text message to a group.To create a new distribution list, in the standby mode, select Menu > Messaging > Distribution lists > New list (if the list is empty) or Options > Create new list to create additional lists. To populate your list, select Add new and a contact from your contacts list.To use, rename, or modify a distribution list, highlight the distribution list, and select Options > Send message, Rename list, Clear list, or Delete list.Delete messagesIf your message memory is full and you have more messages waiting, blinks in the standby mode.To delete a single message, select Menu > Messaging, and the folder containing the message. Select the message and Options > Delete > Yes. The messages that are locked cannot be deleted. To delete locked messages, unlock them first. Select the locked message, and Options > Unlock.

When you have marked the selected contacts, select Options > Move marked or Copy marked.To move or copy all contacts between the UIM card memory and the phone memory, select Menu > Contacts > Move contacts or Copy contacts.Speed dialsYour device can dial a phone number with one keypress. You can assign phone numbers to the number keys, 2 to 9. To assign a phone number to a number key, select Menu > Contacts > Speed dials, and scroll to the number to assign as the shortcut.Select Assign, or if a number has already been assigned to the key, select Options > Change.
Draft34Business cardYou can send and receive a person’s contact information from a compatible device that supports the vCard standard as a business card.To send a business card, search for the contact, and select Details >Options > Send bus. card.When you receive a business card, to save the business card in the phone memory, select Show >Save. To discard the business card, select Exit > Yes.■LogLog stores information about the last 50 missed, received, or dialed calls (network service). It also adds the total duration of all calls. When the number of calls exceeds 50, the most recent call replaces the oldest. To access the log, your device must be switched on and inside the network service area.Select Menu > Log > Call log, Missed calls, Received calls, or Dialled numbers. From here you can view the date and time of a call; edit, view, or call the registered

You can also send a text message.To view the contacts to whom you most recently sent messages, select Menu > Log > Message recipients.To delete the missed, dialled, or received calls from the phone memory, select Menu > Log > Clear log lists and the item you would like to clear.To view the approximate duration of the last call, all received calls, all dialled calls, or all calls, select Menu > Log > Call duration. A compatible headset needs to be attached to the device for the FM radio to function properly.Warning: Listen to music at a moderate level. Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your hearing. Do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud.Listen to the radio1. Connect a headset to the device.2. Select Menu > Media > Radio, or press and hold the * key in the standby mode.
