Your device hasthe tools to get you where you want to be.Positioning (GPS)You can use applications such as GPS data to determineyour location or measure distances. These applicationsrequire a GPS connection.About GPSThe coordinates in the GPS are expressed using theinternational WGS-84 coordinate system. The availabilityof the coordinates may vary by region. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by thegovernment of the United States, which is solelyresponsible for its accuracy and maintenance. Theaccuracy of location data can be affected by adjustmentsto GPS satellites made by the United States governmentand is subject to change with the United StatesDepartment of Defense civil GPS policy and the FederalRadionavigation Plan. Accuracy can also be affected bypoor satellite geometry. Availability and quality of GPSsignals may be affected by your location, buildings, natural obstacles, and weather conditions. GPS signalsmay not be available inside buildings or underground andmay be impaired by materials such as concrete and metal.GPS should not be used for precise location measurement, and you should never rely solely on location data from theGPS receiver and cellular radio networks for positioning ornavigation. The trip meter has limited accuracy, and rounding errorsmay occur. Accuracy can also be affected by availabilityand quality of GPS signals.Different positioning methods can be enabled or disabledin positioning settings.Assisted GPS (A-GPS)Your device also supports assisted GPS (A-GPS).A-GPS requires network support.Assisted GPS (A-GPS) is used to retrieve assistance dataover a packet data connection, which assists in calculatingthe coordinates of your current location when your deviceis receiving signals from satellites. When you activate A-GPS, your device receives usefulsatellite information from an assistance data server overthe cellular network. Yourdevice asks you to select the internet access point whenGPS is used for the first time.Hold your device correctlyThe GPS receiver is located on the back of the device. Whenusing the receiver, make sure that you do not cover theantenna with your hand.Establishing a GPS connection may take from acouple of seconds to several minutes.Establishing a GPS connection in a vehicle maytake longer. The GPS receiver draws its power from thedevice battery. Using the GPS receiver maydrain the battery faster.Tips on creating a GPSconnectionCheck satellite signal statusTo check how many satellites your device has found, andwhether your device is receiving satellite signals, selectMenu > Applications > GPS and GPS data > Options >Satellite status. If your device has foundsatellites, a bar for each satelliteis shown in the satellite infoview. The longer the bar, thestronger the satellite signal. When your device has receivedenough data from the satellite signal to calculate yourlocation, the bar colour changes. To view the positions of found satellites, select Chg.view.Initially your device must receive signals from at least foursatellites to be able to calculate your location. When theinitial calculation has been made, it may be possible tocontinue calculating your location with three satellites. However, the accuracy is generally better when moresatellites are found. If no satellite signal can be found, consider the following:•If you are indoors, go outdoors to receive a bettersignal.•If you are outdoors, move to a more open space.•Ensure that your hand does not cover the GPS antennaof your device.•If the weather conditions are bad, the signal strengthmay be affected.•Some vehicles have tinted (athermic) windows, whichmay block the satellite signals.57TravellingCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack2009-11-09 15:1:46

Itis designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radiowaves recommended by international guidelines. Theseguidelines were developed by the independent scientificorganisation ICNIRP and include safety margins designedto assure the protection of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unitof measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate orSAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue.Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operatingpositions with the device transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all tested frequency bands. Theactual SAR level of an operating device can be below themaximum value because the device is des igned to use onlythe power required to reach the network. That amountchanges depending on a number of factors such as howclose you are to a network base station. The highest SAR value under the ICNIRP guidelines for useof the device at the ear is 1.20 W/kg.Use of device accessories may result in different SARvalues. SAR values may vary depending on nationalreporting and testing requirements and the networkband. Additional SAR information may be provided underproduct information at www.nokia.com.Your mobile device is also designed to meet therequirements for exposure to radio waves established bythe Federal Communications Commission (USA) andIndustry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest SARvalue reported under this standard during productcertification for use at the ear is 1.04 W/kg and whenproperly worn on the body is 0.70 W/kg.110Additional safety informationCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack2009-11-09 15:1:46
