An accessory bought without a separatepackage is not an original Nokia accessory. How to buy Nokia original accessories:1 Go to an authorised retailer for Nokia originalaccessories. For information on the nearest authorised retailer forNokia accessories, check with a Nokia original accessorydistributor.* When you are buying an accessory, always ask thedealer to issue a separate invoice listing the price andmodel number, which is helpful in safeguarding yourown rights.2 Visit a Nokia online shop at www.shop.nokia.com.cn.Practical rules about accessories•Keep all accessories out of the reach of small children.•When you disconnect the power cord of any accessory, grasp and pull the plug, not the cord.•Check regularly that accessories installed in a vehicle aremounted and are operating properly.•Installation of any complex car accessories must be madeby qualified personnel only. Why use original accessories? As key components of your handset, batteries and chargersplay a critical role in making sure the handset is operatingproperly and safely. As shown by our long-term customersurveys and after-sales services, handsets fail in many casesby using unapproved accessories, especially unapprovedbatteries and chargers.Dangers of using unapproved batteries and chargers•Short lifetime, with charging and discharging timesnoticeably less than those of original batteries.•Consequent much shorter lifetime of the handset, unstable power supply that prevents the handset circuitfrom functioning properly, which causes lastingdamages.•Poor performance and reliability of the handset, undermined voice quality and frequent breakdown.•Potential burning or explosion that endangersconsumer's safety.48 Nokia original accessorieswww.nokia.com/supportCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
Benefits of using Nokia original accessories•Adequate safety.•High quality after-sales maintenance and services thatare available to original accessories only.•Nokia warranty does not apply to handset failuresattributable to the use of non-original Nokia accessories.False: Handset battery is a simple product that combines agroup of linked cells within a single package.True: A number of high-tech designs and high quality rawmaterials are necessary for a handset battery to providestable and lasting performance. A battery manufactured in aslipshod way differs from an original product on process, design, and raw material considerably, hence dramaticdifference in performance and safety.False: All accessories with the Nokia trademark are originalones.True: Nokia original accessories are supplied in an elegantsales package (complying with national packageregulations), and each battery carries a hologram label. It isrecommended that consumers are aware of counterfeitNokia accessories on the market. In particular, some dealersmight remove the original battery from the supplied handset, which violates our distribution policies and infringes onconsumer's rights.False: Despite low quality, counterfeit battery is muchcheaper and is worthwhile even if it requires frequentreplacement.True: Unapproved batteries and chargers are not only ofshort lifetime and poor performance, but will noticeablyundermine the handset's performance and reduce itslifetime. It is also deprived of comprehensive after-salesmaintenance and repair. Most important, unapprovedbatteries and chargers pose safety threats to consumers.Losses in these regards far exceed the savings on price. Infact, with inferior raw materials and irregular designs, somecounterfeit batteries cost less than 1/10 of original products.BatteryType Talk time StandbyBL-5C Up to 7 hours Up to 350 hoursImportant: Battery talk and stand-by times are estimatesand only possible under optimal network conditions. Actualbattery talk and standby times depend on SIM cards, featuresused, battery age and condition, temperatures to whichbattery is exposed, network conditions, and many otherfactors, and may be significantly shorter than those specifiedabove. Ringing tones, hands free call handling, use in digitalmode, and other features will also consume the battery, andthe amount of time a device is used for calls will affect itsstand-by time. Likewise, the amount of time that the deviceis turned on and in the standby mode will affect its talk time.Nokia original accessories 49www.nokia.com/supportCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
BatteryBattery and charger informationYour device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The battery intended for use with thisdevice is BL-5C. Nokia may make additional battery models available for this device. Thisdevice is intended for use when supplied with power from the following chargers:AC-8. The exact charger model number may vary depending on the type of plug. The plugvariant is identified by one of the following: E, EB, X, AR, U, A, C, K, or UB. For example, themodel numbers for the charger can be, among others, AC-8C, AC-8U, AC-8X, etc. Thecharger model offered to China mainland is AC-8C.The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wearout. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, replace thebattery. Use only Nokia approved batteries, and recharge your battery only with Nokiaapproved chargers designated for this device. If a battery is being used for the first time or if the battery has not been used for aprolonged period, it may be necessary to connect the charger, then disconnect andreconnect it to begin charging the battery. If the battery is completely discharged, it maytake several minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before anycalls can be made.Safe removal. Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removingthe battery.Proper charging. Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not inuse. Extreme temperatures reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. A devicewith a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily. Battery performance is particularlylimited in temperatures well below freezing.Do not short-circuit. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metallic object such asa coin, clip, or pen causes direct connection of the positive (+) and negative (-) terminalsof the battery. (These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might happen, forexample, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting theterminals may damage the battery or the connecting object.Disposal. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Dispose of batteriesaccording to local regulations. Please recycle when possible. Do not dispose as householdwaste.Leak. Do not dismantle, cut, open, crush, bend, puncture, or shred cells or batteries. Inthe event of a battery leak, prevent battery liquid contact with skin or eyes. If thishappens, flush the affected areas immediately with water, or seek medical help.Damage. Do not modify, remanufacture, attempt to insert foreign objects into thebattery, or immerse or expose it to water or other liquids. Batteries may explode ifdamaged.Correct use. Use the battery only for its intended purpose. Improper battery use mayresult in a fire, explosion, or other hazard. If the device or battery is dropped, especiallyon a hard surface, and you believe the battery has been damaged, take it to a servicecentre for inspection before continuing to use it. It is designed not to exceed thelimits for exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines. Theseguidelines were developed by the independent scientific organisation ICNIRP and includesafety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age andhealth. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unit of measurement known as theSpecific Absorption Rate or SAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted usingstandard operating positions with the device transmitting at its highest certified powerlevel in all tested frequency bands. The actual SAR level of an operating device can bebelow the maximum value because the device is designed to use only the power requiredto reach the network. That amount changes depending on a number of factors such ashow close you are to a network base station. The highest SAR value under the ICNIRPguidelines for use of the device at the ear is 1.08 W/kg.Use of device accessories may result in different SAR values. SAR values may varydepending on national reporting and testing requirements and the network band.Additional SAR information may be provided under product information atwww.nokia.com.Your mobile device is also designed to meet the requirements for exposure to radio wavesestablished by the Federal Communications Commission (USA) and Industry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. Thehighest SAR value reported under this standard during product certification for use atthe ear is 0.99 W/kg and when properly worn on the body is 0.27 W/kg.MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED WARRANTYThis Limited Warranty is in addition to, and does not affect your legal (statutory) rightsunder your applicable national laws relating to the sale of consumer products.Nokia Corporation (“Nokia”) provides this Limited Warranty to person who has purchasedthe Nokia product(s) included in the sales package (“Product”).Nokia warrants to you that during the warranty period Nokia or a Nokia authorisedservice company will in a commercially reasonable time remedy defects in materials, design and workmanship free of charge by repairing or, should Nokia in its absolutediscretion deem it necessary, replacing the Product in accordance with this LimitedWarranty (unless otherwise required by law).
