1 Press the release buttons, and removethe back cover (1, 2).2 Remove the battery (3).3 Insert the SIM card. Ensure the contactsurface area is facing down and thebevelled corner of the SIM card isfacing the bottom of the device (4, 5,6).4 Replace the battery and the backcover (7, 8, 9).Switch on or offPress and hold the power key.AntennasYour device may have internal andexternal antennas. Avoid touching theantenna area unnecessarily while theantenna is transmitting or receiving.Contact with antennas affects thecommunication quality and may cause ahigher power level during operation andmay reduce the battery life.Charge the batteryYour battery has been partially charged atthe factory. If the device indicates a lowcharge, do the following:1 Connect the charger to a wall outlet.2 Connect the charger to the device.3 When the device indicates a fullcharge, disconnect the charger fromthe device, then from the wall outlet.You do not need to charge the battery fora specific length of time, and you can usethe device while it is charging. Do not connect products that create anoutput signal as this may cause damageto the device. Do not connect any voltagesource to the Nokia AV Connector.Insert a microSD cardUse only compatible microSD cardsapproved by Nokia for use with thisdevice. Nokia uses approved industrystandards for memory cards, but somebrands may not be fully compatible withthis device. Incompatible cards maydamage the card and the device andcorrupt data stored on the card.Your phone supports microSD cards witha capacity of up to 8 GB.A compatible memory card may besupplied with the device, and may alreadybe inserted in the device. If not, do thefollowing:1 Open the cover of the memory cardslot.2 Insert the card into the memory cardslot with the contact surface facingup, and press until it locks into place.3 Close the cover of the memory cardslot.Remove the microSD cardImportant: Do not remove the memorycard during an operation when the card isbeing accessed. Doing so may damage thememory card and the device, and corruptdata stored on the card.You can remove or replace the memorycard during phone operation withoutswitching the device off, but you need toensure that no application is currentlyaccessing the memory card.Connect a USB data cableConnect a compatible USB data cable tothe USB connector. To modify the USB settings, selectMenu > Settings > Connectivity > USBdata cable and the desired mode.Attach the wrist strapThread the wrist strap as shown, andtighten it.Magnets and magnetic fieldsKeep your device away from magnets ormagnetic fields.Access codesThe security code helps to protect yourdevice against unauthorised use. You cancreate and change the code, and set thedevice to request the code. Keep the codesecret and in a safe place separate fromyour device. If you forget the code andyour device is locked, your device willrequire service. Additional charges mayapply, and all the personal data in yourdevice may be deleted. For moreinformation, contact a Nokia Care point oryour device dealer.The PIN code supplied with the SIM cardprotects the card against unauthoriseduse. The PIN2 code supplied with someSIM cards is required to access certainservices. If you enter the PIN or PIN2 codeincorrectly three times in succession, youare asked for the PUK or PUK2 code. If youdo not have them, contact your serviceprovider.The module PIN is required to access theinformation in the security module of yourSIM card. The signing PIN may be requiredfor the digital signature.
