Unpack your scanner and check components
Open your scanner package and check the
components as stated in your packing 1151, Do Not
install any ulthe software until the hardware has
been installed.
Before proceeding any further, check that you have
all the illustrated items below.

1. Verify the presence of
USB
Turn on your computer and check to see tf USB
is unplemcnmd.
Visually inspect the USB ports of your computer.
USE Pom
If you cannot find the USB pom at the back of
your computer, read the docummtation that
came with your computer main board. If the
USB connector is available, though unwrred, you
need to purchase an USB cable that connecvs
one end to your main board, another end to the
extension bracket.
For computer main board with USB
supported: To enter BIOS settings and enable
USE, see the documentation that came with
your computer Normally whcn the computer
power is turned on, before starting medows

2 Connect the scanner to
your computer

SlimSmn C6.

and to your SlimSam C6.

Microtek ScanWizard is the Twain dnver used
for the scanner to communicate wtth various
applicanons. ScanWtzarrl cannot be used by
itself and requires another program in order to
work,
Follow screen instructions to complete
installation. When installation is complete,
Microtck ScanWizard for Windows 98
appears as a folder on the Programs menu
lnsmll application programs
Install each application software by clicking on
the indivtdual program options.
Install documentation reader
Click Adobe Acrobat Reader, then follow screen
instructions unul installation is complete
Acrobat Reader is available for reading the
manuals on your CD—ROM.

3. Test you; scanner
1. Restart Windows 984 Click Start. Settinfi. and
select Control Panel.
2. Double—click on the System icon in Control
Panel, then select Device Manager from the top.
1 Double-click on “Microtek USE Scanner", you
can find ‘SIu-nScan C6” is listed. The scanner is
ready to scan.
1 Start up Scanner Test from the Microtelt
ScanWizard for Windows 98 folder in the
Programs menu. When started up successfully,
the screen below appears

glass. The top left comer of the document
should be at the ‘0,0" position on the ruler
guides running alongside the scanner.
6. Click the Flatbed button.

9 To scan the document‘ start up your software
application to bring up the Microtek
ScanWizard, click on the Scan button in the
Preview window The image will be scanned and
delivered to your software application, where it
can be saved as a file.
For more details on how to operate your
stunner with Microtek ScanWizard, refer to the
Mirroteh ScanWtzard Reference Manual in your
CD~ROM.

1. Restart Windows 98. Select Start, Settings, and
Central Panel. Double-click the System icon
The System Properties dialog box appears. Click
the Device Manager tab.
Double—click “Universal serial bus controller” to
display two—line messages. “Intel 82371AB PCI
to USB Universal Host Controller" and “USB
Rout Hub".

If a yellow attention mark appears in front of the
“Intel 82371AB PCI to USB Universal Host
Controller" string, this means the driver — Intel
82371AB driver is not automatically installed,
For example, your computer 15 shown as the
above figure. You have two solutions to
approach:

The detected scanner is displayed in (he “Scanners
and Cameras Properties" dialog box.
Option 2: Check n by clicking the "System" icon in
the Control Panel dialog box, Then click the Deuce
Manager tab. The detected scanner is displayed in
the Image Device iiem.
