1 . Unpack scanner
Your Micmtek ScanMaker scanner comes With [W0
built—in interfaces: SCSI and USB. To operate your
scanner, you may choose either, not both, inletlnue.
See the graphic below to lmcala the different pans
on the back ofthe scanner. as well as the SCSI ID
dial and the scanner accessory purl.
Open your scanner package and check the
components as stated in yuut packing list. You
should install software first, then install hardware
Before proceeding any futthet, check that you have
the items listed on the packing list If any item is

Tum on your computer If you are usmg
Windows NT 4.0, log in as “Administrator" in
order to “install the software.
Insert the Microtek CD—ROM into your CD—
ROM drive. The Microtek Software Installer
screen should automatically come up.
Note: I] the Mirrorek Software Installer screen does
not come up automatically double-Elick "My
Computer" anyaur Windows desktop, then double
their the CD-ROM icon to start the installer
program.
When the Microtek Software installer scrzm
appears, click on each software program in the
order that it appears on the screen to install all
software components
click sonwars on the list to install.
For each software. follow the on-screen
instructions during installation Default values
are specified at every point during installation,
simply accept these values in continue
installation until you finish.

1. Click Start, Settings, and select Coutml Panel
Double-click the System icon in Control Panel,
then select Device Manager from the top.
2. Double-cltck Imaging Device or Microtzk
Scanners. Verify that your scanner is listed here.
Click “OK" to close all dialog boxu.
3 In Windows, 30 to “Stan. Programs‘ Micrulek
ScanWizard 5 for Windows", and select
Scanner Tzst. When started successfully, the

5. Scanning an Image
1. Place the image to be scanned on your scanner.
2. Press the scanners push button, or double-click
ScanWizard 5 icon on the desktop to launch
ScanWizArd 5.
3 When ScanWizard 5 is launched, it automatically
performs a pressean on the material and places it
in the preview area.
4. In preview Window, you can resrze the floating
dotted lme around [he tmage by dragging on the
edges or comers of the frame to determtne the
final stze of the acrual scan.
5, Make adjustments using tool buttons, then click
the Scan to button The image is then scanned
and save to a file. Other than file saying. you may
also choose to deliver saved image to an image-
editing software, an e-mail editor, or a web
browser.

7. Troubleshooting
You might encounter problems on the software and
hardware installation. To solve the problems, see the
digital file (Troubleshootin&5551.pdj) m the Teclunftt
folder on your Microtek CD—ROM.
1 . Unpack scanner
Open your scanner package and check the
components as stated in your packing list. You
should install software first, then install hardware.
Before proceeding any further, check that you have
the items listed on the packing I'lSL If any item is
missing, contact Micro tek.
Your Microtek ScanMaker scanner comes With two
bulIt-ln interfaces: SCSI and USB. To operate your
scanner, you may choose etther. not both, interlace.
See the graphic below to locate the dilferent ports
on the back of the scanner, as well as the SCSI ID
dial and the scanner accessory port.

appears on your Macintosh desktop to open it

iMac updatejolder, then double-click the installer
icon, When the software license agreement dialog box
appears, Limit the ”Agree" button. Another dialog box
