About Your Audio System
Models with navigation system
See the navigation system manual for operation of the audio system.
Models withou t navigation system
The audio system features AM/FM radio. It can also play audio CDs, WMA/MP3/AAC
files, USB flash drives, and iPod, iPhone and Bluetooth® devices.
You can operate the audio system from the buttons and switches on the panel, the
remote controls on the steering wheel, or the icons on the touchscreen interface.

State or local laws may prohibit the operation of handheld
electronic devices while operating a vehicle.

USB Ports
Features
•Do not leave the iPod or USB flash drive in the vehicle.
Direct sunlight and high temperatures may damage it.
•We recommend using an extension cable with the USB
port.
•Do not connect the iPod or USB flash drive using a hub.
•Do not use a device such as a card reader or hard disk
drive, as the device or your files may be damaged.
•We recommend backing up your data before using the
device in your vehicle.
•Displayed messages may vary depending on the device
model and software version.
If the audio system does not recognize the iPod, try
reconnecting it a few times or reboot the device. To
reboot, follow the manufacturer’s instructions
provided with the iPod or visit www.apple.com/ipod.

Audio Antenna
Your vehicle is equipped with a removable
antenna at the rear of the roof.

NOTICE
Before using a “drive-through” car wash, remove the
antenna by unscrewing it by hand. This prevents the antenna
from being damaged by the car wash brushes.
* 1 : Models with the smart entry system have an ENGINE START/STOP button instead of an ignition switch.

Audio System Theft Protection
The audio system is disabled when it is disconnected from the power source, such as
when the battery is disconnected or goes dead. In certain conditions, the system may
display Enter code* 2 . If this occurs, reactivate the audio system.
■Reactivating the audio system
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON Ⅱ*1.
2. Turn on the audio sys
tem.
3. Press and hold the audio system power button for more than two seconds.
▶ The audio system is reactivated when the audio control unit establishes a
connection with the vehicle control unit. If the control unit fails to recognize
the audio unit, you must go to a dealer and have the audio unit checked.

Features
Displays the audio status and wallpaper. From this screen, you can go to various setup
options.
Using the button
Press the (display) button on the steering wheel to change the display.
Using the HOME screen

Features
You can change, store, and delete the wallpaper on the audio/information screen.
■Import wallpaper
You can import up to five images, one at a time, for wallpaper from a USB flash
drive.
1. Connect the USB flash drive to the USB
port.

2. Select Settings to go to the Settings
screen.
3. Select Info.
4. Select Clock/Wallpaper Type, then the
Wallpaper tab.
5. Select Add New.
▶The picture name is displayed on the list.
6. Select a desired picture.
▶The preview is displayed on the left side
on the screen.
7. Select Start Import to save the data.
▶Then the display will return to
the wallpaper list.

•When importing wallpaper files, the image must be
in the USB flash drive’s root directory. Images in a
folder cannot be imported.
•The file name must be fewer than 256 characters.
•The file format of the image that can be imported
is BMP (bmp) or JPEG (jpg).
•The individual file size limit is 5 MB.
•The maximum image size is 4,096 x 4,096 pixels. If
the image size is less than 800 × 480 pixels, the
image is displayed in the middle of the screen with
the extra area appearing in black.
•Up to 5 files can be selected.
•If the USB flash drive does not have any pictures,
the No files detected message appears.

1. Select Settings to go to the Settings screen.
2. Select Info.
3. Select Clock/Wallpaper Type, then the Wallpaper tab.
▶The screen changes to the wallpaper list.
4. Select a desired wallpaper.
▶The preview is displayed on the left side on the screen.
▶The pop-up menu appears on the screen.
5. Select Set.
▶The display will return to the wallpaper list.
■Delete wallpaper
1. Select Settings to go to the Settings screen.
2. Select Info.
3. Select Clock/Wallpaper Type, then the Wallpaper tab.
▶The screen changes to the wallpaper list.
4. Select a wallpaper that you want to delete.
▶The preview is displayed on the left side on the screen.
▶The pop-up menu appears on the screen.
5. Select Delete.
▶The confirmation message will appear.
6. Select Yes to delete completely.
▶The display will return to the wallpaper list.

From the pop-up menu, select Preview to see a
preview at full-size screen.
To go back to the previous screen, select OK, or
BACK.
When the file size is large, it takes a while to be
previewed.
To delete all wallpapers you add, select Delete All,
then Yes.

The SVC has four modes: Off, Low , Mid, and High.
SVC adjusts the volume level based on the vehicle
speed. As you go faster, audio volume increases. As
you slow down, audio volume decreases.

You can change the brightness or color theme of the audio/information screen.

To store a station:
1. Tune to the selected station.
2. Select MENU.
3. Select Save Preset.
4. Select the preset number you want to store that station.
Provides text data information related to your selected RDS-capable FM station.

You can store 6 AM stations and 12 FM stations into the
preset memory.
>>Radio Data System (RDS)
When you select an RDS-capable FM station, the RDS
automatically turns on, and the frequency display changes to
the station name. However, when the signals of that station
become weak, the display changes from the station name to
the frequency.

NOTICE
Do not use CDs with adhesive labels. The label can cause
the CD to jam in the unit.
WMA files protected by digital rights management (DRM)
cannot be played.
The audio system displays Unplayable File, then skips to
the next file.
Text data appears on the display under the following
circumstances:
•When you select a new folder, file, or track.
•When you change the audio mode to CD.
•When you insert a CD.
If you eject the CD but do not remove it from the slot, the
system reloads the CD automatically after several seconds.

Scan Folders (MP3/WMA/AAC): Provides 10- second

You can operate some of the Pandora® menu items from your vehicle’s audio system.
The available items are:

Pandora® is free, personalized radio that plays music and
comedy you’ll love. Just start with the name of one of your
favorite artists, songs, comedians or composers and
Pandora® will create a custom station that plays similar tracks.
Pandora® also features hundreds of genre stations ranging
from Dubstep to Smooth Jazz to Power Workout.
If you cannot operate Pandora® through the audio system,
it may be streaming through Bluetooth® Audio. Make sure
Pandora® mode on your audio system is selected.
Changing Stations
To change stations, activate the Pandora® menu, select
Station List, and then select a new station.

Available operating functions vary on software versions.

If there is a problem, you may see an error message on the
audio/information screen.

Pandora® may limit the total number of skips allowed on the
service. If you dislike a track after the skip limit has been
reached, your feedback will be saved but the current track
will continue to play.
Playing a USB Flash Drive
Your audio system reads and plays sound files on a USB flash drive in either MP3,
WMA or AAC*1 format.
Connect your USB flash drive to the USB port, then select the USB mode.

When there are more than two paired phones in the
vehicle, the first paired phone the system finds is
automatically linked.
If more than one phone is paired to the HFL system,
there may be a delay before the system begins to play.
In some cases, the name of the artist, album, or track
may not appear correctly.
A NO CONNECT message may be displayed if:
• The phone is not linked to HFL.
• The phone is not turned on.
• The phone is not in the vehicle.
• An incompatible phone is connected.

If a disc error occurs, you may see the following error messages.

Unplayable File Track/file format not supported
Solution
●Current track/file will be skipped. The next supported track/file
plays automatically.
●Press the (eject) button and remove the disc, and check that the
error message is cleared.
●Check that the disc is not damaged or deformed, and insert the
disc again.

●Insert a different disc.
If the new disc plays, there is a problem with the first disc.
●If the error message repeats, or the disc cannot be removed,

iPod/USB Flash Drive
If an error occurs while playing an iPod or USB flash drive, you may see the following error
messages. If you cannot clear the error message, contact a dealer.

Error Message Solution
USB Error Appears when there is a problem with the USB adapter unit. Check if the device is compatible
with the USB adapter unit.
The connected USB device has a problem.
See Owner’s Manual Appears when an incompatible device is connected. Disconnect the device. Then turn the
audio system off, and turn it on again. Do not reconnect the device that caused the error.
Unsupported Version Appears when an unsupported iPod is connected. If it appears when a supported iPod is
connected, update the iPod software to the newer version.
Connect Retry Appears when the system does not acknowledge the iPod. Reconnect the iPod.
Unplayable File Appears when the files in the USB flash drive are DRM or an unsupported format. This error
message appears for about 3 seconds, then plays the next song.
No Data
Appears when the USB flash drive is empty or there are no MP3, WMA, or AAC files in the
USB flash drive.

Check that compatible files are stored on the device.
Unsupported Appears when an unsupported device is connected. If it appears when a supported device is

Voice control tips
• Press and release the button when you want to
call a number using a stored voice tag, a
phonebook, name or a number. Speak clearly and
naturally after a beep
• If the microphone picks up voices other than yours,
the command may be misinterpreted.
• To change the volume level, use the audio system's
VOL (Volume) or use the remote audio controls on
the steering wheel.
State or local laws may prohibit the operation of
handheld electronic devices while operating a
vehicle.

HFL Limitations
An incoming call on HFL will interrupt the audio system
when it is playing. It will resume when the call is ended.
(Pick-up) button: Press to go directly to the Phone screen, or to answer an incoming
call.
(Hang-up/Back) button: Press to end a call, go back to the previous
command, or to cancel a command.
(Talk) button: Press to call a number with a stored voice tag, a phonebook, name, or a
number.

The audio/information screen notifies you when there is an incoming call.

Certain manual functions are disabled or inoperable while the vehicle is in motion. You cannot
select a grayed-out option until the vehicle is stopped.
Only previously stored speed dial entries with voice tags, phone book names, or numbers
can be called using voice commands while the vehicle is in motion.

The maximum range between your phone and

HFL can display newly received text or e-mail messages as well as 20 of the most recently
received messages on a linked cell phone. Each received message can be read aloud and
replied to using a fixed common phrase.

If your vehicle’s airbags deploy or if the unit detects
that the vehicle is severely impacted, your vehicle
automatically will attempt to connect to the
HondaLink operator. If connected, information
about your vehicle, its location, and its condition
will be sent to the operator; you also can speak to
the operator when connected.
IMPORTANT: For vehicles equipped with HondaLink Assist, owner activation constitutes
authorization for Honda to collect information from your vehicle needed to provide the service,
and agreement to the Terms of Use at www.hondalink.com/ TermsAndConditions. In a crash,
HondaLink Assist will attempt to notify emergency services but NEITHER HONDA NOR ITS
SERVICE PROVIDERS GUARANTEE THAT SUCH NOTIFICATION WILL OCCUR.
Honda reserves the right to terminate HondaLink Assist services at any time or for any reason,
and in the future may not be able to provide services due to changes in, or obsolescence of,
technology integral to the service or changes in governmental regulation.

Your vehicle may not be able to connect to the operator if
the battery level is low, the line is disconnected, or you do
not have adequate cellular coverage.
You cannot use this emergency services when:
•You travel outside the HondaLink service coverage areas.

itself.
You cannot operate other phone-related functions using the
screen while talking to the operator. Select Hang Up to
terminate the connection to your vehicle.
