1-1. Card Lock
This Specifications Manual applies to the ALFH card lock that is used as a key for the contactless IC
card “FeliCa” issued by special issuing machines.

2-1. Cards
The ALFH hotel card lock is used as a card key for the contactless IC card FeliCa.
* Please refer to “6. Appendix” for a list of the types of cards available.
(1) The FeliCa card issued by special issuing machines protects all the key data contained, so
the data is very difficult to copy, alter or forge.
(2) It is possible to combine various applications that utilize the features of FeliCa.
* Please inquire separately when uploading other applications.
2-2. Outline of Functions
2-2-1. Data Verification
(1) Unlocking can be performed simply by holding up the card near the Lock Antenna.
(2) Unlocking will occur only when the input data set up beforehand in the hotel card lock (room
number and time, etc) and the key data in the card key are compared and found to match the
information within the lock.
(3) When a re-issued card key is used in the lock, it becomes no longer possible to use the card.
* In the event of a lost card, once a re-issued card is used in the lock there is no chance of
use by somebody else trying to use the old card.
(4) When a valid card key is used, the “Decoding Lamp” will light up orange and the “Verification
OK” lamp will light up green, whereupon the door will be unlocked only for a previously set
time. If the card does not match the lock, the “Verification NG” lamp will light up red, and
the door will stay locked.
2. Outline of Devices
2-2-2. Record of Use
(1) Up to 600 lock-opening operations using the card key are recorded from the most recent
date. Once 600 operations are recorded, new operations are recorded over old ones from
the beginning.
(2) Operations that show a verification error are also recorded up to 40 times in order of the
most recent date, as per the lock-opening operation.
2-2-3. Battery Power/Buzzer
(1) Four triple-A alkaline dry batteries are used, which will last about one and a half years (if
used 10 times per day).
(2) If the Master Card/Sub Master Card is used when the battery power runs low, the LED and
buzzer will inform the user that the batteries need replacing.
(3) The buzzer can be set in the “On” or “Off” position.

2-2-4. Other Functions
(1) IrDA communication function (infrared light communication) can be used when lock-setting
data entry/confirmation or record-of-use data confirmation is performed using a data input
unit.
(2) Lock-setting data and record-of-use data are stored in the flash memory so data will never
be lost even if the batteries within the lock run out.
(3) The lock clock will be backed up for about 5 minutes when the batteries are replaced.

3-1. USA-Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant
to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference
to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can
be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Caution:
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for product compliance
could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
Labelling
MIWA LOCK Hotel Card Lock ALFH is labelled as below.
FCC ID: VBU -ALFH
The proposed FCC ID label format is to be placed on the module. If FCC ID is not visible when the
module is installed into the system, “Contains FCC ID: VBU -ALFH” shall be placed on the outside of final
host system.
