Wi-Fi connect
Use a Wi-Fi netw ork for even faster Internet access.
Touch the status bar at the top of the home screen and
drag it dow n. Touch Wi-Fi net works available , and select
a preferred netw ork.
You can also touch M enu

networks > WLAN settings to search for and connect to
w ireless netw orks. There’s more in “ Wi-Fi networks” on

Your touchscreen is on w hen you need it and off w hen
you don’t.
• To make your touchscreen sleep or w ake up, just
press Pow er
• When you hold the smartphone to your ear during
calls, your touchscreen sleeps to prevent accidental
touches.
• To change how long your smartphone w aits before
the screen goes to sleep automatically, touch

The home screen gives you all your latest information in
one place. It’s w hat you see w hen you turn on the
smartphone or touch Home
from a menu. It’s
basically like this:

room for adding shortcuts, w idgets, and more. Flick the
home screen left and right to see more panels or to add
w idgets or shortcuts.

On your home screen, shortcuts are icons that open
your favorite apps, w eb bookmarks, contacts, mail
labels, or music playlists. Widgets show you new s,
w eather, messages, and other updates.
To see other panels of shortcuts and w idgets, flick the
home screen left or right. Or, touch Home

a thumbnail to go to the panel.

you feel a vibration, then drag it to another spot,

Scroll to and touch the app you w ant to install. Then,
touch I nstall (if app is free) or Buy.
New apps that you install are added to the app menu.
Tip: Choose your apps and updates carefully, from

Note: When installing an app, make sure you read the
alerts that tell you w hat information the app w ill access.

Apps are great. There' s something for everyone. Play,
communicate, w ork, or have fun. But remember, choose
your apps carefully. Here are a few tips:
• To help prevent spyware, phishing, or viruses from
affecting your phone or privacy, use apps from trusted
M obile M arket .

• Just like w eb brow sing, you may w ant to monitor
childrens’ access to apps to help prevent exposure to
inappropriate content.
• Certain apps may not provide completely accurate
information. Take care, especially w hen it comes to
personal health.
Update my smartphone
You can check, dow nload, and install smartphone
softw are updates using your smartphone, or using your
computer:
• Using your smartphone:
You may get an automatic notification of an available
update on your smartphone. Simply follow the
instructions to dow nload and install.

mobile netw ork. Remember, these updates can be
quite large (25M B or more) and may not be available

plan, or mobile netw ork updates are not available in
your country, you can update using a computer.

links. If an update is available, follow the installation

Get all your contacts, all in one place. Here’s a few
helpful hints:

• To call, text, send an email, or see other options,
touch and hold the contact.
All your Gmail contacts w ill automatically get synced
to your phone. Various computer applications for
mobile phones and email accounts allow you to
export your contacts as a “.CSV” file. You can then use
Gmail to import the file. For more details, go to
w w w .motorola.com/transfercontacts or log in to your
Gmail account on your computer and select “ Help”.

• To respond to a message, just open it and enter your
response in the text box at the bottom.
Tip: To send and receive large attachments faster, use a

Email
The first time you turned on your smartphone (see “ Set
up & go” on page 3), you probably logged in to your
Gmail™ account. You can add any other email account
that you set up.
To add other email accounts to your M essages w idget

When you have a new voicemail,

New voicemail notification to listen to your voicemail

> Voicemail settings.

Input methods
To select an input method, touch and hold a text entry
area on the screen to open the Edit t ext menu. Touch
I nput met hod, then touch the method you want.

Multi-touch keyboard

Enter text a letter at a time. As you type, your
smartphone suggests w ords from your dictionary and
chosen language. The smartphone also automatically
enters apostrophes in some w ords, like “ dont.”

Firefox™ brow ser. Create and share documents,
spreadsheets, and presentations w ith online tools, like
Google Docs.
• At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see App
Shortcuts.
You can open multiple Firefox brow sers.
• At the top right of the screen, you’ll see icons for
status and Settings.
For help in the w ebtop application, open Settings
> Help at the top right of the screen.
To open the webtop application, connect your
smartphone to an HD display or monitor using an
optional dock accessory.

When you find an interesting w eb page, you can send it
to your smartphone. In the Firefox brow ser, select “ File
> Send” to phone. If prompted to complete the action,
select Brow ser. The w eb page opens in your phone
brow ser.
