Let’s go Turn it on & off To turn your phone on or off, press and hold Pow er/End Activate SIM cards Your phone supports tw o SIM cards. When tw o SIM cards are installed, you can activate one or both SIM cards. 1 From the home screen, press M enu (right soft key) to open the app menu. 2 Select Settings > DUAL SI M set tings. 3 Select Dual SI M open , Only SI M 1 open, or Only SI M 2 open . Note: If only one SIM card is installed, it w ill be activated by default. M ake & answ er calls To make a call from the home screen, enter a number, then press Call Note: If two SIM cards are activated, choose w hich SIM card you want to use. Let’s go To answer a call, press Call . To turn off the incoming call alert, press Reject . An optional microSD memory card can be installed in your phone—you can load it up w ith music, photos, and videos from your computer (see “ M emory card & file transfer” on page 38). Let’s go Keys a few essentials M enu navigation 1 From the home screen, press M enu (right soft key) to open the app menu. Calls 13 Emergency calls Note: Your service provider programs one or more emergency phone numbers (such as 911 or 112) that you can call under any circumstances, even w hen your phone is locked. Emergency numbers vary by country. Your pre-programmed emergency number(s) may not w ork in all locations, and sometimes an emergency call cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or interference issues. 1 Enter the emergency number in the home screen. 2 Press Call to call the emergency number. Cool dow n In very limited circumstances, such as w here your phone has been exposed to extreme heat, “ Cool Dow n” message screens w ill appear. To avoid possible damage to your battery and phone, you should follow these instructions until the phone is w ithin its recommended temperature range. When you finish composing the message, press Options > Send to, then: • To enter a phone number, select Enter recipient , type the number, then press Options > Done . • To enter a contact, select Add from Phonebook . To send the message, press Options > Send. Note: If two SIM cards are activated, choose w hich SIM card you want to use. Receive a message When you receive a message, your phone plays an alert and show s the new message indicator at the top of the screen. To read the new message, press View . Playlists To create a new playlist, press M ultimedia > M edia player > Playlists, then press Options > New . To add a song or video to a playlist, open it and press Options > Add. 24 M usic To delete or rename a playlist, highlight it and press Options. Hide and turn off Press Pow er/End to use another app. Your media continues to play. If you use Fun & Games or FM radio the media player is turned off. Alternatively, you can press Options > Channel list , highlight the channel number, and press Options > Play. 26 Radio Phot os see it, capture it, share it! Take & share photos Take that family photo, and send it to everyone. Find it: Camera Your phone show s the camera view finder. Press left/right to increase/decrease exposure. Use your phone’s brow ser to surf your favorite w eb sites, upload videos to a video blog, and dow nload files and applications to your phone. Log onto your internet-based email account to check your email. Find it: I nternet > I nternet service To... Go to your home page Select Homepage . Go to a web page Select I nput address. Bookmark a w eb page Press Options > Add to Bookmarks. Go to a link on a w eb page Select the link. Note: If you can’t connect, contact your service provider. Web 29 Personalize add your personal touch Profiles Your phone has different profiles. You can customize ringtones, alerts, and volumes for each profile. Find it: User profiles You can select these profiles: profiles General Standard profile default setting. Silent Ringtone is off, vibrate is off. Outdoor Ringtone and key tone volume are set to maximum. I ndoor Ringtone is on, vibrate is off. Vibration Vibrate is on. Headset Adjust profile settings for w hen a w ired headset is plugged into your phone. Bluetooth Adjust profile settings for w hen a Bluetooth™ headset is connected to your phone. 30 Personalize To change a profile’s settings, press Options > Customize . You can adjust these settings: settings Tone set tings Set ringtones for incoming calls (for each SIM card), messages, key tones, and other events. Volume Set the volume for ringtones and key tones. Alert type Set to Ring only, Vib. only, Vib. and ring, Vib. then ring, or Silent . Ring t ype Set to Single , Repeat , or Ascending. Extra tone Play an extra tone for Warning, Error , Camp on , and Connect . Answer opt ions Set to answ er calls by pressing any key. Display settings To set display options such as w allpaper and home Settings screen appearance, press > Phone settings > Display. Personalize 31 Date & time Set date, time, time zone, and formats: Set tings > Phone settings Find it: > Time and date Language Set menu language: Find it: > Language 32 Personalize Set tings > Phone settings M anage your lif e stay on top of things Calendar Find it: Tools > Calendar To view your calendar in different ways, press Options > Jump to date or Go to weekly view . Add calendar events From any calendar view, press Options > Add event > Reminder , M eeting or Course . Enter event details and press Options > Done > Yes. Edit calendar events To edit an event, press Options > View > Options > Edit . Edit event details, then w hen you’re done, press Done > Yes. Tasks Find it: Tools > Tasks To add a task, press Add > Date , Call , or Anniversary. M anage your life 33 Alarm Find it: Tools > Alarm To turn on an alarm, highlight it and press On and press , scroll to When an alarm sounds, press Stop to turn it off or Snooze to delay. To set a snooze period, highlight the alarm, then press Edit > Snooze (min). To set FM radio as your alarm, highlight the alarm, then press Edit > Alarm tone > FM radio. Press Options to Open , create New folder , Rename , Delete , and more. 34 M anage your life Airplane mode Use airplane mode to turn off all your w ireless connections—useful w hen flying. Find it: > Flight mode Set tings > Dual SI M settings Note: When you select airplane mode, all w ireless services are disabled. You can then turn Bluetooth™ back on, if permitted by your airline. Other w ireless voice and data services (such as calls and text messages) remain off in airplane mode. Emergency calls to your region's emergency number (e.g., 911) can still made. M anage your life 35 Bluet oot h™ w ireless lose the w ires and go w ireless Turn Bluetooth pow er on or off Find it: > Power Set tings > Connectivity > Bluetooth When Bluetooth pow er is on, the Bluetooth indicator appears in the home screen. Note: To extend battery life, turn off Bluetooth pow er w hen not in use. Connect new devices To connect w ith a new device, you need to pair w ith it. You only need to do this once for each device—to connect again, see “ Reconnect devices” on page 37. 1 M ake sure the device you are pairing w ith is in discoverable mode (see device instructions). Set tings > Connectivity 2 Press > Bluetooth > M y device > Search new device . Note: If Bluetooth power is not turned on, your phone w ill ask if you w ant to Power on Bluetooth first ? Press Yes. 3 Your phone lists the devices it finds w ithin range. Highlight a device and press to connect. 36 Bluetooth™ w ireless 4 If necessary, enter the device passkey (like 0000) to connect to the device. Tip: For specific information about a device, check the instructions that came w ith it. For more Bluetooth support, go to w w w .motorola.com/Bluetoothsupport. Alw ays obey the law s and drive safely. Reconnect devices To automatically reconnect your phone w ith a paired device, simply turn on the device. To manually reconnect your phone w ith a paired device, select the device name in the M y device list. Disconnect devices To automatically disconnect your phone from a paired device, simply turn off the device. To manually disconnect your phone from a paired device, select the device name in the M y device list. Bluetooth™ w ireless 37 M em ory card & f ile t ransf er load music, photos, and more on your phone microSD M emory card To format your memory card, press File manager > M emory card > Format . Warning: When you format a memory card, all data on the card is deleted. To see files stored on your memory card, press File manager > M emory card > Open . To copy or move a file from your phone to your memory card: 1 Press File manager > Phone > Open. 2 Select the file, then select Copy or M ove . 3 Select M emory card > Open . 4 Scroll to the destination folder and press Options > Select . USB drag & drop Note: This feature requires an optional accessory. You can drag & drop your pictures, videos, music, and more from your computer to your phone’s memory card. 38 M emory card & file transfer Note: Copyright—do you have the right? Note: When your phone is connected to a computer, it cannot be used for anything else, including making emergency calls. To restore the phone to normal use, disconnect it from the computer. 1 With a memory card inserted and your phone show ing the home screen, connect a M otorola micro USB data cable from your phone’s micro USB port to a USB port on your computer. 2 Your phone show s a USB config dialog. Scroll to M ass storage and press OK. You can’t use the files on your memory card w hile it is connected. 3 On your computer, use the “ M y Computer” w indow to find “ Removable Disk.” 4 Click on the “ Removable Disk” icon to access the memory card. 5 Drag & drop files betw een your computer and memory card folders. 6 When you’re done, use the “ Safely Remove Hardware” feature to finish. M emory card & file transfer 39 Securit y help keep your phone safe Codes & passw ords Your SIM card PIN code is originally set to 1234 . If your service provider didn’t change the PIN code, you should change it. Set tings > Security settings Find it: > SI M 1 securit y settings or SI M 2 security set tings > Change password If you forget your SIM card PIN code: If you forget your PIN code, try entering 1234. If that doesn’t w ork, contact your service provider. Lock your SIM You can lock your SIM card to keep others from using it. You’ll need to enter your SIM card PIN code to lock or unlock the SIM card. Settings > Security settings Find it: > SI M 1 securit y settings or SI M 2 security set tings > SI M lock 40 Security Lock keypad You can lock your phone’s keypad and keys to prevent unw anted phone operations. Settings > Security settings Find it: > Auto keypad lock > N one , 5 sec, 30 sec, 1 min , or 5 min Your phone automatically locks the keypad and keys w hen no activity is detected for the specified interval. To unlock the keypad and keys, press Unlock then Space Security 41 Troubleshoot ing w e’re here to help Crash recovery In the unlikely event that your phone stops responding to key presses, try a quick reset. Remove the back cover and battery (“Assemble & charge” on page 5), then replace and turn on your phone as usual. Reset Reset default factory settings on your phone. Caution: This option erases all information you have entered (including contacts and calendar entries) and content you have dow nloaded (including pictures, videos, and music files) stored in your phone’s memory. After you erase the information, you can’t recover it. This option does not delete SIM card or memory card information. Thiswarrantyisnotvalidinthefollowingcases: • Defectsordamagesderivedfromabnormaluse. • Defectsordamagesderivedfromaccidentornegligence. • Defectsordamagesderivedfromtests,unsuitableoperation,maintenance, installationandadjustments,orderivedfromanyalterationormodificationof anytype. • Damagecausedtoantennas,unlesstheyareconsequencesofdefectsin materialorworkmanship. • Whenthecellularphonehasbeendisassembledand/orrepairedsothatits operationhasbeenaffectedorthatitcannotbetestedtoverifyanyclaimthat grantsthiswarranty. • Anycellularphonewithaserialnumberthathasbeenremoved,altered,or obliterated. • Defectsordamagescausedbyfoodspillsorliquids. • Whenthecablesofthecontrolunithavebeenstretchedorthemodule tongue-piecehasbroken. • Whenthesurfaceofthe“Product”anditspieceshavebeenscratchedor damagedduetonormaluse. • Leathercases. • Rentedcellularphones. • Whenthe“Product”hasbeenalteredorrepairedbynon-Motorolaauthorized servicecenters. • Whenthe“Product”hasnotbeenoperatedinagreementwiththeinstructions thataccompanythe“Product.” 7.
