Tools Page R900G EndpointInstallation and Maintenance Guide .6 .6 IX Figures Notes: This section provides a generaldescriptionof the ROOOG Endpoint for various natural gas meters that provide meter consmnptionand value-addeddata. The NeptuneROOOG Endpoint combinesthe field-proven R9OO@ radio frequency (RF) technology, developedby Neptune TechnologyGroup, into a retrofit module for current residentialand commercialnatural gasmetersfor American, Equimeter (SensusIRockwell),and Actaris (Sprague)gas meters for an automatic meter reading (AMR) solution that provides utilities with accurateconsumption, reduced meter reading times, and higher meter readingsuccessrates. The ROOOG is a one-wayRF module that operatesin the unlicensed002-928MHz bandwidth. The datais transmitted via a high power signal to an enhanceddata collection device, boosting rangeand meter readingsuccessrates, while reducing meterreadingtime. The R900Gwill attach to new or existing meters, and encodesconsumptionand tamper information from the meter to a handheld, mobile, or a targetedfixed network readingdevice. The R900Gmeetsboth FCCpart 15.247and Industry CanadaClassB regulations, allowing for a high output power AMRmodule that greatlyincreasesrange and meter readingsuccessrates. The R900module usesfrequency-hoppingspread spectrumtechnologyto avoid RF interference and enhancesecurity. The ROOO module transmits the consumptiondata, tamper conditions and value-addeddata, and a unique 10-digitRF MIU ill every 14seconds.The ROOOG Endpoint is an Factory Mutual (FM) approveddevice for Class1, Division 1 rating. The R900Gmodule is designedto offer advantagesto utility organizationsof all sizes: Incre~es meterreading accuracy Maximizesread successrateswhile minimizing readillg time Providesvalue-addeddata, suchas, tamper indications, reverseflow, and no consumptiondata. .Low cost of implementationand mpid ROI The NeptuneR900Gendpointsare availablein all cUlTentresidential and topmount commercial metersfor American, Equimeter, and Actaris natural gas meters R900GEndpointInstallation and Maintenance Guide ProductDescription Figure 1 R900G Endpoint R900G Programming The R9OOG is field-programmablevia an Infra Red (IR) port. At the factory, eachof the following items is progranunedinto the Mill: Serialnumber -Each R900module is given a unique serial number/identification number. To eliminate the possibility for duplicateID numbem, custom serial numbemare not available. Time betweenmetrologyreads -The R900module reads the metrology every 14seconds. meter .Time betweenR900module transmissions-The time betweenR900module transmissionsis set for approximately 14seconds.Customtime intervals are not available Field progammablefeaturesare the following: Existing index reading Pressurecompensation Testhand registration RF Protocol Error Detection The Radio Frequency(RF) protocol is comprisedof a header, datapacket, and an error detectionmechanismthat reducesthe possibility of erroneousdata. R900GEndpointInstallation and Maintenance Guide Product Description RF Frequency Control Algorithm The ROOO module'sfrequency-hoppingspread-spectrumhas a sequenceof at least 50 different channelsfor transmitting data.Associatedwith the 50channelsare 50 frequenciesthat can be pre-selectedin a pseudo random manner.These50 frequenciesare coded into the software. The R900module avoids 914MHz to preventpotential collisions with the Advantageprobe. RFTransmission Period and Randomness The randomperiod generationusesthe samerandomseedcreated for the channel definition to generatethe transmissionrandomness. The randomnessalgoritlun is defined so that no two consecutivetransmissionsfrom the two R900modules will interfere with one another. R900Module Rangeand ReadSuccess Rates The R900module is a radio frequencydevice that complies with FCC Part 15.247 allowing for a higher output power device. The higher output power coupled with the sensitivity of Neptune'sreadingsystemsenhancesa utility's range, minimizing the readingtime while maximizing read successrates. Verify that the site is safe for you and your equipment. Notify the customerof your presenceand tell the customerthat you will need accessto the water meter. If the Site Work Order does not havean Mill ill number on it, write in the ill number(s)of the Mill you are about to install. If the Site Work Order already has an Mill ill number on it, verify that it matchesthe ill numberson the Mill you are about to install. American Models AM-175/250 Index Removal Completethe following steps for index removal. Use a flathead screwdriver to puncture and remove the tamper plugs, if present. Use a large screwdriver to removeand discard the four lens mounting screws and the lens. Removethe gasket. Use a small screwdriver to remove the index mounting screws and theindex. Mounting of Index to R900GEndpoint Completethe following steps to mount the index to a ROOOG Endpoint. Carefully matethe drive dog from the index to the drive dog of the ROOOG Endpoint. Secure the index to the module using the two index screw from Step 4 in the previous section. Placeclear plastic covers over the front of the w1it. Use the four mountingscrews that are supplied to attach the entire assembly to the gas metermain case. Programtile installation. Test tile installation 7 Place new tamperplugs over the screws.
