Bernoulli’s rem makes a yacht sail
Th
e theorem that RC yachts sail forward is similar to the theorem that airplanes lIy. It
is because the cross sections of the wings and sails are Similar and propulsive force of
both airplanes and yachts is obtained from the etlect of wind. When a wind blows, the
speed at the wind on the surface of the front side and reverse side of the sail varies,
thereby enerating running iilt “7“, Running tilt “2" has force “V' which Pushes the RC
yacht si eways. To resist this ioroe “Y", the keel is useful. Running iilt ” transferred
through the keel becomes resistance “Y“ which negges the opposite force “Y". Then the
remalning force “X" moves the RC acht forward. he above theory Is called Bernoulli's
thénrem that explains how planes y and how yachts move forward.)
