TOSHIBA TY-WSP21 Wireless Speaker Operation Manual This product is a splash proof speakerand standardized as IPX5. The product isnot waterproof. Do not place the productinto water. Read the following safetyprecautions carefully before using theproduct. Thank you for purchasing this product.To use this product safely, read and understandthis operation manualthoroughly before usingit. After reading this manual, keep it in a safeplace so that it can be used when necessary. Safety precautions The information you need to prevent danger to the user and other people as well as propertydamage is described below. “Description of signs” shows different categories of the degreeof danger or damage that may occur due to wrong handling. “Description of symbols” showsthe meaning of the symbols. Description of signs Indicates that there is a risk of death or serious injury. Indicates that there is a risk of minor injury or property damage. Description of symbols Indicates “Prohibition” or “You mustnot do” with pictures and text. Indicates “Mandatory Action” or “Do asindicated” with pictures and text. What to do in the case of an abnormality  • Stop using the device immediately in case of an abnormality or failure. • Remove the USB cable immediately when water or any foreign object enters theinterior of the device. It may cause a fire or electric Usage  To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, • Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the unit . Refer servicing to qualified servicepersonnel. • Do not step on, throw, or drop battery or the power supply or unit, or expose them to a strong shock. • Do not throw the unit into fire. The battery could explode causing injury or death. • Do not install this unit in a confined or built-in space such as a book case or similarunit, and keep a well-ventilatedconditions. The ventilation should not be impededby covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, table-cloths,curtains etc. • Do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. • Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on this unit. • Place the unit on a flat surface away from sources of direct sunlight or excessiveheat. • The unit is not for use by children, and keep it out of reach of children. Rechargeable battery (Lithium polymer ion) 
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, • Do not attempt to replace the battery by yourself, it is built-in and is notchangeable. • Do not heat, disassemble, or short-circuit the battery. Doing so may cause thebattery and power supply to generate heat, rupture, or ignite. • Do not attempt to charge the battery in temperatures outside the temperaturerange of 0°-40°C . • Do not continue charging the battery if it does not reach full charge within thespecified charging time. Overcharging may cause the battery to become hot,rupture, or ignite. • Do not expose the battery to excessive heat such as under the sun or near the fireor the like. Overheat, leakage, or rupture may occur, resulting in burns or injury. If you touch the battery fluid, rinse it off with water and consult with the doctor. If thebattery fluid spills over the device, wipe it off without touching the fluid. Disposal • When disposing of this device, observe the laws, or ordinances and rules of the localgovernment. • When disposing of the battery, make a request to a recycle agency for disposal. About water resistance To use this unit, • Do not place the unit into hot or cold water. • Do not pour large amounts of water onto the unit. • Do not spray with water intensely. • Do not place the unit into hot or cold water with soap, detergent, or bath agent. • Be sure the cover for the Micro USB charge socket/Line-in socket is closed firmlywhen you use the unit.The rubber seal of the cover is made for water resistance. Do not let the rubber sealbecome dirty or scratched. If any foreign objects are attached to the rubber seal, wipeit with a clean dry cloth in a dry place. • Do not open or close the cover for the Micro USB charge socket/Line-in socket in alocation where it will be subject to water or high humidity. • If the unit falls into water or is covered with large amounts of raindrops or water,use a dry cloth to wipe it immediately. Open and close the cover for the Micro USB charge socket/Line-in socket with dryhands in a dry place after the water has been wiped off sufficiently from the unit. • Water may remain within the unit after it has been wet. Shake the water off the unitlightly and wipe the unit. If water remains within the unit and the unit is carried around, your clothes, floor, orbed may become wet due to water dropped from the unit.The degree of protection against water for this unit is equivalent to IPX5 (IP code). IPX5 means the product will not be harmfully effected by droplets from anydirection.Toshiba shall not be responsible for any damage caused by water entering the unitdue to incorrect handling and itwill not be covered by the warranty even if thewarranty period is still in effect. About using Bluetooth This unit is designed for use with Bluetooth?wireless devices compatible with the HFP, HSP,A2DP and AVRCP streaming audio profiles. Refer to your Bluetooth?device’s user manual ortechnical support to determine if your Bluetooth?device supports these profiles. Frequency band used This unit uses the 2.4 GHz frequency band. However other wireless devices may use 2.4 GHzfrequency band as well and may cause interference with each other. To avoid interference,please refrain from the use of the unit at the same time with other wireless devices. Certification of this device This unit conforms to frequency restrictions and has received certification based onfrequency laws, so a wireless permit is not necessary.However, the following action is punishable by law in some countries: • Taking apart/modifying the unit. Before use, fully charge thebattery by connecting the unit to a computer or a universal USB mobile charger through theprovided USB charging cable. The red Charge indicator turns on while the battery is charging. The red indicator will turn offwhen the battery is fully charged (around 2 hours). Note • When the battery voltage is too low, a low voltage sound is heard. Listening to Bluetooth?Music In order to use the unit for music playback functions through Bluetooth? the speaker mustfirst be paired with the Bluetoothdevice. Pairing: 1 . Press and hold the Power button on the underside to turn on thespeaker.A Power on sound is heard. Bluetooth?function will go into pairing mode and the blueLED will keep flashing. 2. Following the instructions in your device's user manual, activateBluetooth?on your device and search for otherdevices.Once you have found "TY-WSP21”, pair with the speaker. •A pass code is not required.Once connected, a pairing successful sound is heard.•The blue LED of the speaker will remain lit.Information:•This speaker will pair with the last connected device when that device is in range.• The Bluetooth?pairing can be canceled by pressing and holding the Power button for1 second. (Pressing and holdingthe Power button for 2 seconds or more turns off thespeaker.) •The speaker will be turned off if no device has been paired for more than 15 minutes.Playing BluetoothMusic: Once your device and the speaker are paired, you can play music on this speaker throughBluetooth 1 . Press the Play/Pause button either on your device or this speaker toplay or pause music.The blue LED will flash once per 5 seconds while in the Play mode. 2 Adjust the volume level on your device. Note •The speaker will be turned off if it has been in the Pause mode for more than 30 minutes.Turning off the power 1 Press and hold the Power button on the underside for 2 seconds ormore to turn off the speaker.A Power off sound is heard. Playing line-in Music You can connect an MP3 player or other portable audio device to this speaker via the Line-insocket. Note • Use the provided Micro USB – 3.5 mm plug cable. The Line-in socket cannot be used witha commercially availablecable. 1 .Plug the Micro USB plug into the USB socket using the provided Micro USB-3.5mm plug cable. The speaker will turn on automatically.2 . Plug the 3.5 mm plug into the headphone or line-out jack on yourdevice. 3. Turn on and play your device.4. Adjust the volume level on your device.Note • Since the USB Charge cable cannot be used while the Micro USB – 3.5 mm plug cable isbeing used, you cannotcharge the speaker. Changing the decoration ring You can change the decoration ring according to your preference. 1 . Turn the decoration ring anticlockwise to release it. 2 . Replace the decoration ring and turn it clockwise to lock it. Outdoor use/using in places where water drops may fall on the speaker
