Description: the product is an emergency Search And Rescue Locating Device powered by
Lithium batteries. Sealed inside the product, the batteries are in a pack containing two small
hermetically sealed pressurised primary Lithium Manganese Dioxide cells. Each pack has
its own heat-shrunk plastic casing, and incorporates physical and electrical short-circuit
protection.
Use Information
The batteries in this product have a limited service life: see label for expiry date.
The product contains no user-serviceable parts.
The product should only be disassembled by qualified service personnel.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECHARGE THE BATTERIES.

Under EC and US legislation this product is classified as a manufactured article, which does
not result in exposure to any hazardous chemicals under normal conditions of use. As such
the product does not require a Material Safety Data Sheet, and the following information is
provided as a courtesy:
The Lithium content of the battery pack within the product is less than 2g.

At the end of the products useful life, it is vital that the battery packs be disconnected from
the main unit to prevent false alarms. False alarms cause expensive disruption to Search and
Rescue services and may endanger lives as a consequence.
This operation should only be performed by qualified service personnel.
This product should be disposed of in a sensible and considerate manner, and in accordance
with local regulations. Take it to a civil recycling facility, or contact McMurdo for advice.

McMurdo Ltd hereby declares potentially hazardous content in some of its electronic
products.
Small amounts of the following substances may be present: beryllium oxide, lithium, lead (in
older products), brominated flame retardants, glass.
In keeping with European directive 2002/96/EC (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment)
and the provisions of IMO Resolution A.962(23) (Guidelines On Ship Recycling), McMurdo
strongly recommends that its products, including any battery packs, be disposed of in a
considerate and legal manner. Additional information, concerning the disposal of equipment

of Life Statement.
