4 5Introduction Congratulations on your decision to take the next step in improving classroom FM.Amigo eZync belongs to the Amigo FM product family from Oticon – a company that strives to provide superior solutions for school and home use. The Amigo family is extremely versatile, making life much easier for users in academic, professional and social listening situations. With Amigo eZync, channel management in educational surroundings have become even more manageable. 6 7Preparing the Amigo eZyncPower jackOn/Off buttonLED indicatorPowering the Amigo eZync To power the Amigo eZync, plug in the power supply (see picture) and connect it to the wall outlet.The Amigo eZync has a battery back-up that will last for up to  hours. It will automati-cally switch to battery power when the mains power is disconnected, and vice versa. The back-up battery may take several hours to charge when the Amigo eZync is powered for the first time. The battery charges continuously whenever the Amigo eZync is plugged in.NOTEThe battery cannot be replaced by the user. The Amigo eZync cannot be opened without damaging it.
8 9Where to place the Amigo eZyncThe Amigo eZync has a synchronisation range of approximately 1.5 metres. To ensure that the synchronisation commands actually reach the Amigo ear-level receivers, it is important to position the unit optimally.The best location is close to the door or in the corridor just outside the classroom. Then you can be absolutely certain that all receivers will be continuously synchronised and on the right channel.NOTEThe Amigo eZync will automatically synchronise all Amigo ear-level receivers within range and in all directions (360°). Synchronisation can also take place through walls.NOTEIt the wall outlet is located too far away from the Amigo eZync, the extension power cable can be used.
10 11Mounting the Amigo eZync on a wall The optimal position for this unit is 1.5 metre above the floor, next to the entrance (see page 11).Use the wall mount as a guide to mark the location of the holes.1. Drill the two holes in the wall.2. If necessary, insert anchors inside the drilled holes.3. Insert fasteners through the washer and wall mount.4. Gently tighten the until the wall mount is secure. Avoiding bending the wall mount. 5. If the Amigo eZync is to be used in a room, where only younger kids are entering, the Amigo eZync can be mounted lower than the recommended 1.5 meters.NOTEWhen installing the wall mount, note that the fasteners must not be over-tightened, as this bend it out of shape.1.5 m / 60 inchesCL
12 13When the wall mount has been installed, plug the power supply into the jack on the Amigo eZync. The Amigo eZync can then slide onto the wall mount:Align the Amigo eZync with the wall mount.1. Once the Amigo eZync is hanging on the wall mount, slide the unit to the left to lock it 2. in place.To remove the Amigo eZync, lift it a little and slide it to the right.3. Placing the Amigo eZync on a shelfIf If you occasionally need to move the Amigo eZync, use the stand that is supplied with the Amigo eZync. Simply connect the power cord, and place the Amigo eZync on the shelf.NOTEWhen using the portable stand, avoid placing the Amigo eZync anywhere where it can potentially drop to the floor.
14 15LED legendThe LED on the Amigo eZync does more than indicate that the power is on. It shows:Steady redOn and transmittingOff or ErrorBlinking redRunning on battery back-upTriple blinkSynchronising commandacceptedChoosing and changing channelsThe channel on the Amigo eZync can be changed by synchronising it with an Amigo T20/T21/WRP. To change the transmitting channel on the Amigo T20/T21/WRP transmitter, press andhold either the S button or the T button for two seconds to select one of the prede-fined lists of channels. When the channel number begins to blink, press S or T to change channel. As soon as you find the desired channel, press the SYNC button to confirm. The transmitter will then be locked on to the new channel.When the channel number is blinking you can return to the original channel by pressing the C-button. This will also return you to the transmitting screen.Whenever you need to change channel simply repeat the procedure.
16 17Synchronising the Amigo eZync Synchronising other manufacturers’ receiversThe Amigo eZync can be synchronised in the first 60 seconds after it has been turned on.  Within a distance of approximately 50 cm, press the SYNC button on the Amigo T20/T21/WRP. If the synchronisation is successful, the LED on the Amigo eZync will blink three times. With the Amigo eZync you have the possibility to synchronise Amigo ear-level receivers and Widex ear-level receivers.Visit www.oticon.com for a full compatibility guide.NOTEThe Amigo eZync will not syncronise receivers during the first 60 seconds after it has been turned on.
18 19Cleaning the Amigo eZyncThe Amigo eZync is moisture repellent, making it very easy to clean with a damp cloth.Appendix A: TroubleshootingProblem SolutionThe LED is not lit Check that the power cable is connected properly.Check that the Amigo eZync is turned on.The LED is blinking The Amigo eZync is running on battery back-up.Check that the power cable is connected properly.It is not possible to synchronise the Amigo eZyncSynchronisation takes place wirelessly with the aid of an Amigo T20/T21/WRP. If the Amigo eZync fails to confirm (with three blinks of the LED), try moving the transmitter closer or a little bit to one side. Then press the SYNC button again.It is possible to synchronise the Amigo eZync during the first 60seconds after it is turned on. To change the channel, turn the Amigo eZync off and on again, and synchronise it once more.For assistance with troubleshooting, or for answers to other questions, please consult your hearing care professional. 20 21Appendix B: Manufacturers’ warranty The manufacturer, Oticon, issues a one-year limited warranty to the original consumer of this product.This warranty comes into effect upon the date of original purchase of this equipment, and will remain in effect for one calendar year from that date.Please note that extended warranties may apply in your country. Please contact your local hearing care professional for more information.What is covered by this warranty?Any electronic component that, due to workmanship, manufacturing or design defects, fails to function properly under normal use during the lifetime of this warranty will be replaced or repaired at no charge for parts or labour when returned to the point of purchase. Transportation must be paid by the customer. If it is determined that repair is not feasible, the entire unit may be replaced with an equivalent unit upon mutual  agreement between the hearing care professional and customer.What is not covered by this warranty?This one-year limited warranty does not cover:Malfunctions resulting from abuse, neglect or accident.• Peripheral accessories as itemised within the product brochure, when such items are • later than 90 days from the original purchase.Instruments connected, installed, used or adjusted in a manner contrary to the •  instructions  provided.Consequential damages and damages resulting from delay or loss of this instrument. • The exclusive remedy under this warranty is strictly limited to repair or replacement as herein provided.Products damaged in transit unless investigated by the shipper and returned to the • warrantor with the investigation report.

Please consult your point of purchase for further information.The Amigo eZync contains a radio transmitter using short range inductive technology working at 3.714 MHz. The magnetic field strength of the transmitter is less than -15 dBµA/m @ 10 m.The emission power from the eZync is below international emission limits for Human Exposure. For comparison, the radiation of the Amigo eZync is less than unintended electromagnetic radiation from for example hair dryers, electric shavers etc. The Amigo eZync complies with international standards concerning Electromagnetic Compatibility.Oticon hereby declares that this Amigo product is in full compliance with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of Directive 1999/5/EC. WarningsThe Amigo eZync is not a toy and therefore should be kept out of the reach of children and anyone else who might swallow parts or otherwise cause  injury to themselves. Special attention should be paid to the smaller  components in order to prevent children from swallowing them and  choking.If a part is swallowed, see a doctor immediately.The safety of recharging batteries with the USB connector only is determined by the external equipment.
