It should always be availableto anyone else driving the vehicle, i.e. anyonerenting, borrowing or buying the vehicle fromyou.This manual describes the equipment availablefor the vehicle at the time of going to print.Some of the equipment described here will notbe available until a later date, or may only beavailable in certain markets.Some sections of this Owner's Manual do not ap-ply to all vehicles. If this is the case, a text at thestart of the section indicates which vehicles it ap-plies to, e.g. “Applies to vehicles: with bi-xenonheadlights”. Use only a soft cloth andobserve the notes in the Looking after and clean-ing the tablet chapter.WARNING–Do not allow the features of the Audi tabletto distract you from watching the traffic –taking your eyes off the road can cause anaccident. If the Audi tablet is not secured inthe retainer, it should always be stowedaway safely during journeys.–Do not use the Audi tablet from the frontseats in the areas around the airbags whilethe vehicle is being driven. Please also ob-serve the safety warnings in the "Airbag sys-tem" chapter under "Important safety noteson the front airbag system".–The surface of the Audi tablet may becomehot if it has been in use for a long period orif it is charging. If this occurs, avoid pro-longed contact with the surface of the Auditablet.CAUTION–Avoid exposing the Audi tablet to direct sun-light for prolonged periods.–Very high or very low temperatures (a com-mon occurrence in a car's interior) can causedamage to the Audi tablet and/or impair itsperformance. Please do not leave your Auditablet in the vehicle in case of extreme tem-peratures.Note–Vehicle settings can only be changed on theMMI control console.–Please handle USB cables and USB adapterswith care and avoid pinching or trapping ca-bles.–Please also observe the notes in the Mediachapter.–Please observe the note in the Modifica-tions chapter.–Please note that the Wi-Fi connection doesnot automatically enable you to use the In-ternet. Further information can be found inthe Audi connect chapter.–Depending on your vehicle model, the Auditablet may allow you to access services fromexternal providers. Audi cannot guaranteethat these services will be available indefi-nitely; this is the responsibility of the corre-sponding service provider.Setting upRemoving/securing the Audi tabletApplies to vehicles: with Audi tabletThe Audi tablet is located in the rear of the vehi-cle on the back of the driver's and front passeng-er's seats. The Audi tablet is secured in a retaineron the seat. Audi tabletIf the Audi tablet is not used for a while, thescreensaver or the standby mode will be activa-ted.–To switch on from standby mode: Briefly pressthe button  1 ð page 3, Fig. 1.–To cancel the screensaver: Tap anywhere on theAudi tablet display  1 ð page 3, Fig. 2.The Audi tablet can be switched on/off manually.–To switch on manually: Press and hold the but-ton  1 ð page 3, Fig. 1 for about three seconds.The Home screen will be displayed after youswitch the tablet on.–To switch off manually: Press and hold the but-ton  1 ð page 3, Fig. 1 until the Audi tablet isswitched off.If you switch off the Audi tablet manually andleave it in the retainer, it will not be switched onautomatically the next time you switch on the ig-nition.Note–If the engine is switched off and the batterycharge level is low, the MMI system and theAudi tablet will be switched off automatical-ly.–If the MMI, Wi-Fi on the Audi tablet or theMMI's Wi-Fi hotspot are switched off, onlythe Android apps and functions unrelated tothe vehicle will be available.–For some services, you may need to createan account with the relevant service provid-er before you can use the service for thefirst time.Setting audio outputYou can set the system so that the audio/videosource is output via the car's audio system or theheadphones on the Audi tablet.The audio output function can be set to the car'saudio system for either the left or the right Auditablet. The sound for the other Audi tablet canthen be output via wireless/wired headphones atthe same time.Adjusting the volume–Volume up/down: Press the button  2/3ð page 3, Fig. 1.–Mute: Press and hold the button  2 until themute symbol appears.The audio is always set to output via the head-phones when you switch the Audi tablet on.WARNINGThe volume of the audio sources (radio, CDplayer, etc.) should only be set at a levelwhich enables you to hear distant police andemergency vehicles clearly – failure to do socould result in an accident.NoteVery high/very low volume levels are auto-matically reduced/increased to a preset levelwhen you switch the Audi tablet on.Connecting headphonesNFC headphonesImportant: NFC and Bluetooth must be activatedon the Audi tablet and the Audi tablet must beswitched on and not be in standby mode.–Switch your NFC headphones on.–Hold the headphones1) on the NFC zone  3ð page 3, Fig. 1 of the Audi tablet to connectthe devices to each other via Bluetooth.Bluetooth headphonesImportant: Bluetooth must be activated on theAudi tablet and the Audi tablet must be switchedon and not be in standby mode.–Switch your Bluetooth headphones on.–Follow the instructions given in the operatinginstructions for your headphones to establish aBluetooth connection. 1) The NFC zone may be marked with an "n" on NFC devices.5xxx.xxx.xxx
Audi tabletWired headphones3.5 mm jack plugInsert the headphone connector into the Auditablet  2 ð page 3, Fig. 1 until the jack plug en-gages fully.WARNING–For safety reasons, the driver should onlyuse headphones when the vehicle is station-ary - risk of accident!–Please ensure that the volume of the Auditablet and of the headphones is set to aminimum before you put the headphoneson. You may otherwise damage your hear-ing.Note–If a set of headphones is connected to theheadphone connection  4 ð page 3, Fig. 1,the audio output is prioritised for the wiredheadphones. Any non-wired headphonesconnected will be muted.–When you connect a set of headphones, veryhigh volume levels are automatically re-duced to a preset level.–Please observe the notes in the operatinginstructions for your headphones.Inserting/removing an SD cardRAH-8165Fig. 5  Changing an SD cardThere is an SD card reader on the Audi tablet  6ð page 3, Fig. 1.–To prepare a tool: Use a paperclip as a tool bybending the end of one so that it is straight  1ð Fig. 5.–To open the cover: Press the end of the paper-clip into the round opening  2 ð Fig. 5 until theSD card holder springs out.–To remove the SD card: Pull the cover with theSD card holder  3 ð Fig. 5 out of the Audi tab-let and remove the SD card from the SD cardholder.–To insert an SD card: Put the new SD card intothe SD card holder  3 ð Fig. 5 and slide the SDcard holder into the SD card reader slot  4 untilyou feel it engage.The storage space on the SD card inserted is thenadded to the internal storage space of the Auditablet.WARNINGFor safety reasons, the card reader cover mustalways be closed while the vehicle is in motion- risk of injury!CAUTIONOnly use one-piece SD cards. If you use adapt-er cards (more than one piece), the SD cardcan become detached from the adapter (e.g.due to jolting). Parts could then get stuck inthe card reader, impairing the functionality ofthe system.NoteStore the SD cards in a suitable case to pro-tect them from dirt and dust and to avoiddamage.Charging the batteryThe Audi tablet's battery can be charged in thevehicle.Important: The ignition must be switched on.–To charge the battery: Secure the Audi tablet inthe retainer provided in your vehicle ð page 3.The battery will be charged automatically.WARNINGThe Audi tablet's battery is permanently in-stalled and must only be changed by an Audi 6

Audi tabletTroubleshootingSubject AdviceAudi tablet: The Audi tablet willnot switch on.The battery level is insufficient. Secure the Audi tablet in the vehi-cle's retainer ð page 3 and switch on the ignition. The battery willbe charged.Audi tablet: It is not possible tooperate the Audi tablet by touch.Ensure that the Lock Rear Seat Entertainment option is deactiva-ted in the RSE settings.Headphone connection*: Nosound comes out of the head-phones.Ensure that the battery for the headphones is charged and checkthat the headphones are correctly connected. If necessary, re-con-nect the headphones to the Audi tablet.Audi tablet: No connection to theWi-Fi hotspot.Ensure that both the ignition and the Audi tablet are switched on.Check the Audi tablet's Wi-Fi settings. The vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspotdata must be stored in the Audi tablet ð page 8.Audi tablet*: It is not possible tooperate the Audi tablet by touch.Check the child lock settings ð page 8.Wireless headphones*: No con-nection possible.Ensure that NFC and Bluetooth are activated on the Audi tabletð page 8.Wireless headphones*: Not func-tioning.Ensure that the batteries for the headphones are charged/func-tional.Audi tablet: The Audi tablet hasonly limited functions.Perform a Device diagnosis ð page 8 for the Audi tablet.
