PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
1. Do not expose to direct sunlight, very high or very low temperature. Remember! Operating
temperature for this device from 0 ° C to 40 ° C.
2. Keep the liquid away from the device. Do not store the device in high humidity. Moisture in
the device may cause short­circuiting of electronic parts and battery products. In case of
contact with liquid, immediately turn it off and remove the battery! Take the device to a
service center.
3. Do not place the device on uneven or unstable surfaces, this may lead to a fall off the device.
In cases of device damage, please contact the Service Center.
4. Do not push on the screen surface. Protect the screen from objects that can scratch or
damage it.
5. Avoid excessive pressure on the device, also do not let the bending of the case ­ this can
cause damage to both internal and external parts of the device.
6. Do not place the device in dusty or dirty environment.
7. Do not expose the unit to strong magnetic or electric fields.
8. Do not use various chemical solvents such as benzene for clearing screen and case. To
remove dust from the surface of the device, use a soft cloth. You can also use a few drops of
distilled water to remove dirt from your device.
9. Do not disassemble the device yourself.
10. Do not use a damaged battery, charger when damaged (broken body, bad contact, broken
power cord), damaged SD­card. When the battery is damaged (cracked housing, follows the
electrolyte, etc.), it should be replaced immediately.
11. Warning! The screen has a glass base! In the case of cracks on the screen, be careful, you
can get hurt! Do not use a damaged device! Contact the service center for repair.
12. Keep out of reach of children.

POCKETBOOK 701 OVERVIEW AND STRUCTURE
¶
POWER
Press and hold "Power" to enable / disable the device.¶Short press the "Power" can be assigned to
perform certain functions of the device.
POWER INDICATORD¶
Color display varies depending on the state in which at the moment found device:
• Green LED indicates that the device is active and performs some operation (for example, downloading
books, play music, or the connection).
• Red or orange light indicates that the device is charging.
• The light turns green or turns off when the device is fully charged.
TOUCH SCREEN
Using the Touch Screen technology, you can control the device. Use gestures to navigate to turn pages,
zoom text, create bookmarks and call context menu of applications. Learn more about using these features,
see the section "How it works PocketBook 701" on page 1.¶The screen responds to any press, so it can
deal with any object that does not damage the glass surface. We recommend using the stylus, which is
included in your package.
NAVIGATION
The front panel has three buttons to "Menu" "Home" "Return". Pressing the "Menu" button, a context
menu associated with where the user is located. When you click on "Home" comes out in the main menu
from any application or folder. The button "Return" ‐ returns to step back, returns to the previous menu,
or commit forcible closing of the program.¶Buttons "", "‐" are for setting speaker volume, or to browse the
pages when reading books (FB2 reader).
MINI USB CABLE
Mini‐USB cable that came with your PocketBook used to connect¶device to a PC for data exchange.
NETWORK ADAPTER
You can charge the device from the network using a network adapter that comes with PocketBook 701.
SD SLOT
¶Built‐in memory device can be supplemented with mobile Memory Card Micro‐SD.¶
INSTALLING AND REMOVING MAMORY CARD
Insert the memory card slot SD card (see Figure 1). You will hear a click, which shows the correct
installation. To remove the card, push it towards the device and release. At the same time fixing a
connector weaken and you will be able to pull a card from the slot.
AUDIO OUTPUT
Plug headphones or speakers (speakers) to the appropriate connector on the device (see picture on page 1
to listen to audio files on PocketBook 701. Connector is designed to connect the plug 3,5 mm. To connect
headphones with 2,5 mm. plug to use a special adapter.
RESET
Click on a long sharp object on the button that is recessed in the front panel, near the power button to
force a restart the device.
GETTING STARTED
Information in this section duplicates the User Manual "Quick Start", which included PocketBook 701. If
you're already familiar with it, you can skip this section and proceed to the next.
STEP 1. CHARGING
¶For the first time the device must be charged off from 8 to 12 hours.¶
PocketBook 701 can be recharged using the AC adapter cord from the electrical network.
¶To charge the device for the first time, follow successively the following points:
1. Make sure the power is turned off and the LED is not lit. If it is turned on, press and hold a few
seconds the button "Power".
2. In the menu that appears on the screen, select "off» (Power Off)
3. Connect the device with the power adapter.
4. The indicator turns red or orange, as soon as the charge.
5. The indicator turns green or turns off when the device is fully charged.
6.
Now you can unplug the device and turn it to the first use.
STEP 2. TURNING ON
Press and hold "Power" to turn the device. While inclusion on the screen‐saver image. When the device is

STEP 3. READING FULL USER MANUAL

Tap the icon "Library". A list of books you can read right now. Find "Full User Manual " and tap the name.
Text of e‐book immediately appear on the screen. In order to change the font size, spend the stylus along
the bottom of the screen, the symbolic ruler. Thus, you will zoom display the document. To turn pages,
spend your stylus up and down along the bottom of the screen, or use the buttons on either side of the
screen.
To close the book, click Cancel / Return to the front panel.
Note: While the book opens, some functions may be temporarily unavailable.
STEP 4. DOWNLOADING BOOKS FROM COMPUTER
Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.¶Once you connect the cable, internal device
memory and memory card SD, appear on the computer in the form of new discs.¶Copy of the book in a
special folder on one of these disks using Windows Explorer or any other system for working with files.
Now you can read downloaded books directly from PocketBook 701.
WHAT’S NEW IN POCKETBOOK 701
TOUCH SRCEEN
Enhanced navigation, handwritten notes and play were possible for PocketBook 701 with the appearance
of a built‐in screen technology Touch Screen.
Short press, you can select a menu item to open a folder or a book or select a song. Description of
additional features that are triggered by clicking on certain objects and areas on the screen are described
later in this guide.
BOOKLAND LIBRARY
PocketBook 701 allows you to view and read books from the library e‐book store BookLand. The device
gets access to the library through the Internet connection.At BookLand you will find:
• Wide range of contemporary artistic, scientific and business literature
• Free library of classic literature in Russian, Ukrainian and English languages

USING POCKETBOOK 701
This chapter describes the basic methods of interaction with PocketBook 701. In addition to the general
principles for each section, or mode of a device can be applied specific commands and scripts. On them
you will learn in later chapters.
NAVIGATION
Navigation on the device by using the touchscreen, which reacts equally well to the touch, like human
fingers and stylus.¶If any item is not displayed on the screen, the screen can be moved by clicking and
holding your finger (or stylus) on the screen and hold your finger in the direction opposite to the region
you want to view. Thus, you move the image within the screen.
¶To scroll the list up / down and just press your finger (or stylus) on the screen to hold them on the
screen up or down.
UNLOCKING TOUCH SCREEN
After switching on the device, you must unlock the touchscreen. To do this, press your finger (or stylus) on
the lock icon on the screen and hold the screen in this system towards the end of the screen.
SELECTING OPTIONS AND STARTING APPLICATIONS
To access the desired menu item, or run the program, enough to touch his image as an icon or list item on
the screen with your finger or stylus. Or by pressing and holding a finger (or stylus) on the desired item.
To go back to a previous state, simply click "Back" button on the front panel. In this case the running
application is minimized, but not closed. And continues to work.
STATUS BAR
Status Bar, which is located at the top of the screen can show the date, time and battery status. Also in the
status bar icons are displayed informing the device is connected to the network or computer via USB. The
status bar may appear periodically icon notification system, notification can be viewed by launching the
status bar. To do this, press your finger (or stylus) on the status bar, and hold down on the screen unfurled
to the desired size, or deploy the entire screen.

BOOKS QUICK ACCESS
For quick access to books, created a special widget "Recently opened". The widget is in the main menu, it

MAIN MENU
This screen appears when you turn on the device. To get here from other sections or modes, use the
button "Main Menu" on the front panel of the device, or successively press the "Back". In some
applications, you have to use the buttons and commands output, which supports a particular application.¶
From the home page you can:
• Back to reading books that you recently opened. To do this ‐ a finger (or stylus), touch the name of one of
the three books in the widget "Recently opened"
• Go to any thematic section. For example ‐ a library, notes, programs, dictionary, search, favorites. To do
this finger (or stylus), touch the desired section of a square area
• See the day, date, time and battery status
• To see the statistics read

BOOKSHELF
Books on the device Pocketbook can be arranged on bookshelves for your convenience. The user can
create new bookshelves at their discretion. Using option from the context menu «Shelves» set according to
different books bookshelves. The book can simultaneously meet different bookshelves.
The library user can use the search feature books by title or author. Arrange books in accordance with
their preferences, select how the books on a bookshelf, in the form of sketches of books or as a list. The
user can also cause a built‐in file manager to view the contents of the device.
BOOKLAND INTERNET LIBRARY
To access the electronic library BookLand, a section of the book, tap your finger (or stylus) bookmarks
BookLand, which stands right in the bookmarks bar. More information on the library please read below in
the section Digital Libraries" BOOKLAND "
FOLDER NAVIGATION
To open a folder ‐ tap a finger (or stylus) of the title. The folder will develop and display a general list of its
contents. To collapse all the contents back, touch the title again.
To open a file ‐ touch a finger (or stylus) of the title. If the file is registered in the system as being
processed by a program‐viewer, it will open the program.
To open the workbook in read‐only mode, click on her finger (or stylus). Book list ...¶You can also click
and hold your finger (or stylus) on the book in the list of books and in the context menu select open
(Open).
READING MODE

QUICK MENU
Quick menu option is invoked by pressing the Menu button on the front panel, a quick menu to the user
provides the following features:¶Commands menu options:
• Search (Search)
• Sorting: (Sort)
o Title ‐ (by name)¶
o Author ‐ (author)¶
o Date ‐ (by date added)¶
• Table \ List View ‐ (switching Thumbnails, List)
• Add Shelf \ Add Folder ‐ (a bookshelf (tag) / folder)
• Folders ‐ (file manager)
Search function lets find the book in the library by title or by author.¶Sorting feature allows you to sort
the list of books by title, author, date added.
Function Table \ List View allows you to switch display of books in the form of thumbnails or a list with
detailed information.
Function Add Shelf \ Add Folder lets you add new bookshelves (labels), or create new folders.
Function Folders ‐ launches the file manager that allows to view the contents of memory device. And to
work with programs and files are not installed on the device.
CONTEXTUAL MENU
Tap and hold a few seconds, a finger (or stylus) on the desired object ‐ a couple of seconds, a pop‐up menu.
In the books there are available the following commands:
• Open (Open)
• Add to Favorites (add favorites)
• Mark as Read (Mark Read)
• Shelves (Shelves (tags))
• View Info (Information)
If you select "Open", you can open the book in read mode.
By selecting "Add to Favorites" marked the book is added to your favorites.
Item "Mark as read" can mark you have chosen the book as read or remove such mark.
Item "shelves" allows you to map the different books bookshelves, including bookshelf "Favorites" or
bookshelves created by the user.
Item "Information" to view detailed information about the book.

ELECTRONIC LIBRARY “BOOKLAND”
¶To enter into an electronic library «BookLand», open the Library section of the main menu, and tap
finger (or stylus) bookmarks BookLand, which stands at right in the bookmarks list.

Note: To access the library BookLand you need to first establish a connection to the Internet via Wi‐Fi
connection. More information about configuring and activating the connection, see the Configuration
section.

REGISTRATION
Main menu e‐Library BookLand
Note: this feature is available for as long as the user is not asked¶access parameters (username and
password) in the settings.
To sign up for e‐library BookLand:
1. Open the Library ‐ to do this, click "Library" in the main menu.
2. Touch your finger (or stylus) bookmarks BookLand, which stands at right in the bookmarks bar.
3. Click the Register button and stylus central bottom of the screen.
4. Open the user agreement (Fig. 7). You must read and accept it for further registration. Press the stylus
button Agree to continue the registration process.

6. Enter your e‐mail address, which in future will be your login to enter the electronic library BookLand.
7. Enter a password and password confirmation.

8. Enter your name (optional) and a patronymic.
9. Click "Subscribe to News," if you want to get news by email.
10. Click "Apply" to complete your registration.
Now you can access to the electronic library with your login and password.
BOOKLAND ACCESS SETTINGS
To set up automatic access to the library use your login and password, adjust application BookLand:
1. Open the Library ‐ to do this, click "Library" in the main menu.
2. Touch your finger (or stylus) line BookLand, which stands first in the list.
3. Press your finger (or stylus), right‐click Settings at the bottom of the screen.
4. Dialog opens the "Settings" (Fig. 9).
5. Enter your email and password you provided during registration.
6. If necessary, set the folder to save the books downloaded from the library.
7. Check the "Load Images from the site, if you want to see the cover of the book next to her a brief
description.
8. Press your finger (or stylus) "Apply" to save the access settings.

MANAGING BOOKSHELF AND BOOKS
1. Open the Library ‐ to do this, click "Library" in the main menu.

3. Press your finger (or stylus) on the item "Bookshelf".
4. A list of the main bookshelves and bookshelves user.

ADDING BOOKS ONTO A SHELF
1. Open the Books ‐ for this, click the Book in the main menu.
2. Touch your finger (or stylus) line BookLand, which stands first in the list.
3. Find the right book at the library or bookstore and open its description.
4. (Only the store) Buy the book. To do this, click "Buy Now" and confirm the payment.
5. Click on the shelf. " The selected book will appear in the list on the bookshelf.

GETTING BOOKS NOVELTIES IN FREE LIBRARY
1. Open the Library ‐ for this, click the library are "in the main menu.
2. Touch the stylus to line BookLand, which stands first in the list.
3. In the menu section BookLand select a specific section:
• New store
• Rate shop
• New libraries, or
• Rating libraries.
SEARCHING BY BOOK CATALOGUE
In the catalog of books organized into sections and subsections on subjects.
1. Open the Library ‐ for this, click the library are "in the main menu.
2. Touch your finger (or stylus) line BookLand, which stands first in the list.
3. Touch your finger (or stylus) line catalog of books, to go to the thematic sections.
4. Touch the stylus to a particular topic to go to the list presented in her books.
GLOBAL SEARCH
While BookLand search dialog in the catalog of books can be opened by touching a finger (or stylus) the

While BookLand can quickly open a list of books by a particular author. To do this:
1. Open the Books ‐ for this, click the Book in the main menu.
2. Touch the stylus to line BookLand, which stands first in the list.
3. Touch the stylus to line Popular authors to switch to the description of the author / biography / reviews.
4. From there you can open a list of works which are in the library / store BookLand, referring to the
reference books of the author.

To see a description of available ways to replenish the balance in the electronic library BookLand, log into
the Book »‐« BookLand », and click on the inscriptions Balance.

READING MODE
The device can read books in FB2, FB2.zip, TXT, PDF, CHM, RTF, HTML, PRC, DJVU, DOC, EPUB, TCR.
FIRST STEPS
DOWNLOADING BOOKS TO YOUR POCKETBOOK 701 MEMORY
Connect your device to a computer using USB‐cable. The internal memory device (micro‐SD) and external
SD card will appear in the computer as two new disk. Using Windows Explorer or other programs, copy
books in the correct folder in the device memory or on SD card.
OPENING A BOOK IN “READING MODE”
To open the book, go to the menu item "Library". Click on the desired book. In case this is one of the last
open book, you can open it from the main menu. If you open a book before, it will be opened on the page
on which it closed the last time. On the right side of the screen will be a scroll bar to display progress in
reading books.

PAGING
To go one page forward or back, press a finger edge of the screen, on the other side, where we want to
make the transition. To browse page forward ‐ a pressing need at the edge of the screen to the right. To
browse page back ‐ the press should be on the edge of the screen on the left side.¶Paging can also carry

out basic menu commands by using the buttons "Previous Page" and "Next Page".¶While reading the PDF

INNER LINKS
Some format can perform a quick click on links inside the book. To follow a link, click and hold your finger
(for greater accuracy, use the stylus) on the desired link.

MANAGING BOOKMARKS
To create a bookmark in the book, simply click on the upper right corner of the screen, and the tab will be
created on the current page.¶To make the transition to the bookmark you want, call the context menu and
select the item in it «Bookmark». In the list of bookmarks made to select the desired bookmark.
MANAGING NOTES
Sometimes it is useful to save the selected piece of the book in a separate notebook. To create a new note
in the read mode call quick menu by pressing the "Menu" and then on the icon for "Notes". Finger (or
stylus), select the text you want to put a note: press your finger (or stylus) at the point where it will start
your note, spend the screen and release at the point where it will end with your tip. Menu allows you to
add a note to the existing notebook, or create a new notebook. When you select is displayed on‐screen
keyboard, with which you can give the name of the new note.

When you press the stylus on the paper, pop‐up menu, you can quickly jump to the original place in the
book, where it was made, or to change its contents.

To access the contents of the book, then use the stylus to click Contents in the menu shortcuts.¶Search for

LOOKING UP WORD IN THE DICTIONARY
To find the translated word in the dictionary:
1. Open Dictionary in the shortcut menu.
2. You will see a window of the dictionary.
3. Point your finger (or stylus) on the desired word to be translated on the page, or type a word using the
on‐screen keyboard.
SEARCHING BY KEY WORDS
To quickly find the desired words or parts of words in the text of the book, click the search button in the

VOCABULARY¶
Lets get translate typed words, using the established dictionaries. Once launched, the application displays
a virtual keyboard (on how to use the keyboard, see "Working with the keyboard). Type the word, and the
program finds in the dictionary to translate. You can turn pages of a dictionary. If you have installed
multiple dictionaries, you can switch between them.

In the "Search" using the virtual keyboard, you can specify the name of the book or its author, and find a
book without going to the section "Library".

SETTINGS
To go to "Settings", click "Settings" in the main menu.
In this section you can view information about the device, specify the language and script interface, enable
and disable the built‐in device, configure mode power consumption. Manage services, and installed
programs. Also see information about the device, memory status and the operating system and install the
current time and date.
1. Wireless networks.
1.1. Flight mode.
You can check this option if you want to switch the device into the lowest level of radiation, so the
