the infrared rays that are emittednaturally by people, animals, etc.,which correlate to the object’stemperature. InstallationImportant:RSwitch off the power of thecorresponding circuit beforeperforming any electrical work.RFollow all local codes andregulations.RInstallation should be performed bya licensed electrician.RThe switch cannot be used in 3-waycircuits, i.e., situations where twolight switches control the same lightfixture, such as at the top andbottom of a stairway.PreparationThese steps are necessary whenreplacing a switch.1Turn off the power to the circuit atthe circuit breaker or fuse panel.TEMP2Remove the existing wall plate,then remove the existing switchfrom the junction box.TEMPRBe careful not to touch anywires connected to the existingswitch.3Use a non-contact circuit tester toconfirm that the wires connectedto the existing switch are notcarrying power.TEMP10 For assistance, please visit http://shop.panasonic.com/supportSetup
4Disconnect the wires from theexisting switch.Wiring1Loosen each of the 3 screws onthe switch.2Prepare the wires to be connectedto the switch.RStrip each black wire as shownbelow. Snip any excess barewire if necessary.Axx mm (xx inches)RStraighten the bare copper wireif it is bent.3Insert the ends of 2 black wiresand 1 ground wire into the holeson the back of the switch asshown below, then tighten eachscrew.RPull slightly on each wire tomake sure it is firmly connected.RInsert the wires fully into theswitch. Make sure there is nobare wire exposed on the 2black wires.RIf the existing switch (the switchyou are replacing) did not havea ground wire connected to it,use a piece of bare copper wireto ground the new switch asshown.Finishing the installation1Carefully insert the switch into thejunction box.RBend the wires as necessary.Make sure there are no barewires exposed (except forground wires).2Use the xx-included screws tosecure the switch to the junctionbox.3Attach the included face plate.4Turn on the power to the circuit atthe circuit breaker or fuse panel.5Press the on/off switch to turn thelights on and off.RIf the lights turn on and off, youare ready to register the switchto the hub.Registering theswitchThis procedure is not required fordevices that were included as part ofa bundle.Before you can use the switch as partof the system, it must be registered tothe hub.If you purchased devices separately(i.e., not as part of a bundle), you mustregister each device to the hub.You can register each device by usingthe registration buttons or the [HomeNetwork] app.Using registration buttons1Hub:Press and hold M OTHERDEVICEN until the LED indicatorblinks slowly in green.2Switch:Press and hold M N until theLED indicator blinks slowly ingreen (page 7).For assistance, please visit http://shop.panasonic.com/support 11Setup
RWhen registration is complete,the hub sounds one long beep.Note:RTo cancel without registering theswitch, press M N on the hub andon the switch again.RIf registration fails, the hub soundsseveral short beeps.Using the appWhen you register the switch by usingthe [Home Network] app, you canassign a name to your devices andgroup them by location. Testing the motionsensorYou can observe the switch’s LEDindicator and test the performance ofthe motion sensor.1Press MN.2Move to an area near the switch.3While moving near the switch,observe the LED indicator.RWhen motion is detected, theLED indicator blinks veryquickly in red.4Note the areas where movementis detected.RYou can use the [HomeNetwork] app to adjust thesensitivity of the motion sensor.For more information, refer tothe User’s Guide (page 13).5Press MN again.Using the switch(manual control)RTurn on the lights by pressing the on/off switch.RTurn off the lights by pressing the on/off button.RBy default, the lights turn on whenmotion is detected, and turn off if nomotion is detected for xx minutes.You can use the [Home Network]app to adjust these settings.
