PAE T6T TRANSMITTER and T6R RECEIVER, VHF Multimode Digital Radio (MDR)PAE T6 SeriesThe PAE T6T Transmitter and T6R Receiverfor advanced airspace communicationsThe PAE T6T and T6R multimode digitalradios are designed to provide ground-to-aircommunications for professional applications in airport and en route centres. The radioswill support both voice and ICAO defineddata modes. The T6 series incorporates 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing. The radios recognizefrequencies entered in ICAO format andautomatically adjust to the correct channelspacing. For multichannel operation, anycombination of 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channelspacing can be programmed. A 100 channelmemory allows immediate recall of storedfrequencies. Front panel operation can be‘locked’ to prevent unauthorised adjustmentof radio parameters. The T6T supports ICAO defined offset carrieroperation. The standard master oscillatorsupports two, three and four-offset carrieroperation, the optional high stability oscillatoralso allows five-offset carrier operation. Theradio detects the oscillator fitted and will inhibitfive-offset carrier operation if the high stabilityoption is not detected.Careful implementation of DSP techniquessignificantly reduces the component count withinthe radios. This leads to increased reliability andreduced logistic costs. All modulation anddemodulation processes are carried out usingDSP algorithms that provide consistent long-termperformance to further enhance equipmentreliability. All adjustable parameters within theradios can be modified using the front panelcontrols, or from a computer connected to theheadset/diagnostics port, eliminating the need toremove equipment covers during the operationallife of the radio. The radios can be operated locally using the frontpanel controls, or remotely via flexible controlinterfaces. STANDBY mode allows the radios to bepowered on and off remotely to ensure minimalcurrent drain on local power supplies. The use of innovative RF engineering alliedto sophisticated DSP technology providesclass leading performance. The advanceddesign of the T6 series transmitter and receiverallows operation in demanding co-site conditions, reducing the need for external filters. The T6Ttransmitter employs a sophisticated feedbacktechnique that minimizes spectral noise andenhances signal purity. The power amplifier isdesigned for optimum performance and maximumreliability and will support continuous operation applications. The T6R receiver circuitry benefits fromunique DSP implemented Digital CoherentMute (DCM) technology. DCM uses speciallydeveloped algorithms that monitor on-channelactivity and dynamically filter unwanted interferingsignals. The receiver front-end has exceptionalsignal handling properties that ensure rejectionof unwanted off-channel signals while maintainingexcellent low level wanted signal performance. Comprehensive Built-In Test (BIT) monitorsboth static and dynamic parameters. Resultscan be viewed on the front panel LCD andsummarized via READY and ALARM indicators. AllBIT data is available for remote monitoring via serialports, and transmitters and receivers can be readilynetworked for remote monitoring using the PAEMulti-Access Remote Control (MARC) or similarsystems.
