GE JB400DP
Steam Clean Range
3. Close the door then press the Steam Clean pad.

INTRODUCTION
The lower oven bake element on model JB400DP
heats 8 ounces of water to steam, making it easier
to clean light soiling off the standard porcelain
oven interior. The Steam Clean cycle performs
best on new spills or soils. Burned-on food is more
difficult to remove.

4. Press Start/On pad.
TO BEGIN STEAM CLEAN CYCLE
Note: The range should be at room temperature
before beginning the Steam Clean cycle. If the
oven is too hot, “hot” will appear on the display
and the cycle will not activate until the oven cools
down.
1. Remove racks, accessories, and any cookware
from the oven cavity.
Note: Do not add cleaning solutions or chemicals
of any kind to the water.
2. Pour 8 oz. of water into the recessed area of
the oven floor.

5. A 30-minute cycle will begin to count down on
the display.
WARNING: The oven bottom and any remaining
water will be very hot. Wait until the end of the
Steam Clean cycle before wiping out the oven.
6. When the Steam Clean cycle is complete, the
oven control will beep and the Steam Clean
light will blink. Press the Clear/Off pad.
7. Remove the soils with a scrub brush or a nylon
scouring pad, taking care to keep the door
gasket clean. A steel wool pad should only be
used on the porcelain interior.
8. Remove any remaining water with a dry cloth
or sponge and leave the door open to air dry.
THE STEAM CLEAN OPERATION
The Steam Clean feature operates in the following
manner:

1. The control checks for the oven temperature to
be less than 120oF using the sensor circuit. If the
temperature is greater than 120oF, the control
displays “Hot” and does not allow the cycle to
begin.
2. The control checks that the door switch is
closed. If the door switch is open, the control
displays “dor” and does not allow the cycle to
begin.

of the cycle.

•

The door gasket may be wet when the Steam
Clean cycle finishes. This is normal. Do not clean
the gasket.

•

If soil still remains after cleaning the oven, see
the “Care and Cleaning of the Range” section of
the Owner’s Manual for additional options.

press the Clear/Off pad to end the cycle. Wait
for the range to cool to room temperature

initiating another steam cycle.

cycle. An error beep will sound upon opening the
door.
