CONTROL PANEL BUTTONS, BEEPS, AND BLINKS. It’s how you and your CatGenie® communicate. How long is the Cleaning Cycle? Scooping, washing and sanitizing take 17 minutes. Drying takes an additional 17 minutes. When does the wash water start to fill the CatGenie? After the GenieHand scoops out the solids, water slowly flows into the Bowl. BUTTONS 1. START CYCLE/PAUSE Button Use to manually START or PAUSE a Cleaning Cycle. • To START a Cleaning Cycle, Press & Release the Start Cycle/Pause Button • To PAUSE a Cleaning Cycle (Auto or Manually initiated) Press & Release the Start Cycle/Pause Button. When in PAUSE, the In Process LED Blinks • To take off PAUSE, Press & Release Start Cycle/Pause Button again. If left in PAUSE mode, the Cleaning Cycle automatically resumes after 10 minutes 2. AUTO SETUP Button Once programmed, automatically STARTS Cleaning Cycles. • Use to Program the TIMES that you want the CatGenie to run • Use to Program the NUMBER of washes (one to four) per day. See Page 5. BEEPS & BLINKS HOW DO I RESTART A WASH AFTER SETTING UP PAUSE MODE? HOW CAN I MUTE THE WARNING BEEPS? PRESS & RELEASE START CYCLE/ PAUSE BUTTON. www.CatGenie.co.il Will my water bill increase by using the CatGenie? There will be no significant increase in your water bill. Running a CatGenie is equivalent to a few additional toilet flushes each day. Where does the wastewater go when it leaves the unit? Wastewater drains safely out of your home into sewer pipes. In a bathroom, the GenieHose hooks over the toilet rim; waste drains into toilet. In a laundry, waste goes into the Washer’s drainpipe. Is the SaniSolution™ cleaning solution safe for my cat? Yes, the SaniSolution cleaning solution is safe for cats. Its unique formula uses active ingredients similar to the cleaning solutions and disinfectants used by veterinarians in their operating areas. In a laundry room, could wastewater get on my clothes? No. When properly hooked into the washing machine drainpipe, wastewater can not touch laundry. The drainpipe connects directly into sewer or septic tank. NOTE: the length of the washer’s drainhose inside its waste pipe must be less than 5 inches. How long does the SaniSolution last? One SaniSolution Smart Cartridge is good for 60 cleaning cycles. CatGenie beeps and lights when 10 cycles remain and again when 3 remain. CatGenie can not operate without a Cartridge. Best to always have extra SaniSolution Cartridges on hand. In a bathroom, can the toilet be used during a Wash Cycle? Yes. The CatGenie does not interfere with toilet use. Toilet seats have feet (check yours) so DrainHose Hook can not be crushed. Will the toilet overflow with wastewater draining into it? No. The water level in toilets is set to maintain a constant, safe level. Water in a toilet automatically lowers to its preset level and will not overflow unless your toilet is clogged. Does the SaniSolution dissolve or liquefy the solids? No. The solids are turned into wastewater by the action of the Impeller, which is inside the Hopper. The SaniSolution washes and disinfects the Washable Granules and Bowl. 3. DAILY CYCLES LED Light Indicators Each LED that lights indicates the number of Cleaning Cycles programmed to start automatically every day, i.e. LED 1& 2 indicates 2 cleaning cycles. 4. IN PROCESS LED Light Indicator PRESS & RELEASE START CYCLE/ PAUSE BUTTON. What happens if my cat is in the CatGenie when it is set to start automatically? The CatGenie has sensors, GenieEyes, which delay the cleaning cycle until your cat is safely out of the unit. Can the CatGenie be stopped while it is cleaning? Yes. To stop the CatGenie, simply press the Start Cycle/Pause Button at any time during cleaning. If left in Pause Mode for more than 10 minutes, Pause will cancel and your CatGenie will automatically resume its cleaning cycle. The magic of CatGenie is that with two buttons you can start a Cleaning Cycle when you want. You can program your CatGenie to Start on its own. You can set a Child Lock. Fix an error. Pause for a problem and mute beeps. ® FAQS ABOUT CATGENIE In Process LED lights while a Cleaning Cycle is in progress. This LED blinks when CatGenie is in PAUSE mode. 5. CARTRIDGE LED Light Indicator. • When the Smart Cartridge has 10 uses left, it alerts you with repetitive Beeps and a lighted Cartridge LED • When Cartridge has 3 uses left, Beeps and Cartridge LED stay lit • When Cartridge is empty, Beeps and LED stay lit, and Unit WON”T RUN • Press START CYCLE/PAUSE to mute Beeps and then replace Cartridge If anyone removes a full Smart Cartridge, unit Beeps and Cartridge Indicator LED Blinks. See Page 7 for details. 6. ERROR LED Indicator. Error LED Blinks and unit Beeps when you have a Cleaning Cycle problem. The number of Beeps and Blinks indicates which problem. Count the beeps and check Trouble Shooting to determine the problem. See Page 10 for details. 7. CHILD LOCK LED Indicator. Child Lock LED lights and stays lit only when you have Child Lock set. See Page 6 for details. +972-9-7445012 What happens if solids stick to the GenieHand? During all three washings, the GenieHand gets scrubbed clean by the action of water, SaniSolution, and Washable Granules. If for some extraordinary reason, the GenieHand is not completely cleaned, it will be resolved during the next cleaning cycle. Can I refill the SaniSolution Smart Cartridge? No, the Cartridge cannot be refilled. The Smart Cartridge unique mechanism dispenses the exact amount of solution used for each of the 3 washes per Cleaning Cycle, as each wash requires a different quantity. The SaniSolution washes away odor-causing materials, aids in drying, and protects the CatGenie mechanism. The exclusive SaniSolution formula was tested and approved by veterinarians for cat safety. The SaniSolution Smart Cartridge replaces the use and need for cat litter. The price of SaniSolution equals the yearly cost of cat litter, yet it’s just a fraction of litter’s size and weight. Unlike clumping litter, the SaniSolution, the Smart Cartridge, and Washable Granules are environmentally safe and biodegradable. Do the Washable Granules ™ absorb? No, the unique, cat-safe Washable Granules are completely non-absorbent. Unlike traditional litter, the Washable Granules are thoroughly washed each day. Their function is to fulfill your cat’s need to dig and cover. Do the Washable Granules ever have to be replaced? No. Granules need to be replenished not replaced. However, for your cat’s comfort and optimum CatGenie operation, you will need to add Granules every so often to keep Granules filled to the level indicated inside the Bowl. Some Granules are lost by clinging to solids or from cats flinging them out of the Bowl. The Granules are non-toxic for both cats and humans and can easily pass through all digestive systems. 13 +972-9-7445012 HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RUN MY CATGENIE? POWER & OTHER PROBLEMS Problem Probable Cause Solution A. Start Cycle/Pause pressed too fast. B. No electric power, or a circuit breaker has tripped. C. Processing Unit is not correctly aligned and/or seated in its slot on the Brim. A. Press & Release Start Cycle/Pause again. B. Plug CatGenie into a different outlet and test the CatGenie outlet with another appliance. C. Remove the Processing Unit. Clean off any Granules or other material on Brim or in slot where Processing Unit sits. Put Unit back securely into slot. D. CatGenie is in Child Lock mode. E. Unit malfunction. D. Deactivate Child Lock. See Page 6. E. Call +972-9-7445012 9. The CatGenie Bowl won’t rotate or only goes in one direction . A. Black Washer underneath Bowl bottom is missing. A. Unplug the Genie Electric Cord. Go to top of page 9 and follow the Get Inside CatGenie instructions. If Black Ring is missing call. B. Call +972-9-7445012 10. Control Panel LEDs don’t light, Beeps don’t Sound and Genie Electric Cord is plugged in. A. No electric power, or a circuit breaker has tripped. B. The Processing Unit is not correctly aligned and/or seated on the Brim. A. Plug CatGenie into a different outlet and test the CatGenie outlet with another appliance. B. Remove the Processing Unit. Clean off any Granules or other material on the Brim where the Processing Unit sits. Put Unit back onto Brim. C. Unit malfunction. C. Call +972-9-7445012 A. Your hands, an object, or your cat set off the GenieEyes Bowl Sensor . B. Was not programmed correctly. A. Keep the area under the GenieEyes clear after you program the Auto Setup. B. Check that LEDs are lit to the number you want. Reprogram the Auto Setup. Details on page 5. C. See Auto Setup on page 5, Steps 1 and 2. D. Call +972-9-7445012 8. You press the Start Cycle/Pause Button and nothing happens. Unit won’t start. ® 11. You programmed Auto Setup and the Cleaning Cycle didn’t start in 30 seconds. 12. Auto Setup does not start at the times it’s supposed to. B. Bowl or Base unit is warped and CatGenie won’t sit level. C. The programming was not completed. D. Unit malfunction. A. CatGenie is unplugged. B. The Daily Cycles have not been correctly programmed. C. An electric power interruption caused CatGenie to reset to another start time. D. Unit malfunction. A. Plug in the Genie Electric Cord B. Make sure the lit Daily Cycles LEDs match the number of cleaning cycles that you want for each day. See page 4 for reprogramming directions. C. See page 5 for reset directions. After the wash cycle the dryer is blowing cold air. Unit malfunction. 14. You pressed Start/Pause Button to stop cleaning. Cycle restarted itself. After 10 minutes, Pause Mode cancels automatically and the CatGenie cleaning cycle resumes and is completed. Call +972-9-7445012 This is a normal function. The Pause feature turns the CatGenie back on in case you forget. 15. Water in Bowl. In Process LED Blinks. CatGenie is in Pause mode. Press & Release the Start Cycle/Pause Button to resume the cleaning cycle. 12 AUTO SETUP TIME EXAMPLES. If you want it to run once a day at 8:15am... program it at 8:15am 3 times a day at 6am, 2pm, 10pm... program at any of those times 4 times at 7am, 1pm, 7pm, 1am... program at any of those 4 times Have a Problem? Call +972-9-7445012 We can fix it faster +972-9-7445012 You can program your CatGenie to start automatically for one, two, three, or four times a day.A complete wash/dry cycle takes a little over 30 minutes. How does the CatGenie Auto Setup work? The Auto Setup Program is a timer, not a clock, so Cleaning Cycles run in either 24, 12, 8, or 6-hour intervals each day at the times that you set. A once a day setting runs every 24 hours at the same time each day. A twice a day setting runs every 12 hours at the same times each day. A three times setting runs every 8 hours. Four times, every 6 hours. Because the Auto Setup is a timer, you MUST program your Auto Setup at one of the times that you actually want your CatGenie to start a Cleaning Cycle. For example, if you want your CatGenie to run at 2 am and 2 pm, you must program the Auto Setup at either 2 am or 2 pm. HOW TO PROGRAM AUTO SETUP. SHORT CUTS Save You a Setup Step. • Want fewer daily washes? Press & Release Auto Setup until all LEDs go out. Then Press & Release Auto Setup until your number of Cycles lights. • Want to just change the wash time? At the new time, Press & Hold Auto Setup for 4 seconds then Release. www.CatGenie.co.il Setup is easy. When you Setup is critical. What’s critical about when I set the Auto Setup? • Want to add more daily washes? Just Press & Release the Auto Setup Button at any time until the number of cycles that you want lights. D. Clean 3-4 times per day AUTO START YOUR CATGENIE.® STEP 1. To Set Your Number of Cleaning Cycles, Press & Release the Auto Setup Button for EACH number of Cycles that you want per day. For once a day, Press & Release once. For twice a day, Press & Release twice. For three times a day, Press & Release three times, etc. DON’T HOLD the button down. A Daily Cycle LED lights for the number of times set. One LED lights for once a day. Two LEDs light for twice a day. Three LEDs light for three a day, etc. IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, Press & Release the Auto Setup Button until all LEDs go out, then repeat Step 1. WARNING: Remember to program Auto Setup at one of the times of the day that you want your CatGenie to start. Once set, the CatGenie will run at the same time(s) every day until you change the program. STEP 2. To Set Your Running Times, firmly PRESS & HOLD the Auto Setup Button for 4 seconds, then Release. CatGenie will respond with 3 Beeps while the 4 Daily Cycles LEDs flash on, off, and then go out. After you’ve programmed Auto Setup, CatGenie will start a cycle in 30 seconds. CAUTION: Keep hands, kids, and cats clear of GenieEyes Sensors during the 30-second wait time after programming. AUTO SETUP Short Cuts. If you decide to change the number of washes, use STEP 1 at anytime. If you wish to change the hour, use STEP 2. Set at a time you want it to run. If you have a power failure, the Auto Set Timer delays your Auto Start Times for as long as the power is out. You could forgo resetting if a brief black out or a quick unplugging occurs, as the Start Time will be just a few minutes later. If power is out for several hours and you want to reset, repeat STEP 2 at one of the running times. What’s the best time to run your CatGenie? Cats usually defecate within half an hour of eating a main meal. Cat experts tell us that cats sleep 15 to 20 hours a day (70% of their day). Keep a schedule of your cat’s behavior. Choose running times that won’t interfere with your cat’s routine. TIP: It is important to run your CatGenie one to two times a day per cat. Not running your CatGenie enough can cause clogs. Best to run a wash cycle soon after your cats go. Don’t let solids accumulate and harden. +972-9-7445012 ® TIPS FOR BEST CATGENIE OPERATION. BRUSHING YOUR CAT HELPS Cat fur, which gets passed in the stools, can’t be liquefied. While most fur gets flushed, too much can impede the work of the Impeller, which grinds solids into wastewater. Dried-out, hardened solids also make the impeller’s job difficult. So flush and brush often. A good brushing is healthy for your cats and your CatGenie. TO KNOCK OUT A CLOG, shake, rattle, and tap. For a draining problem caused by a clog indicated by an error, try each Step and Method until clog is gone. If you have a clog without a warning error, do not perform Step B. Press Start/Pause Button and try A, 1, and 2. Take off Pause after each method. AUTOMATIC & MANUAL STARTS. STEP A: DO THIS FIRST FOR BOTH METHODS: Remove the Drain Hook from the toilet or drain. Hold the Hook up, tap it on a wall and shake the hose. This may loosen clog and force it back into Hopper or Bowl for more processing. The combination gives you more control and more versatility. CHECK FOR HEALTH ISSUES GENIE EYES SEE CAT IN BOWL While CatGenieautomatically starts at its programmed times, you may also start it manually at any time without disrupting the Auto Setup program. Just Press & Release the Start Cycle/Pause Button when you want or need another wash. One good reason to start manually is to see if your cats are having health problems. Veterinarians recommend that on occasion cat lovers check their cats’ stools. Unlike litter boxes where waste gets covered and absorbed by litter, the CatGenie allows you this viewing option to safe guard your cat’s health. NOTE: If your cat is using the Bowl at the same time that CatGenie is set to clean, the GenieEyes Sensor will alert the CatGenie to delay the cleaning cycle. After the cat and any cats that follow leave the Bowl, the CatGenie waits 60 seconds before starting to clean. METHOD 1 METHOD 1. After doing STEP A, take the Hook and using your hand, clamp the end of the Hook tightly onto a faucet as shown. Turn on water for 5 seconds. Water pressure should push the clog back into CatGenie Bowl. Check that Genie Electric Cord is plugged. Now perform STEP B but only if you have error Beep. STEP A METHOD 2. After doing STEP A, Place Hook back in drain or toilet. Unplug the Genie Electric Cord. Remove Hopper Cover and Processing Unit from Base. Make sure Impeller turns easily by twisting the Black Knob 4 or 5 times in both directions above the Brim. Plug in Genie Electric Cord. Now perform STEP B only if you have error Beep. STEP B STEP B. DO THIS LAST FOR BOTH METHODS (if you have an error): To check if Methods 1 & 2 work, Press Start Cycle/Pause Button for exactly 4 seconds then Release. It could take awhile for the CatGenie to cycle through. When cycle completes, CatGenie is dry and fixed or it will Beep an error. Follow error directions on page 10. If nothing works, refer to page 14, STEP 2, Cleaning the CatGenie. METHOD 2 CHILD LOCK. Keeps curious Cats and Kids from accidentally starting a wash cycle. If you have young children the benefit of the Child Lock is obvious. Cats can also set off a Cycle by standing on a button. So set Child Lock for your kitties, too. To Activate the Child Lock: Press the Start Cycle/Pause Button and the Auto Setup Button at the same time and HOLD for 3 seconds then release. CatGenie Beeps and the Child Lock LED lights to confirm that you have activated the Child Lock feature. CatGenie Beeps if someone touches a button when Child Lock is active. To Deactivate the Child Lock: Press the Start Cycle/Pause and Auto Setup Buttons at the same time and HOLD until Beeps stop and Child Lock LED goes out. Then release. Child Lock is off. WASHABLE GRANULES.™ KEEP FILLED TO THIS LEVEL NEVER MIX IN OR USE CAT LITTER www.CatGenie.co.il You never need to change them. While Washable Granules never need changing, they need to be replenished. On occasion, just add Granules when the amount falls below the fill level line indented inside the Bowl. It is important to keep Granules filled to that level. Always keep an extra package of Washable Granules on hand. The exclusive formulation of Washable Granules allows them to biodegrade in sewer and septic systems in 9 months or less. WARNING: NEVER, under any circumstance, use or mix cat litter with the Washable Granules in your CatGenie. Doing so can cause severe damage to the CatGenie and will void your Warranty. +972-9-7445012 WATER & DRAINAGE PROBLEMS Problem Probable Cause 5. A puddle of CLEAN water surrounds the CatGenie. No Error is indicated. A. The T-Adapter’s little Black Lock -Nut Washer is missing. See page 8. B. Genie Water Supply Line not tightly attached to the Processing Unit. A. Check if fallen in CatGenie shipping box. Purchase at hardware store. Or call us for replacement. B. Turn off cold-water supply valve and tighten the hose connection on the Processing Unit. Turn on cold water supply valve. Plug in electric cord. C. Genie Water Supply Line not tightly attached to cold water supply valve. C. Turn off cold water supply valve. Tighten CatGenie Water Supply Line to the cold-water supply valve. Turn on cold water supply valve. D. Call +972-9-7445012 D. Genie Water Supply Line damaged. 6. A puddle of WASTEWATER surrounds the CatGenie. No Error is indicated. A. Genie DrainHook blocked by washer drainhook or not on toilet or in drainpipe. B. Genie DrainHose is not properly attached underneath the CatGenie. 7. CatGenie has water in Bowl. No Error is indicated. . A. A circuit breaker or GFCI has tripped. No electric power. B. Place GenieHook on toilet or in drainpipe. B. Follow Cleaning CatGenie directions on page 14. Then turn Base over and tighten drain hose clamp until firm. Do not over tighten. If still not working, call. C. Call +972-9-7445012 A. Check circuit breaker or GFCI outlet. Plug cord into another outlet. Test outlet with another appliance. B. Unplug electric cord.
