4About this unitThis unit is used to connect a Bluetooth enabledcellular phone to a Pioneer HDD NavigationSystem.About BluetoothBluetooth is a short-range wireless radio connectivitytechnology that is developed as a cable replacement forcellular phones, handheld PCs and other devices.Bluetooth operates in 2.4 GHz frequency range andtransmits voice and data at speeds up to 1 megabit persecond. Bluetooth was launched by a special interestgroup (SIG) that comprises of Ericsson Inc., Intel Corp.,Nokia Corp., Toshiba and IBM in 1998, and it is currentlydeveloped by nearly 2 000 companies worldwide.• The Bluetooth word mark and logos are owned by theBluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks byPioneer Corporation is under license. Other trade-marks and trade names are those of their respectiveowners.Operating environmentThis unit should be used within the temperature rangesshown below.Operating temperature range : -10 to +60 °C (14 to 140 °F)EN300328 ETC test temperature : -20 and +55 °C (-4 and 131 °F)• The line-of-sight distance between this unit and yourcellular phone must be 10 meters or less in sendingand receiving voice and data via Bluetooth technol-ogy. However, the transmission distance may becomeshorter than the estimated distance, depending onthe environment in use.• There are some Bluetooth enabled cellular phonesthat can be incompatible with this unit due to theirBluetooth version.• The performance test of this unit with all Bluetoothenabled cellular phones is not conducted. Also, it isnot guaranteed that this unit can be connected to allBluetooth enabled cellular phones.• About the Bluetooth profile and its overviewIt is required that the Bluetooth enabled cellularphone to be connected to this unit is implementedwith the same profile.HFP (Hands Free Profile): the profile used for hands-free callingOPP (Object Push Profile): the profile used for trans-ferring data such as address booksInstallation notes• This unit may be installed in relatively unnoticeablepositions such as the passenger seat floor, however,before fixing the unit, check the reception conditionof the Bluetooth unit with the setup-status monitor ofnavigation system.• Referring to Operation Manual included in navigationsystem, check the connection and fine-tune thereception of this unit.• Thoroughly wipe off the surface before affixing thevelcro tape.• Do not install the unit where it may (i) obstruct thedriver’s vision, (ii) impair the performance of any ofthe vehicle’s operating systems or safety features,including air bags, hazard lamp buttons or (iii) impairthe driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle.• When disconnecting a connector, pull the connectoritself. Do not pull the lead, as you may pull it out of theconnector.• Do not install the unit in places where it may becomesubject to high temperatures or humidity, such as:* Places close to a heater outlet.* Places exposed to direct sunlight, such as on top ofthe dashboard or the rear shelf.• Places that may be splashed by rain, for exampleclose to the door.• Use supplied velcro tapes to secure the unit so that itdoesn’t move. It is extremely dangerous if cords areexposed on the floor as they may become entangledwith the brake pedal etc. Hide cords so that they donot get in the way when you are driving.• Do not disassemble or modify this unit.
