Getting StartedPolar H7 heart rate sensor is compatible withBluetooth®smart and Bluetooth®smart readydevices. A separate application may be requiredto view heart rate data on the receiving device(for example, a mobile phone). Polar H7 heartrate sensor is also compatible with Polartraining computers using 5 kHz transmissiontechnology. For more information, go towww.polar.fi/support.When using the Polar H7 for the first time, you need to pair the heart rate sensor withyour receiving device. To ensure sufficient transmission range fromyour Polar H7 heart rate sensor to the receivingdevice, keep the device in front of you. A goodplace is in a front pocket or fixed on a belt. Donot wear the receiving device on your back (forexample, in a back pocket or backpack).Using Your Heart Rate Sensor in WaterPolar H7 heart rate sensor is water resistant. The 5 kHz transmission can be used in wateractivities, but Bluetooth®wireless technologywill not work in water. Please notice that seaand pool water are very conductive, andelectrodes may short-circuit, preventing ECGsignals from being detected by the heart ratesensor.ENGLISH 3
When using a bathing suit, the bestperformance is achieved by wearing the heartrate sensor underneath it.Caring for Your Heart Rate SensorThe heart rate sensor is a high-tech instrumentthat should be handled with care. Follow thecaring instructions to ensure reliablemeasurement and to maximize the life span ofthe heart rate sensor. The following instructionswill help you fulfill guarantee obligations.Connector: Detach the connector from the strapafter every use and dry the connector with a softtowel. Clean the connector with a mild soap andwater solution when needed. Never use alcoholor any abrasive material (e.g. steel wool orcleaning chemicals).Strap: Rinse the strap under running water afterevery use and hang to dry. Clean the strapgently with a mild soap and water solution whenneeded. Do not use moisturizing soaps, becausethey can leave residue on the strap. Do notsoak, iron, dry clean or bleach the strap. Do notstretch the strap or bend the electrode areassharply.4ENGLISH
Dry and store the strap and the connectorseparately to maximize the heart rate sensorbattery lifetime. Keep the heart rate sensor ina cool and dry place. Do not store the heart ratesensor wet in non-breathing material, such as asports bag, to prevent snap oxidation. Do notexpose the heart rate sensor to direct sunlightfor extended periods.Never put the strap or the connector in awashing machine or dryer!BatteriesThe battery level of your heart rate sensor isdisplayed on the receiving device. All connectors have user changeable batteries. To change the battery yourself, follow theinstructions below, and see the markings on theconnector and picture C on the front cover ofthis user manual.1.
