§ When used in the Auto Answer mode, theS0 register must be set with a valuebetween 2 and 10. This ensures:- A person calling your modem will heara short burst of ringing before themodem answers. This confirms that thecall has been successfully switchedthrough the network.- Caller identification information (whichoccurs between the first and secondring cadances) is not destroyed.§ This equipment does not fully meetTelecom’s impedance r equirements.Performance limitations may occur whenused in conjunction with some parts of thenetwork. Telecom will accept noresponsibility should difficulties arise insuch circumstances.§ It is recommended that this equipment bedisconnected from the Telecom line duringelectrical storms.§ When relocating the equipment, alwaysdisconnect the Telecom line connectionbefore the power connection, andreconnect the power first. Before installing the equipment, users shouldensure that it is permissible to be connected to thefacilities of the local telecommunication company.The equipment must also be installed using anacceptable method of connection. In some cases,the company inside wiring associated with a singleline individual service may be extended by meansof a certified connector assembly (telephoneextension cord). The customer should be awarethat compliance with the above conditions maynot prevent degradation of service in somesituations. Repair to certified equipment should bemade by an authorized Canadian maintenancefacility designated by the supplier. Any repairs oralterations made by the user to this equipment, orequipment malfunctions, may give the telecommu-nications company cause to request the user todisconnect the equipment. Users should ensure fortheir own protection that the electrical groundconnections to the power utility, telephone lines,and internal metallic water pipe systems, ifpresent, are connected together.
