PACKAGE CONTENTS • ZoneFlex 7025 Wi-Fi Wall Switch (Access Point) • Mounting bracket with two (2) mounting screws • Warranty statement • Software license agreement • Declaration of Conformity • Registration card • This Quick Setup Guide Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the PoE In LAN 5/Uplink port on the rear of the AP, and connect the other end to a PoE switch or the Data Out/Power Out port on the PoE injector. On your Windows computer, open the Network Connections (or Network and Dial-up Connections) control panel according to how the Start menu is set up: Using another Ethernet cable, connect one end to your computer’s network port, and connect the other end to another port on the PoE switch or to the Data In/Network port on the PoE injector. Provide power to the PoE injector/switch. Verify that the Power and LAN 5 LEDs are steady green. Win XP: Start > Settings > Network Connections Win 7: Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings STEP 3: LOG INTO THE AP US version STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR COMPUTER http://support.ruckuswireless.com/documents. • Remove the AP from its packaging and place it near your computer. FOR AP SETUP When the Network Connections window appears, rightclick the icon for Local Area Connection, and then select Properties. IMPORTANT! As specified earlier, the AP should be directly connected to your computer (through one of the LAN ports), and should be receiving power from its PoE uplink port. On your computer, open a Web browser window. In the browser, type this URL to connect to the AP: Make sure you do not open the Properties dialog box for the wireless network. When the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the scrolling list, and then click Properties. https://192.168.0.1 Pressto initiate the connection. SETUP REQUIREMENTS • A 6mm Phillips screwdriver • A computer running Windows XP, Vista or 7. • A standard US or EU-style wall outlet box, with an Ethernet cable run through the wall from your LAN to the outlet box. • One of the following: • • An IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant PoE switch. An IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant PoE injector. IMPORTANT! Write down all of the currently active settings so you can restore your computer to its original configuration later (when this process is complete). IF YOUR COMPUTER CANNOT CONNECT TO THE AP • Disconnect the AP from the power source, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect it—and wait 60 seconds before attempting a reconnection. • Disconnect and reconnect the AP and the computer. • Replace the Ethernet cable with a new one if the relevant LAN port LED is not illuminated. (LEDs in each port light up during a successful connection.) THE On the Web interface menu, click Configuration > Wireless. The Configure::Wireless::Common options appear. Verify that the following options are active: • • Channel: SmartSelect Country Code: If you are not located in the United States, select your current country. Click Update Settings if you made any changes. Click any of the eight “Wireless #” tabs. In Wireless Availability, click Enabled. Delete the text in the SSID field, and then type the name of your network. If your network does not have a “name,” type a short name that will help your users identify the AP in their wireless network connection application. Click Update Settings to save your changes. Repeat Step 4-7 for each Wireless # interface that you want to enable. Rear view STEP 5: RESTORE YOUR COMPUTER’S NETWORK SETTINGS (If Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings.) When the Network Connections window appears, rightclick the icon for the “Local Area Connection” and choose Properties. When the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the scrolling list, and click Properties. The TCP/IP Properties dialog box appears. Replace the recent AP connection entries with the entries from your original network configuration. Click OK to save your settings and exit first the TCP/IP Properties dialog box, then the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box. Your computer is now ready for normal network use. STEP 6: MOUNT THE AP TO THE WALL Ethernet cable supplying PoE power and LAN connectivity running to the outlet box where the AP will be installed. Remove the outlet box cover from the outlet box. Align the mounting bracket with the outlet box so that the two screw holes line up, and pull the Ethernet cable through the center of the mounting bracket. Affix the mounting bracket to the outlet box using the two mounting screws provided. D. Click Update Settings to save your changes. Verify that the Power and LAN 5 LEDs are lit. Bundle or coil any excess wiring so that it does not protrude or impede AP placement. Snap the AP onto the mounting bracket by hooking the two locking tabs on one side of the mounting bracket into the two cutouts in the plastic housing on one side of the AP, then push the other side of the AP in toward the wall until it snaps in place. Click Start > Settings > Network Connections. BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Ensure that you have a Cat5e or better OPTIONAL: IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH FROM DHCP (DEFAULT) A. On the menu, click Configuration > Internet. B. Click the Static IP option. C. WIRELESS SETTINGS Click Logout to exit the Ruckus Web Admin interface. 10 When the Web Admin login page reappears, you can exit your browser. STEP 4: CUSTOMIZE Connect the uplink Ethernet cable to the PoE In LAN 5 / Uplink port on the rear of the AP.
