SelectWhen Select is activated, the pager will only accept callsaddressed to it. When paged an alert tone will be emitted,the red lamp will blink, and a voice message will follow.1. Turn the pager on by moving the Slide Switch to the“N” position.2. Press and hold the  RESET/M” button (for noise) andthen press the up/down   ” buttons to set the volumeto desired level.3. After setting the volume, release the  RESET/M” buttonto set the pager to Select mode.4.Press the   RESET/M”  button to  reset  the pager toSelect mode after a call has been received.MonitorWhen  Monitor  is  activated,  the  pager  will  monitor  allcommunication (as a   Carrier Squelch Receiver”) on theselected channel as well as receiving pages.When paged an alert tone will be emitted, the red lampwill blink, and a voice message will follow.1. Press and hold the Slide Switch in  N” position until ashort beep is emitted to set the pager to Monitor mode.Congratulations!Your pager sets a new standard in Tone & Voice Paging.It  is  a  highly  reliable  and  very  compact  synthesizedreceiver, equipped with a built-in speaker and cellulartype telescoping antenna and is shipped with a  AA” sizeNiCd battery and a single unit desktop charger.All in all it is infused with the quality and attention to detailwhich are the hallmarks of SCA.Battery InstallationSceptar can be operated with a single  AA” size battery,which can be either a dry type (Alkaline) or a rechargeable700 mAh NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) battery.1. Ensure the Slide Switch is in the  OFF” position.2. Move the Locking Slide toward the center of the batterycover,  as  shown  in  illustration.  Then  slide  the  covertoward the bottom of the pager to remove it. Insert thenegative (-) end of the battery into the pager first, thenpress the positive (+) end down. The battery compartmentis marked with negative (-) and positive (+) positions.3. Replace the battery cover and reset the Locking Slide.Single Unit Desktop ChargerUse only the specified NiCd battery type. The chargerwill charge one battery,  installed in the pager, as well asa spare battery.  Pages can be received during charging,so long as the pager is in  Select” or  Monitor” mode.3. The  RESET/M” button should not be pressed whilereceiving a message or alert tone. Should this occur,press and hold the slide switch inward until a short beepis emitted to listen to the remainder of the message.MuteWhen Mute is activated, the pager will only accept callsaddressed to it. When paged the red lamp will blink butno alert tone will be emitted and the voice message willnot be heard.1. Perform steps 1-3 under Select.2. Move the Slide Switch to the  M” position.3. Move the Slide Switch to the  N” position to listen to amessage after the red lamp blinks.4. 2-Channel Operation (Software Option)This function allows a second channel to be used. TheChannel Select Switch is located on the bottom of thepager. All standard and optional features are availableon both channels.Priority Scan (Software Option)This feature provides a priority type scan function. Thesetting (1 or 2) of the Channel Select Switch indicatesthe priority channel. The scan function operates in eitherMonitor mode for monitor scanning or Select mode forsilent scanning. The priority sampling rate is set duringprogramming.Note : Same Frequency Scan can not be achieved in theMonitor mode. If Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 are programmed withthe same frequencies, then the pager must be operatedin the Select mode to continue to scan.Automatic Reset (Software Option)This function automatically resets the pager to Selectmode. The reset function can be set during programmingto activate after a specified period of time or at the end ofthe voice message.Low Battery Alarm (Software Option)This function emits a constant alert tone when the batteryvoltage has dropped to a level insufficient for reliableoperation. The NiCd battery should be recharged or anew Alkaline battery should be inserted.Vibrate Alert In Vibrate Alert mode, the pager vibrates when a call isreceived,  instead  of  emitting  an  alert  tone  and  voicemessage. Operation is same as for  Mute”.Voice Storage (Hardware Option)This option stores up to 20 seconds of the last messagereceived.ACTIVATION: Move the Slide Switch to the  M” position.RECORD: Recording is activated when an alert page isreceived. A recorded message is stored until the nextalert page or the pager is turned off.PLAYBACK: Press the Slide Switch inward to playbackthe stored message.SAVE: Move the Slide Switch to the  N” position to savethe current message. This also stops the voice recordingaction.REPLAY: Move the Slide Switch to the  M” position andpress it momentarily to replay the saved message.Vibrate Alert and Voice Storage CombinedThese combined options will operate in the same wayas  those  outlined  in  respective  instructions. The  onlyexception is the Vibrator run time, it will be the same asthe programmed Voice Storage record time.Fixed Alert (Hardware Option)This function sets the alert tone volume at the maximumlevel, regardless of the audio volume ( ”) setting.Earphone Connect the earphone to the jack located on the top ofthe pager. The internal speaker will be disconnected.Clip Removal1. Using a screwdriver,  press down on the stopper clawon the rear cover,  as shown in illustration, and rotate theclip counterclockwise to unlock.2. Rotate the clip and lift up and out.3.
