Read this user’s manual and keep it for a future reference. Using the phone while driving a car may cause traffic accident and may give an influence to the electronic parts in the car. If you are to use the phone while driving, make sure to use a safety device such as an ear-microphone. Make sure to turn off the phone while you are in an airplane or at the hospital. Using the phone in the restricted area may cause an accident of the transportation or may cause an accident of the medical devices. (Pease follow the instructions of the place on use of cellular phones.) Using a cell phone where inflammable gas such as profane or gasoline erupts may cause explosion or fire. Make sure to turn off the phone at the gas station or in areas where It may cause fire or explosion. Using the phone with cardiac pacemakers at the same time Be aware of the potential interference with your phone and pacemaker. If you have any reason to suspect that interference if taking place, switch off your phone immediately. Please keep the phone more than 15cm (6inches) from a pacemaker when the phone is switched on. Do not carry the phone in a breast pocket. Using the phone with hearing aids at the same time Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. If that interference happens, contact your hearing aid manufacturer to discuss alternatives. Using the phone with other medical devices at the same time If you use any other medical devices consult the manufacturer of your device to determine if it is adequately from external RF energy. ? Be careful of safety accident. Avoid shock. Impact on the phone may cause excessive heat or fire. Be careful when using the phone in the rain. Be careful not to have the phone wet in the rain, and do not use the phone when lightening flashes. Avoid metal products. If a conductible material (aluminum foil, needle, necklace, metal chain, coin, key and etc.) meets the bottom of the battery, the bottom of the phone or the metal part of the charger, the phone may generate excessive heat, fire, electric shock or explosion. If you have a hand strap or a neck strap attached to the phone~ You may get injured if the trap is pulled or caught by something. Be careful not to run against something or tumble down with the phone inside the pocket. Long time calling may increase the surface temperature of the cell phone. Using the phone beside high-voltage electric pole may cause electric shock or an explosion of the battery. ? How to use the phone much longer~ Keep the rubber caps plugged Keep the rubber caps plugged to protect the phone against foreign substance except when you need to remove the caps for intended purpose . Do not disassemble or remodel the phone at your own discreet. Please contact the authorized service center for repair. Keep the phone away from a magnet. Carrying or storing the phone with any magnetic material may cause malfunction. You may suffer loss of money if you lose information on the magnetic cards (credit cards, bank cards, transportation cards). 11 The phone is sensitive to radio wave. The pho ne performance may be deteriorated if you use an unauthorized antenna or accessory, or if you place the phone on any material that may interrupt radio wave (steel desk, computer, microwave range and etc.). Do not put the phone or the battery in a microwave range. It may explode. Keep the phone clean. The battery may not be recharged if the metal part on the charger or the battery is stained. Wipe out the foreign substance with soft cloth or towel, and never use a chemical solution. Be careful not to d rop the phone. Do not move violently or run with the phone hung on your neck with ear microphone or neck strap. Do not sit on with the phone put in the rear pocket. The phone may be broken or deformed. ? Avoid water, fire or moisture. Avoid water!! If the phone, battery, charger or other optional accessory is wet, the label inside the product changes color, and electric shock, damage or heat may be resulted in. If the phone is wet, leave the power off, remove the battery, and contact the nearest service center. Watch out of fire !! The phone and the battery may explode in the fire. Avoid excessive heat, cold weather, or where temperature changes severely. The phone and the battery left in severe heat, under direct sunray, or inside the car in summer time may result in explosion or fire. Performance and durability of the phone can be deteriorated if it is stored in low temperature. Do not place the phone in front of the air conditioner since high humidity and sudden temperature change may result in corrosion and damage. ? Keep away from children or pets. Keep the phone dry. Foreign substance or water in the phone, battery, charger or other optional accessories may result in mechanical trouble or injury of children. 12 Keep the phone out of reach of the children. Make sure that the children should not swallow the parts including rubber caps (in stereo ear microphone and bottom contact of the phone). Teach the children how to use the phone, and check if they are using the phone properly. ? Use the antenna properly. How to use the antenna. For clearer sound quality, do not hold or touch the antenna during the calls. Also, waving or twirling the antenna may damage the antenna. When the antenna is damaged while in use, there is the risk of electric shock or injuries. In this case, change the antenna immediately. Only the antennas approved by our company can be used. Use of other antennas may cause malfunctions. ? Use the battery properly. Make sure to use the genuine battery. Using unauthorized battery may result in damage or explosion of the phone and the battery. Do not give impact to the battery. Avoid excessive impact by dropping or throwing the battery. Disassembling or repairing the battery by unauthorized person may result in fire or explosion. Do not apply excessive force or give damage with a sharp tool. Applying excessive force or boring battery with an awl or a pin may result in fire or explosion. If the battery leaks~, Wash your skin with running water. If the solution runs into an eye, wash the eye with clean water and see the doctor immediately. It cause your eyesight fall. When not in use for a long time ~, If the phone is left unused with the battery installed, although the power is off, the battery may leak and disable the phone. If you don’t use the phone for a long time, take the battery apart from the phone. If you use the phone again (and when you first use the phone after purch asing), charge the battery fully. Turn the power off first. If you remove the battery while the phone is on, the phone or the LCD screen may be damaged. 13 Replace the battery. Purchase a new battery if running time reduces by half. Because the battery is a consumable part, repeated charging/discharging results in reduction of running time. Make sure the battery contains the recyclable metal, to be disposed in the designated place. Check the contact points before charging the battery. If the battery is mounted on the charger with incorrect polarity, the battery can be damaged or exploded. Charge the battery where it is well ventilated. Covering the charger and the battery with cloth may result in fire Pay attention to the power cord. Do not pull the power cord of the charger, and do not place a heavy object on the power cord. Damaged power cord may cause fire. Do not plug in the power with a wet hand to prevent shock. ? Using and storing the charger Do not use the phone while charging the battery. Using the phone while charging the battery may result in electric shock. Make sure to remove the phone form the charger. If you switch on the phone in 5 seconds after power off, the power key can be disabled. Wait for 5 seconds before switching on the phone. Using and storing the accessories. Use only SK-produced and approved accessories. Using inappropriate accessories may cause an explosion or damage on the phone. In no case will SK be liable for the problems followed by the use of inappropriate accessories. Disposal for used batteries. This battery is not subject to be recycled. How to use stereo ear-microphone 1. Open the rubber cap of the stereo ear-microphone jack on the side of the phone, and plug in the earmicrophone. 2. Put the ear piece into your ear. Then the microphone automatically comes close to your mouth . 3. You can listen to or talk with the ear-m icrophone instead of the speaker and microphone on the phone. 4. Press and hold the button on the ear-microphone. You can use the button to receive a call when a call is receiving, or to make a call at the stand-by mode, or to end the call if you are on the line . 18 ? Data cable (IMCBL-901C) This kit provides connection between PC and phone, enabling you to easily utilize the phone function. Remove the stereo ear microphone jack rubber cap on the side of the phone, and plug in the stereo ear microphone. Make sure to plug in tight to prevent malfunction. * IMCBL-901C is a 12Mbps cable used for data communication between E1EP and the PC. * IMCBL-901C supports the USB and 24-pin connector based mobile phone only. Connecting data manager cable * Make sure to install the battery on the phone before using the data cable. * Since IMCBL-901C does not support recharging the battery, the battery installed on the phone must have been charged. There is a rubber cap on the connecting port. * You can download data manager program from the website of SK. * See Help in the data manager program for details of how to use data cable. 19 Icons (Icons not settled) 1. You can use the linked menus if Menu is displayed on the bottom of the screen. 2. If you press [Menu], the functions that you can use are displayed on the menu. 3. Menus are varied depending on where you have pressed e.g. : Selecting linked menu of Calling List. (Down), (Right) How to Activate and Select Menu Ex) Enter a phonebook: James, Friend, Home Number 123 -4567, and Memo. 1. Press [P-Book] and (4)[New Entry]. 2. Pre ss (OK)[Sel]. 3. Enter Name, and press (OK)[Done]. - Press (OK)[Done] to automatically move to the next item. 4. Press (OK)[Sel] and (Up/down). - After moving to the required group, press (OK)[Sel]. 6. Press (OK)[Sel] and (Up/down). - The cursor is moved a utomatically to the next item. - After moving to the required icon, press (OK)[Sel]. 7. Press (OK)[Sel], enter the number and press (OK). - The cursor is moved automatically to the next item. 8. Move to the Add Data box by moving (Up/Down). 9. Press (OK)[Sel]. - After moving to the required icon, press (OK)[Sel]. 10. After selecting (3)[Memo], enter the memo and press (OK)[Done]. 11. Press (SMS)[Save]. 24 n How to Use the Battery Inserting the Battery ?Insert the bottom of the battery into the opening on the bottom of the phone. ? Push the battery down until the latch clicks. If you keep using the phone without charging the battery, the phone will be turned off with the power off message displayed on LCD. You can activate/deactivate alert. 26 n How to recharge battery Plug in the traveler charger (TC -700E) to the outlet. (100V~240V) You can connect the charger to the phone without using the desktop holder. Remove the rubber cap on the bottom of the phone before recharging the battery. * The charger may malfunction due to dirt covered on the charger. Machine by pressing and holding if a call comes in. * If a call is received, the phone Rings or vibrates for the selected time, and switches into Auto Answer mode. * The caller can record a message for 30 seconds. * Total recording time (Sum of the time distributed on Auto Answer and Recording) is 4 minutes. Press (OK)[Play] to play the message. - If you press (WWW)[Menu] and then select (3)[Cont. play], recorded messages are played in order. Press (WWW)[Mod] to modify a Turbo Dial number. * Even if a Turbo Dial is deleted, the number on the phonebook is not deleted. If the da ta is deleted from the phone book, Turbo Dial is also canceled. Edit Group You can Add, Modify, Delete a Group, or Edit group data. Adding a Group You can add a new group. 38 1. Setting Secret Group -You should enter password to search a phone number in a secret group. -You can search a number in a secret group with “Speed Search ” only, and not by Name or by Number. - In order to release a secret group, select “General” as the group attribute. - If you make a call to the person in secret group, not the name is appeared on the LCD but the phone number is. -You can save up to 21 groups including [No group ]. If all 21 groups are created, you cannot add a group. Modifying a Group You can edit name or data of the existing group. 1. Press (Right) + (6)[Memory Group] 2. Highlight the group to edit by moving (Up/Down). 2 . Press(OK)[Select]. - Modify group. 3. Save the change with (SMS)[Save]. * You cannot modify group name and attribute of [No group]. Deleting a Group You can delete the existing group or the group name. 1. Press (Right) + (6)[Memory Group] 2. Highlight the group to delete by moving (Up/Down). 3 . Checking Voice Message You can check the voice message recorded in In-Box for missed call or when the phone was off. 1. Select the message type to delete by moving (Up/Down) and press (OK)[Select]. - Select delete or not with (Left),(Right). 46 Camera Before Using the Camera The camera is suitable for portraits or objects rather than scenery. 1. In order to get a good photo, the light should be distributed on the object more than on the back ground. Avoid direct fluorescent light. Take the photo with the light behind your back. 2. Hold the phone tight and the subject should not move while taking a photo. It takes time for the camera sensor to adjust exposure. 3. To get a good photo, take the photo under a bright indoor light (about 300~500Lux) or outside of a building. 4. Aim the camera to the object, and wait for a few seconds before the camera sensor is adapted to the environment. Especially in the dark, it takes 3~5 seconds. 5. Take the photo at the distance of 0.9m to get the best photo. 6. Hold the phone with both hands to prevent shaking of the camera. 7. Activate the shutter sound to minimize shaking when you press the shutter button. 8. Do not move the phone right after taking a photo. Hold the phone tight until the rename screen is displayed after you take the photo. If memory is full, you cannot save any more photos even if fewer than 500 photos are already saved. * The camera sensor me asures light at every 2 seconds, and if light changes in a large scale, the screen may blink to adjust the sensor. If a cropped photo is saved with ‘(2) Overwrite’, you should enter the password to check the photos in P -book. * Even when you delete all photos, the protected photos are not deleted. Use of the remaining TIA language is encouraged when appropriate. EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY SIGNALS Your wireless handheld portable telephone is a low power radio transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and also sends out radio frequency (RF) signals. In August, 1996, the Federal Communications Commissions (F CC) adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels for hand -held wireless phones. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standards previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies: ANSI C95.1 (1992)* NCRP Report 86 (1986) ICNIRP (1996) Those standards were based on comprehensive and periodic evaluations of the relevant scientific # American National Standards Institute; National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements; International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation P rotection literature. For example, over 120 scientists, engineers, and physicians from universities, government health agencies, and industry reviewed the available body of research to develop the ANSI Standard (C95.1). 91 The design of your phone complies w ith the FCC guidelines (and those standards). ANTENNA CARE Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could damage the phone and may violate FCC regulations. PHONE OPERATION NORMAL POSIT ION: Hold the phone as you would any other telephone with the antenna pointed up and over your shoulder. Body-Worn Operation To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines, if you wear a handset on your body, use the carrier supplied or approved ca rrying case, holster or other body-worn accessory. Do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the phonies in use. T Pull off the road and park before making or answering a call if driving conditions so require. ELECTRONIC DEVICES Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF signals. However, certain electronic equipment may not be shielded against the RF signals from your wireless phone. Pacemakers The Health Industry Manufacturers Association recommends that a minimum separation of six (6”) inches be maintained between a handheld wireless phone and a pacemaker to avoid potential interference with the pacemaker. These recommendations are consistent with the independent research by and recommendations of Wireless Technology Research. Persons with pacemakers: ? T Should ALWAYS keep the phone more than six inches from their pacemaker when the phone is turned ON; ? T Should not carry the phone in a breast pocket; ? T Should use the ear opposite the pacemaker to minimize the potential for interference . ? T If you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking place, turn your phone OFF immediately. Hearing Aids Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you may want to consult your service provider. Hearing Aid Compatibility with Mobile Phones When some mobile phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference they generate. The wireless telephone industry has developed ratings for some of their mobile phones, to assist hearing device users in finding phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their 93 box or a label on the box. The ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary depending on the user’s hearing device and hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs. M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings. T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usable with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Telephone Switch”) than unrated phones. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings. (Note that not all hearing devices h ave telecoils in them.) Hearing devices may also be measured for immunity to this type of interference. Your hearing device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find results for your hearing device. The more immune your hearing aid is , the less likely you are to experience interference noise from mobile phones. Other Medical Devices If you use any other personal medical device, consult the manufacturer of your device to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF energy. Your physician may be able to assist you in obtaining this information. Turn your phone OFF in health care facilities when any regulations posted in these areas instruct you to do so. Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that could b e sensitive to external RF energy. Vehicles RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic systems in motor vehicles. Check with the manufacturer or its representative regarding your vehicle. You should also consult the manu facturer of any equipment that has been added to your vehicle. Posted Facilities Turn your phone OFF in any facility where posted notices so require. 94 ? AIRCRAFT FCC regulations prohibit using your phone while in the air. Switch OFF your phone before boardin g an aircraft. BLASTING AREAS To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn your phone OFF when in a “blasting area” or in areas posted: “Turn off two -way radio”. Obey all signs and instructions. POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES Turn your phone OFF when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere and obey all signs and instructions. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, but not always marked clearly. Potential areas may include: fueling areas (such as gasoline stations); below deck on boats; fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities; vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane); areas where the air co ntains chemicals or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders); and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. For Vehicles Equipped with an Air Bag An air bag inflates with great force. DO NOT place objects, including either installed or portable wireless equipment, in the area over the air bag or in the air bag deployment area. If in -vehicle wireless equipment is improperly installed and the air bag inflates, serious injury could result. Prevent Illegal Handling of ESN It is illegal to remove or change the Electronic Serial Number ESN of the phone manufactured by SK Teletech, or to copy the other number. Anyone who commits the illegal action is the subject for imprisonment for less than 3 years or for the penalty of less than ten million won in accordance with the relative laws and regulations (Article 4 of the Radio Waves Act, Article 57 of the Electronic Communication Business Law and Article 347 of the Criminal Law. This illegal attempt may damage the software of the phone, resulting in broken phone. Users are required to be careful not to suffer damages caused by these illegal acts.
