Doing this may • cause the headset to malfunction or become combustible. 6Charging the headsetThis headset has a rechargeable internal battery which is non-removable. Ensure that you fully charge the battery before using the headset for the rst time.1  Plug the small end of the travel adapter into the charger jack. 2  Plug the large end of the travel adapter into a power outlet.During charging, the indicator light will turn red. If charging does not begin, unplug the travel adapter and plug it in again.3   When the headset is fully charged, the indicator light changes to blue. Unplug the travel adapter from the power outlet and the headset.
English7Use only a Samsung-approved travel adapter. Unauthorised travel adapters may • cause an explosion or damage to the headset. The battery will gradually wear out while charging or discharging because it is • a consumable part. When a call come in while charging, disconnect your headset from the travel • adapter and answer the call. When the battery charge gets lowThe headset beeps and the indicator light ashes red. Recharge the battery. If the headset powers off during a call, the call will be automatically transferred to the phone.Checking the battery levelAt the same time, press and hold the Volume down and the Talk button. Depending on the battery level, the indicator light ashes 5 times in one of the following colours:Battery level Indicator light colourAbove 80% Blue80 ~20%  VioletBelow 20% Red
8Wearing the headsetPlace the headset on your ear. Depending on what ear you are going to wear the headset, simply adjust the ear hook accordingly.Handle the headset properly to improve performanceDo not block the device’s internal antenna. The human body can interfere with a • Bluetooth signal. If you usually use your mobile phone with your right hand, wear the headset on • your right ear.Avoid coming in contact with the internal antenna of a headset or mobile for a • better performance.▲ Left ▲ Right
English9Using your headsetThis section explains how to turn the headset on, pair and connect to the phone, and use various functions.Activated functions and features may differ depending on the phone type.• Some devices, especially those that are not tested or approved by Bluetooth SIG, • may be incompatible with your headset.Turning the headset on or offTo turn the headset on, slide up the power switch. The blue indicator light  ashs • 4 times.To turn the headset off, slide down the power switch. The indicator light turns off • after the blue indicator light changes to red.
10Pairing and connecting the headsetPairing will create a unique and encrypted wireless link between two Bluetooth enabled devices, such as a Bluetooth phone and a Bluetooth headset.To use the headset with other Bluetooth devices, the devices must be paired. When trying to pair the two devices, keep the headset and the phone reasonably close together. After pairing, you can connect the two devices.Pairing and connecting the headset with a phone1  Enter Pairing mode.Turn on your headset and press and hold the Talk button until the blue • indicator light stays lit.If you turn on the headset for the rst time, it proceeds into Pairing mode • immediately.2  Activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone and search for the headset (see your phone’s user manual).3  Select the headset (HM1100) from the list of devices found by your phone.4  Enter the Bluetooth PIN (0000, 4 zeros) to pair and connect the headset to your phone.
English11Your headset supports the Simple Pairing feature which allows the headset to be paired with a phone without requesting a PIN. This feature is available for phones that are compliant with Bluetooth version 2.1 or higher.The headset also can be paired via the Active pairing feature, see page 13.Connecting with two Bluetooth phonesWith the Multi-point feature activated, your headset can be connected with two Bluetooth phones at the same time.1  After connecting with the rst Bluetooth phone, press and hold the Talk button until the blue indicator light stays lit.2  Press and hold the Volume up button to activate the Multi-point feature.3  Activate the Bluetooth feature on the second Bluetooth phone and search for the headset (see your phone’s user manual).4  Select the headset (HM1100) from the list of devices found by the second Bluetooth phone.5  Enter the Bluetooth PIN (0000, 4 zeros) to connect the headset to the phone.6  Reconnect to the headset from the rst Bluetooth phone.
12When the headset connects to two Bluetooth phones, some phones may not • connect to the headset as the second Bluetooth phone.Disconnecting the headsetTo disconnect the headset from your phone,Turn off the headset.• Use the Bluetooth menu on your phone.• Reconnecting the headsetYou can set the headset automatically to reconnect to the recently connected phones each time you turn it on. To reconnect to the two most recently connected phonesActivate the Multi-point feature. Press and hold the Volume up button in Pairing mode until the blue indicator light ashes twice.To reconnect to only the most recently connected phoneDeactivate the Multi-point feature. Press and hold the Volume down button in Pairing mode until the red indicator light ashes twice.If the headset does not automatically attempt to reconnect,Press the Talk button.• Use the Bluetooth menu on your phone.•
English13Pairing via the Active pairing featureWith the Active pairing feature, your headset can automatically search for a Bluetooth phone and try to make a connection with it. This feature is available for mobile phones, but the phone’s Bluetooth visibility option must be set to on.1  Turn on the headset. 2  Press and hold the Talk button to enter Pairing mode. 3  Press and hold the Talk button until the violet indicator light turns on.The headset will switch to Active Pairing mode, search a Bluetooth phone within range, and attempt to pair with it.Ensure the phone you wish to connect to is within range of the headset. Place the • headset and phone close to each other to avoid pairing with other devices.The Bluetooth phone you want to connect with must not be paired with other • devices. If the phone is already connected to another device, end the connection and restart the Active pairing feature.This feature may be unavailable depending on the some PDAs.•
14Using call functionsAvailable call functions may vary by the phone.Making a callRedialling the last numberPress the Talk button to redial the last number of the most recently connected phone. Press the Talk button twice to redial the last number of the other phone,  see page 11.For some  phones, pressing the Talk button opens the call log list. Press the Talk button again to dial the selected number. Dialling a number by voicePress and hold the Talk button and say a name. You can dial a number of the rst phone.
English15Answering a callPress the Talk button to answer a call when you hear incoming call tones.When two calls from the two connected phones come in, you can answer the call of the rst phone.Ending a callPress the Talk button to end a callRejecting a callPress and hold the Talk button to reject a call when a call comes in.When two calls from the two connected phones come in, you can reject the call of the rst phone. 16Using options during a callYou can use the following functions to control your call during a call.Adjusting the volumePress the Volume up or down button to adjust the volume.Muting the microphonePress and hold the Volume up or down button to turn the microphone off so that the person with whom you are speaking cannot hear you. When the microphone is turned off, the headset beeps at regular intervals. Press and hold the Volume up or down button again to turn the microphone back on.Transferring a call from the phone to the headsetPress the Talk button to transfer a call from the phone to the headset.Placing a call on holdPress and hold the Talkn button to place the current call on hold. This function is available only on the Hands-Free prole. For more information, see • your phone’s user manual.

18AppendixFrequently asked questionsWill my headset work with laptops, PCs, and PDAs?Your headset will work with devices that support your headset's Bluetooth version and proles. For specications, see page 23.Why do I hear static or interference while on a call?Appliances such as cordless phones and wireless networking equipment may cause interference, which usually sounds like static. To reduce any interference, keep the headset away from other devices that use or produce radio waves.Will my headset interfere with my car's electronics, radio, or computer?Your headset produces signicantly less power than a typical mobile phone. It also only emits signals that are in compliance with the international Bluetooth standard. Therefore, you should not expect any interference with standard consumer-grade electronics equipment.
English19Can other Bluetooth phone users hear my conversation?When you pair your headset to your Bluetooth phone, you are creating a private link between only these two Bluetooth devices. The wireless Bluetooth technology used in your headset is not easily monitored by third parties because Bluetooth wireless signals are signicantly lower in radio frequency power than those produced by a typical mobile phone.Why do I hear an echo while on a call?Adjust the headset volume, or move to another area and try again.How do I clean my headset?Wipe it with a soft dry cloth.The headset does not fully charge.The headset and the travel adapter may not have been connected properly.  Separate the headset from the travel adapter, reconnect, and charge the headset.
20Warranty and parts replacementSamsung warrants this product as free of defects in material, design and workmanship for the period of one year from the original date of purchase.*If during the period of warranty this product proves defective under normal use and service you should return the product to the retailer from whom it was originally purchased or qualied service center.
