Manual # A20290691 Rev 0 Information to the User This Policy and Procedure Manual is provided as a guide for purchasers and users of the Secure Care Model 135 Exit System. It is not intended as a catalog of warnings for the protection of anyone or as a substitute for obtaining professional assistance in the design of a facility's policies and procedures in connection with the use of the Secure Care System. Nothing in this Manual is intended to extend or modify the limited warranty expressly provided by Secure Care for its products, to create further warranties, or to extend benefits of any sort to anyone beyond those already expressly established by written contract with Secure Care. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation Electrostatic Discharge Care should be taken to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) on or near the transmitter case, since these types of events may damage or temporarily disable circuits and/ or components within the transmitter. Although ESD events are common, there are a few precautions that can be taken to minimize the risk. If carpeted floors, synthetic fiber clothing, and non-metal objects are used in the vicinity of transmitters, the caregivers should get in the habit of grounding themselves briefly by touching a metal surface prior to handling the transmitters. Avoid placing the transmitter in energized fields such as x-ray machines or near other electronic devices that may emit electrical or magnetic fields. The Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is designed to be placed on the infants ankle soon after birth. In the event a monitored infant is taken near an exit monitored by the Model 135 Infant ID protection system, the system should arm and or lock the door. If the monitored infant is taken through a monitored exit location by an unauthorized person, the system should sound an audible alarm indicating the exit location the infant has been taken through. If the strap of the Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is tampered with, resulting in tearing of the conductive traces within the strap, the Model 135 system should alert nursing staff of the event via an audible and visual alarm condition at the Nurse Station location. All exit locations monitored by the Model 135 system should arm and or lock. In the event the door is open at the exit location, the Model 135 Exit Panel at the exit location should alarm, alerting nursing staff of the event via an audible and visual alarm at the Nurse Station location. Manual # A20290691 Rev 0 Ordering New or Replacement Transmitters Transmitters are purchased directly from Secure Care Products, Inc. Please Call 1-800-451-7917 when ordering transmitters. Transmitters and straps will typically be shipped two weeks after receipt of your order. Transmitter Straps and cradles are sold as a single unit for a single use and are sold in packages of one dozen. Transmitters are warranted per the attached Warranty Statement. When requesting warranty replacement transmitters, you should call the Secure Care Products, Inc. transmitter department for instruction. Transmitters replaced under warranty are required to be returned to Secure Care Products, Inc., postage paid, within two weeks. Manual # A20290691 Rev 0 Infant ID Cut-Band Transmitter Part # A20290919 Description: The infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is an active radio frequency (RF) transmitter transmitting a unique ID code to help distinguish individual wearing the transmitter. The Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter transmits RF signals at 13.56 MHz when in the standard operating mode. In the event the strap is tampered with the transmitter should begin transmitting a 418 MHz emergency signal. The Infant ID CutBand transmitter can be placed into a "SLEEP" mode by authorized staff members when the infant is ready to be discharged from the facility and removal of the transmitter is required. Obtain an Infant ID with Cut-Band transmitter (Part #A20290919) and an Infant ID cutBand Strap (Part # C42000913) Attach the Strap (with base) to the Transmitter. Be sure to attach the base in the proper orientation. Test the transmitter using the transmitter tester. (See transmitter testing instructions for details) The transmitter should be tested on a daily basis while in use. (see testing documents attached.) Route the strap around the infants' ankle. Pass the strap through the clasp mechanism on the side of the transmitter. Pull any excess strap through the clasp mechanism. Be sure to leave enough excess strap to allow for swelling that may occur while not leaving too much to prevent the transmitter from being slipped off the infants ankle. Do not cut excess strap. Simply fasten the excess strap to the front of the transmitter using tape. Once the transmitter has been placed on the infants ankle, the transmitter ID number engraved on the transmitter should be recorded in the infants chart and programmed into the ID Nurse Station. (See programming instructions in the this manual) insert pictures here for transmitter assembly and application Manual # A20290691 Rev 0 Programming ID Nurse Station Transmitter Information Enter Transmitter ID # *=OK ID#_ _ _ _ Once the transmitter ID has been entered into the keypad press "*" the display should change to this. Enter room # *=ok Room # _ _ _ _ Now enter the residents room # and press "*" when you are finished. The display should now read. 1=up 2=dn #=bk *=OK Name:_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Enter the residents name Press "*"when the letter is correct and use "*"" to enter a space between first and last name. When complete press "*" to change the display to: *=done 1=more data entry Selection: _ Transmitter ID # The transmitter ID # is the last four digits of the transmitter serial #. In this example the transmitter ID # is 1234 If you have more resident data to enter press "1" and return to the beginning. When you are finished entering all resident data press "*". Expiration xx-xx-xx MM-DD-YY PART # 13.56 MHz ID 1234 Press "1" on the keypad. This next screen will prompt you to enter the transmitter ID # first. The transmitter ID # is the last four digits of the serial # of the transmitter. The ID System was designed to assist your facility nursing staff with the difficult task of managing your Residents, Infants, and Assets. This system was designed to identify the transmitter, who or what the transmitter is assigned to and what door the transmitter is near. In order for the ID System to provide this valuable information, the nurse station must first be programmed with all this information. The following is a step by step procedure designed to assist while programming the ID Nurse Station. This ID Nurse Station display should read the following. ID System Active Inactive:0 Version: 1.33 Now Enter *567 holding the 7 until the display change to this. 1=Transmitters 2=Panels *=More 9=Quit >> We will begin by entering all the transmitter data first. Transmitter ID #, Room # then transmitter description. Press "1" on the keypad. The display should now read. 1=Add\Modify 2=Delete 3=Show All 9=Back >> Ankle transmitter Manual # A20290691 Rev 0 Removing the transmitter from the Infant Prior to removing the transmitter from the infant's ankle the transmitter must be placed into the "Sleep" mode. Failure to place the transmitter into the "Sleep" mode prior to removing the transmitter from the infant ankle should result in a Cut-band alarm. To Place the transmitter into the "Sleep" mode. Press the "On" button on the transmitter tester. Place the transmitter near the transmitter tester as shown in the picture.(see picture below.) Enter *23456 (security code) on the keypad on the transmitter tester. Wait for the tester to display "Enable" within 2 seconds Press #10001 with the transmitter within 2 inches Tester will responds with either "SLEEP OK" or "SLP FAIL" after 10 seconds. With "Sleep OK" the band should be cut and the Transmitter will discontinue transmission. IF "SLP FAIL" appears the procedure should be repeated. Once the transmitter has been placed into the "Sleep" mode, cut the band and remove the cradle and remaining strap material from the back of the transmitter. Discard the used strap and cradle. Clean the transmitter with a mild disinfectant solution. Do not use alcohol or petroleum based cleaner. Do Not immerse the transmitter in any type of solution with the strap and cradle assembly removed from the transmitter. (the transmitter is not water or moisture resistant when the strap and cradle are removed.) Note: When performing transmitter testing or placing a transmitter into Sleep Mode, the transmitter must be placed near the testing in the orientation shown in the picture and the transmitter must be no more than 3 inches for testing and no more than 2 inches for programming Cleaning/Disinfecting the Transmitter The transmitter should be cleaned and disinfected prior to use and between uses. The transmitter should be cleaned with a mild disinfectant solution. Do Not Immerse the transmitter in solution with the cradle removed. It is recommended that the transmitter be wiped down with mild disinfectant. If the transmitter requires immersion into solution then a new cradle should be applied to the transmitter prior to immersion. Do Not use an autoclave or other type of high temperature device to disinfect the transmitter. What This Warranty Covers: Subject to the limitations set forth below, Secure Care Products, Inc. warrants the conformity of its products and accessories with the product specifications as set forth in this User Manual for each such product, for the warranty periods stated in this User Manual. Secure Care Products, Inc., at its option, will either repair, replace or refund the purchase price of a non-conforming product during the warranty period, provided it is returned in accordance with the terms of this warranty. Repair, at Secure Care Products, Inc.’s option, may include the replacement of parts, accessories or boards with functionally equivalent reconditioned or new parts, accessories or boards. Replaced products, parts, accessories or boards are warranted for the balance of the original warranty period. Any replaced products and accessories, shall become the property of Secure Care Products, Inc. What This Warranty Does Not Cover: (a) Defects, damage or injury resulting from use of the product(s) in other than accordance with this User Manual and the product(s)’s labeling; (b) Defects, damage or injury from misuse, accident, neglect or when the product(s) are used in conjunction with ancillary or peripheral sensing equipment not manufactured or supplied by Secure Care Products, Inc.; (c) Defects, damage or injury from improper or unauthorized testing, operation, maintenance, installation, adjustment, or any alteration or modification of any kind; (d) Products disassembled or repaired by anyone other than Secure Care Products, Inc. or its authorized representative and any defects, damage or injury caused by such products; (e) Defects, damage or injury due to spills of or exposure to food, water or other liquid or other substance, except for normal non-caustic cleaning agents used to clean the product; (f) Defects, damage or injury resulting from cords that are stretched or have the modular tab broken; (g) Defects, damage or injury as a result of the use of the product for longer or more often than specified in this User Manual; or (h) All externally exposed parts that are scratched or damaged. 3. How To Get Warranty Service: Warranty service is available by contacting Secure Care Products, Inc. service department at 800-451-7917 and obtaining an Return Authorization Number. The customer then ships the product to Secure Care Products, Inc., authorized service center, shipping prepaid, along with a copy of the original invoice, Return Authorization Number and description of the problem. 4. No Other Warranty or Remedy This is the complete warranty for the products by Secure Care Products, Inc. Secure Care Products, Inc. assumes no obligation or liability for additions or modifications to this warranty unless made in writing and signed by the President of Secure Care Products, Inc.
