Component Description(8) Battery light ●Amber: A battery is charging.●Green: A battery is close to full charge capacity.●Blinking amber: A battery that is the only available powersource has reached a low battery level. When the batteryreaches a critical battery level, the battery light begins blinkingrapidly.●Off: If the computer is plugged into an external power source,the light turns off when all batteries in the computer are fullycharged. If the computer is not plugged into an external powersource, the light stays off until the battery reaches a lowbattery level.(9) Drive light ●Blinking green: The hard drive or optical drive is beingaccessed.●Amber: HP 3D DriveGuard has temporarily parked the internalhard drive.*The 2 power lights display the same information. The light on the power button is visible only when the computer is open. Buttons, switches, and fingerprint readerNOTE: Refer to the illustration that most closely matches your computer.Component Description(1) Power button ●When the computer is off, press the button to turn on thecomputer.●When the computer is on, press the button to shut down thecomputer.●When the computer is in the Sleep state, press the buttonbriefly to exit Sleep.●When the computer is in Hibernation, press the button brieflyto exit Hibernation.If the computer has stopped responding and Windows® shutdownprocedures are ineffective, press and hold the power button for atleast 5 seconds to turn off the computer.To learn more about your power settings, select Start > ControlPanel > System and Maintenance > Power Options.(2) Internal display switch Turns off the display if the display is closed while the power is on.(3) Info button Launches Info Center, which enables you to open various softwaresolutions.(4) Wireless button Turns the wireless feature on or off, but does not establish awireless connection.NOTE: A wireless network must be set up in order toestablish a wireless connection.(5) Presentation button Starts the presentation feature.(6) Volume mute button Mutes and restores speaker sound.ENWW Top components 7
Component Description(7) Volume scroll zone Adjusts speaker volume. Slide your finger to the left to decreasevolume and to the right to increase volume. Left-side componentsComponent Description(1) PC Card slot Supports optional Type I or Type II 32–bit (CardBus) or 16–bit PCCards.(2) PC Card eject button Ejects a PC Card from the PC Card slot.(3) Power connector Connects an AC adapter.(4) Vent Enables airflow to cool internal components.CAUTION: To prevent overheating, do not obstructvents. Use the computer only on a hard, flat surface. Donot allow another hard surface, such as an adjoiningoptional printer, or a soft surface, such as pillows or thickrugs or clothing, to block airflow.NOTE: The computer fan starts up automatically to coolinternal components and prevent overheating. 3 LabelsThe labels affixed to the computer provide information you may need when you troubleshoot systemproblems or travel internationally with the computer.●Service tag—Provides the product brand and series name, serial number (s/n), and productnumber (p/n) of your computer. Have this information available when you contact technical support.The service tag label is affixed to the bottom of the computer.●Microsoft® Certificate of Authenticity (select models only)—Contains the Windows® Product Key.You may need the Product Key to update or troubleshoot the operating system. This certificate isaffixed to the bottom of the computer.●Regulatory label—Provides regulatory information about the computer. The regulatory label isaffixed to the bottom of the computer.●Modem approval label—Provides regulatory information about the modem and lists the agencyapproval markings required by some of the countries in which the modem has been approved foruse. You may need this information when traveling internationally. The modem approval label isaffixed inside the memory module compartment.●Wireless certification label(s) (select models only)—Provide information about optional wirelessdevices and the approval markings of some of the countries in which the devices have beenapproved for use. An optional device may be a wireless local area network (WLAN) device, an HPBroadband Wireless Module, or an optional Bluetooth® device. If your computer model includesone or more wireless devices, one or more certification labels are included with your computer.You may need this information when traveling internationally. Wireless certification labels areaffixed inside the memory module compartment.●SIM (subscriber identity module) label (select models only)—Provides the ICCID (Integrated CircuitCard Identifier) of your SIM. This label is located inside the battery bay.●HP Broadband Wireless Module serial number label (select models only)—Provides the serialnumber of your HP Broadband Wireless Module.
