This may interfere withcommunication.•If Wireless LAN and Bluetooth functions are used at the same time on the samecomputer, communication speed may be reduced due to electromagnetic interference,and other unwanted effects may occur.•If a power-saving mode is enabled on one of the computers, Bluetooth communicationmay not be possible. Set both computers to normal mode.1Turn on the computer and insert the Bluetooth USB adapterinto the USB port (page 14).2Click the “Start” button, and select “All Programs” –“BlueSpace NE” – “BlueSpace NE”.BlueSpace NE launches and its main window appears.z HintWhen the “Welcome to BlueSpace NE” window appears, click “OK”.With the factory default settings, the next time Windows starts, appearsautomatically in the notification area. In this case, you can launch BlueSpace NE bydouble-clicking .3Click the (Device Discovery) button in the main window.The computer with the Bluetooth USB adapter begins searching forother Bluetooth technology enabled devices in the vicinity. 17 GBContinued on next page4In the device list, select the device you want to connect with,and click the (Service Discovery) button.NoteIf authentication between devices has not been completed, a window may appearprompting you to confirm whether you want to perform only service discovery, orboth discovery and authentication. Follow the on-screen instructions to exchangepasskeys and complete the authentication. If the authentication window does notappear, right-click on the device to connect with, and click “Authentication”.The computer searches for services on the selected device, and whenfinished, displays icons for the available services (those supported byboth the device and BlueSpace NE).z What is a passkey?A passkey is a secret code entered by the user to enable two Bluetoothdevices to communicate. When the same alphanumeric string isentered at both devices, communication becomes possible. Thepasskey may be changed for every communication session. Once avalid link has been established, communication is possible without youhaving to reenter the passkey for a preset period of time.5Select and connect to the service required.Click

In this case, mutual authentication is required to enableBluetooth communications with this device.To authenticate, click in the notification area. For operating details, refer to the manualprovided with the Bluetooth cell phone and the Windows XP Wireless LinkHelp.Setting up a Bluetooth cell phone or modem1Turn on the Bluetooth cell phone or modem and set it toallow discovery.For details, see the manual provided with the cell phone.2Turn on the computer and insert the Bluetooth USB adapterinto the USB port (page 14).3Click the “Start” button and select “Control Panel”.The Control Panel appears.4Click the “Printers and Other Hardware” icon.5Click “Wireless Link”, and click the “Bluetooth” tab.6Click “Add”, and then “Next” in the “Bluetooth ConnectionWizard” window.Device discovery starts, and the Bluetooth cell phone is detected.

26 GBNotes on UseProtect the unit fromshockTo prevent the possibility of damage,take care not to drop the unit orotherwise subject it to strong shocks.Usage and storagelocationsDo not use or store this unit inlocations subject to high humidity,high temperatures, strong vibrations,direct sunlight, or high levels of dust.Operation•Do not place any objects on top ofthe unit.•Protect the unit from suddentemperature changes. Do not use theunit immediately after moving itfrom a cold to a warm location orafter the ambient temperature hasrisen drastically. Otherwisecondensation inside the unit canoccur. If the temperature haschanged significantly duringoperation, turn off the power of theunit and let it stand for about anhour.TransportRetain the packing material of the unitand reuse it when transporting the unitagain.Notes on discsOn handling discs•To keep the disc clean, handle onlyby the edges. Do not touch thesurface.•Do not write on or stick paper ortape to the surface of the disc.•Do not use a disc with tape, seals, orpaste on it. Such a disc may damagethe disc drive.On safekeeping•Do not expose the disc to directsunlight or heat sources such as hotair ducts, or leave it in a car parkedin direct sunlight.•After playing, store the disc in itscase. Stocking discs without casesor leaving the disc exposed, maycause damage to the disc.On cleaning•Fingerprints, dust or dirt can causereading errors or reduced soundquality. Always keep the disc clean.Correct Incorrect

Wipethe disc from the center out.•To remove dirt, clean the disc with asoft cloth slightly moistened withwater, then remove the moisturewith a soft dry cloth.•Do not use solvents such as benzine,thinner, commercially availablecleaners or antistatic spray intendedfor vinyl LPs.Bluetoothcommunications•The 2.4 GHz band used byBluetooth and wireless LAN devicesis also used by various otherdevices. Bluetooth devicesincorporate technology thatminimizes interference from otherdevices using the same wavelength.However, communication speed andachievable distances may bereduced.
