A very small percentage of individuals may experience epileptic
seizures or blackouts when exposed to certain light patterns or flashing
lights. Exposure to certain patterns or backgrounds on a screen or when
playing video games may trigger epileptic seizures or blackouts in
these individuals. These conditions may trigger previously undetected
epileptic symptoms or seizures in persons who have no history of prior
seizures or epilepsy. If you, or anyone in your family, has an epileptic
condition or has had seizures of any kind, consult your physician before
playing.
IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE use and consult your physician
before resuming gameplay if you or your child experience any of the
following health problems or symptoms:
• dizziness,
• altered vision,
• eye or muscle twitches,
• loss of awareness,
• disorientation,
• seizures, or
• any involuntary movement or convulsion.

Use and handling of video games to reduce the
likelihood of a seizure
• Use in a well-lit area and keep the screen a safe distance from your
face.
• Avoid prolonged use of the PSP® system. Take a 15-minute break
during each hour of play.
• Avoid playing when you are tired or need sleep.
Radio waves may affect electronic equipment or medical devices (for
example, pacemakers), which may cause malfunctions and possible
injuries.
• If you use a pacemaker or other medical device, consult your
physician or the manufacturer of your medical device before using
the wireless LAN feature.
• Do not use the wireless LAN feature in the following locations:
– Areas where wireless LAN use is prohibited, such as in hospitals.
Abide by medical institution regulations when using the system on
their premises.
– Areas near fire alarms, automatic doors and other types of
automated equipment.

Authentication System), a proprietary authentication system, to help
protect copyright and security in connecting the PSP® system to a
network. DNAS may retrieve information about a user's hardware and
software for authentication, copy protection, account blocking, system,
rules, or game management and other purposes. The information
collected does not identify the user personally. The unauthorized
transfer, exhibition, export, import or transmission of programs and
devices circumventing its authentication scheme may be prohibited by
law.

Before use

Before using this product, carefully read this manual and retain it for
future reference.
This product has been designed with the highest concern for safety.
However, any electrical device, if used improperly, has the potential for
causing fire, electrical shock or personal injury. To help ensure
accident-free operation, follow these guidelines:
• Observe all warnings, precautions and instructions.
• Regularly inspect the AC adaptor and AC power cord.
• Stop use, unplug the AC power cord from the electrical outlet and
disconnect any other cables immediately if the device functions in an
abnormal manner, produces unusual sounds or smells or becomes
too hot to touch.
• Call SCEA Consumer Services at 1-800-345-7669 if the device does
not operate properly.
• Use in a well-lit area and keep the screen a safe distance from your
face.
• Avoid prolonged use of the PSP® system. To help prevent eyestrain,
take a break of about 15 minutes during every hour of play.
• If you experience any of the following health problems, discontinue
use of the system immediately. If symptoms persist, consult with
your physician.
– Dizziness, nausea, fatigue or symptoms similar to motion sickness
– Discomfort or pain in a part of the body, such as eyes, ears, hands
or arms
• Exercise care when setting the volume. If you set the volume too
high, it may harm your hearing or damage the speakers.
• Keep the system and accessories out of the reach of small children.
Small children may swallow the Memory Stick Duo™ or wrap the
cables/straps around themselves, which may inflict injury or cause
an accident or a malfunction.
• Do not use the system while driving or riding a bicycle. Looking at
the screen or operating the system while driving an automobile or
riding a bicycle may result in a traffic accident.
• Take extra care when using the system while walking.
• Be careful not to pinch your fingers when closing the disc cover.
• Do not use the system or accessories near water.
• Use only attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Do not use the headphones if they cause discomfort to your skin.
If the headphones cause discomfort to your skin, discontinue use
immediately. If symptoms do not subside even after discontinuing
use, seek medical attention.
• Do not expose the system or accessories to high temperatures, high
humidity, or direct sunlight.
• Do not leave the system or accessories in a car with the windows
closed (particularly in summer).
• Do not expose the system or accessories to dust, smoke or steam.

• Do not allow liquid or small particles to get into the system or
accessories.
• Do not place the system or accessories on surfaces that are tilted,
unstable or subject to vibration.
• Do not throw, drop or step on the system or accessories, and do not
subject the devices to strong physical shock. Sitting down with the
PSP® system in a pocket or placing the system in the bottom of a
backpack along with heavy objects may cause damage to the system.
• Do not forcibly twist the PSP® system or expose the system to strong
physical shock during gameplay, as doing so can damage the system
or cause the disc cover to open, ejecting the disc. Handle the analog
stick with care.
• Do not put heavy objects on the system or accessories.
• Do not touch or insert foreign objects into the connectors of the
system or accessories.
• Do not place the system close to items with a magnetic strip, such as
credit cards.
• Depending on the conditions of use, the system or AC adaptor may
reach temperatures of 40 °C/104 °F or more. Do not touch the system
or AC adaptor for an extended period of time under these conditions.
Extended contact under these conditions may cause low-temperature
burns*.
* Low-temperature burns are burns that occur when the skin is in contact
with objects of relatively low temperatures (40°C or more/104°F or
more) for an extended period of time.
• When connecting the system to a plasma or projection* TV, do not
leave a still image on the TV screen for an extended period of time,
as this may leave a faint image permanently on the screen.
* Except LCD screen types
• Do not touch the plug of the AC power cord with wet hands.
• Do not touch the AC power cord, AC adaptor or the system, if
connected to an electrical outlet, during an electrical storm.
• Do not use a power source other than the supplied (or approved
replacement) battery pack, AC adaptor and AC power cord.
• Unplug the AC power cord from the electrical outlet, disconnect any
other cables and remove the battery pack from the system before
cleaning or when you do not intend to use the system for an extended
period of time.
• Protect the AC power cord from being walked on or pinched
particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles and the point where
they exit from the system.
• When disconnecting the AC power cord, hold it by the plug and pull
straight out from the electrical socket. Never pull by the cord and do
not pull at an angle.
• Do not use the system to play games or video when the system is
covered with any type of fabric. If you want to pause or temporarily
store the system while playing games or video, put the system in
sleep mode before placing it in the case or covering. Also do not use
the AC adaptor when covered with fabric. This may help to avoid
overheating.
• Do not connect the AC power cord to a voltage transformer or
inverter. Connecting the AC power cord to a voltage transformer for
overseas travel or an inverter for use in an automobile may cause
heat to build up in the AC adaptor and may cause burns or a
malfunction.
• The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be
easily accessible.

• The LCD screen is made of glass and may crack if subjected to
excessive force.
• Black (dark) pixels and continuously lit pixels may appear in certain
locations on the LCD screen. The appearance of such spots is a
normal occurrence associated with LCD screens and is not a sign of
a system malfunction. LCD screens are made using highly precise
technology. However, a very small number of dark pixels or
continuously lit pixels exist on each screen. Also, a distorted image
may remain on the screen for several seconds after the system has
been turned off.
• Direct exposure to sunlight may damage the system's LCD screen.
Be careful when using the system outdoors or near a window.
• When using the system in a cold environment, you may notice
shadows on the graphics or the screen may appear darker than usual.
This is not a malfunction, and the screen will return to normal when
the temperature goes up.
• Do not leave still images displayed on the screen for an extended
period of time. This may cause a faint image to be left permanently
on the screen.
Do not touch the "pickup" located inside the disc cover of the system.
Touching the pickup may damage the system.
For best results, follow these guidelines:
• Do not touch the connector area (A) with your hands or with metal
objects.
• Do not press hard when writing on the memo area (B).
• Do not use or store a Memory Stick Duo™ in the following:
– Places subject to high temperatures, such as in a hot vehicle
– Locations exposed to direct sunlight
– Locations that are very humid or conducive to corrosion

• When using Memory Stick Duo™ media without an erasure
prevention switch, take care not to overwrite or delete data by
accident. If your Memory Stick Duo™ media has an erasure
prevention switch, you can prevent data from being saved, edited, or
deleted by setting the switch in the LOCK position.
Recorded data
Do not use the Memory Stick Duo™ in the following ways, as doing
so may result in data loss or corruption:
• Removing the Memory Stick Duo™ or turning off the system while
it is loading or saving data or being formatted.
• Using it in a location that is exposed to static electricity or electrical
interference.
• When placing the PSP® system in a commercially available case,
turn off the power or put the system in sleep mode. Do not use the
system while it is in the case. Leaving the system on, or using it while
in a case or covering may cause overheating or may damage the
system.
• Put both the PSP® system and the remote control in hold mode to
help prevent unintended operation.
Use the PSP
®
system and accessories according to the instructions in this
manual. No authorization for the analysis or modification of the system,
or the analysis and use of its circuit configurations, is provided.
Disassembling will void the system warranty. Additionally, there is a risk
of fire, electrical shock or malfunction. The LCD screen, in particular,
contains dangerous, high-voltage parts, and the laser beam for reading
UMD™ may cause visual impairment if exposed directly to the eyes.
When using the PSP® system's 'Scan' function to select a wireless LAN
access point, access points that are not intended for public use may be
displayed. Only connect to a personal access point that you are
authorized to use, or one that is available through a commercial
wireless LAN or hotspot service. User is responsible for all fees
associated with wireless LAN access.
If, for any reason, software or data loss or corruption occurs,
it is usually not possible to recover the software or data. It is
recommended that you regularly back up software and data.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and its subsidiaries and
affiliates will not be held liable for any damages or injury in
the case of software or data loss or corruption.
In accordance with copyright law, no recorded data may be
used for purposes other than personal enjoyment without
permission from the copyright holder.

Before use

Depending on the country, there are limitations on the use of certain
types of radio waves. In some cases, use of the system may lead to a
fine or other penalty.
If the PSP® system or UMD™ is brought directly from a cold location
to a warm one, moisture may condense on the lens inside the system or
on the UMD™. Should this occur, the system may not operate
properly. In this case, remove the UMD™ and turn off and unplug the
system. Do not put the UMD™ back in until the moisture evaporates
(this may take several hours). If the system still does not operate
properly, visit www.us.playstation.com/psp or contact our technical
support line at 1-800-345-7669 for assistance.
• Do not touch the opening on the rear of the disc (recorded surface of
the disc) with your fingers.
• Do not allow dust, sand, foreign objects or other types of dirt to get
on the disc.
• If the UMD™ becomes dirty, gently wipe the exterior and recorded
surfaces of the UMD™ using a soft cloth. Do not use solvents or
other chemicals.
• Do not use a UMD™ that is cracked or warped or has been repaired.
The UMD™ may break inside the PSP® system, leading to injury or
malfunction.
Follow the guidelines listed below to help avoid deterioration or
discoloration of the PSP® system:
• Do not use solvents or other chemicals to clean the exterior surface.
• Do not allow the system to remain in direct contact with rubber or
vinyl products for an extended period of time.
• Do not use a chemically-treated cleaning cloth to wipe off the
system.
For best results, go to (Settings) (System Settings) and
then with the "System Information" screen displayed, rotate the analog
stick in a circular motion. This will adjust the analog stick's range of
movement.
For safety reasons, unplug the AC power cord from the electrical outlet,
disconnect any other cables and remove the battery pack from the
system before cleaning.

Wipe gently with a soft cloth.
Cleaning the connectors
If the headphones or remote control connectors become dirty, this
could cause noise or interruptions in sound. Wipe the connectors with
a dry, soft cloth to keep in clean condition.

Battery pack precautions
Do not handle a damaged or leaking battery pack.
Handle the battery pack with care.
The battery pack may explode or present a fire or chemical burn hazard
if it is not handled carefully.
• Do not allow the battery pack to come into contact with fire or
subject it to extreme temperatures such as in direct sunlight, in a
vehicle exposed to the sun or near a heat source.
• Do not cause the battery pack to short-circuit.
• Do not disassemble or tamper with the battery pack.
• Prevent damage to the battery pack. Do not carry or store the battery
pack with metal items such as coins or keys. If damaged, discontinue
use.
• Do not throw or drop the battery pack or subject it to strong physical
shock.
• Do not put heavy objects on or apply pressure to the battery pack.
• Do not allow the battery pack to come into contact with liquids. If it
becomes wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
• Keep the battery pack out of the reach of small children.
• If the PSP® system will not be used for an extended period of time,
remove the battery pack and store it in a cool, dry place out of the
reach of children.
• Use only the supplied battery pack or a replacement marked for use
with the correct model of the PSP® system.
You can charge the battery using the AC adaptor or a USB cable (sold
separately). For details about how to charge the battery, refer to the
supplied Quick Reference manual.
Estimating the battery charge time
Figures shown are for when charging a battery with no charge remaining.
Hints
• Do not use the PSP® system with the AC adaptor when the battery pack is
not inserted in the system. If the AC adaptor is disconnected suddenly, it
may result in damage to the system.
• Charge in a temperature of 10°C to 30°C/50°F to 86°F. Charging may not
be as effective in other environments.
• Charging may take longer when the system is turned on during charging or
when a USB cable is used for charging.
• USB charging uses the power supply of the USB port of the connected
device. Charge the battery by connecting the PSP® system to a device
equipped with a high-power USB port. If a low-power USB port or a USB
hub is used, the battery may not be able to be charged.
• When the AC adaptor and a USB cable are connected to the PSP® system,
the battery is charged by the power supply of the AC adaptor.
• Do not use or charge the PSP® system with the battery cover removed. If
the battery is suddenly removed, the battery may be dropped and damaged,
which may cause a system malfunction.

Hint
Battery duration may vary depending on the type of content being played or
usage conditions such as screen brightness and environmental factors. As the
battery pack ages, it will have a shorter duration.
• The battery pack has a limited lifespan. Battery duration will
decrease with repeated usage and age. If the battery duration
becomes extremely short, it may be time to replace the battery pack.
• The battery pack lifespan varies depending on how it is stored, the
conditions of use and environmental factors, such as temperature.
• For safety reasons, turn off the system and remove the power cord
from the electrical outlet and disconnect any other cables before
replacing the battery pack.
• If the system is left unused after the battery charge runs out or the

Parallel data transfer (high-speed data transfer)
Parallel data transfer is a high-speed data-transfer technology that
allows multiple data input/output connectors on the Memory Stick™ to
be used at the same time (parallel interface). The PSP® system supports
4-bit parallel data transfer. However, the time required for reading/
writing differs according to the media in use.

The power does not turn on.
,The battery charge may have run out. Charge the battery.
,Check that the battery pack is properly inserted.
The battery does not charge, or does not fully recharge.
,When using the AC adaptor, check that the AC adaptor and the AC
power cord are properly inserted in the system and the electrical

,When using the USB cable, check that the USB cable is fully
inserted into the system and the USB device and that the USB

The screen suddenly turns dark.
,If "Backlight Auto-Off" under (Power Save Settings) has been
set, the LCD screen's backlight will automatically turn off if the
system is left inactive for the set amount of time.
,If "Auto Sleep" under (Power Save Settings) has been set, the
system will automatically enter sleep mode if left inactive for the
set amount of time.
The screen is dark and hard to see.
,Use the display button on the system front to adjust the brightness.
Black or continuously lit pixels on the screen do not
disappear.
,LCD screens are made with highly precise technology, but in some
cases, black (dark) pixels or continuously lit pixels may appear on
the screen. This is not a system malfunction. For details, see
"Precautions" ( page 7).

The color of the screen does not look right.
,If "Theme" under (Theme Settings) is set to "Original", the
background color will automatically change at the beginning of
each month.
Video cannot be output to the TV.
,Check that the video output cable is fully inserted into the system
and the TV.
,Video from games can be output only when the TV in use and the
cable connecting it support progressive mode screen display. Also,
video may not be able to be output to the TV for some functions
other than games.
,Some TVs may not be able to output video from the PSP® system.
When the PSP® system is connected to a TV, the screen
suddenly goes dark.
,If "Screensaver" under (Connected Display Settings) has
been set, the screensaver is automatically activated if no
operations are performed for a certain period of time.
There is no sound.
,Check that the volume is not set to zero. Try raising the volume.
,Check that the mute setting is not on. Press the sound button on the
system front to clear the mute setting.
,When headphones or a video output cable is connected, no sound
is output from the PSP® system speakers.
The volume does not turn up.
,If "AVLS" under (Sound Settings) is set to "On", the
maximum volume level is restricted.
,When a video output cable is connected, the volume cannot be
changed using the PSP® system's volume + button / volume -
button. Adjust the volume on the connected device.
No sound comes out from the headphones or noise is
emitted.
,Check that the headphones are fully inserted.
The system does not recognize the UMD™.
,Slide the POWER/HOLD switch up and hold it for at least three
seconds until the POWER indicator turns off. Power will be
completely cut off. After that, turn the system back on.
Upon starting a UMD™, a message recommending an
update is displayed.
,Update the system software. For details on updates, refer to the
Quick Reference booklet supplied with the system.
The Memory Stick Duo™ cannot be inserted.
,Set the Memory Stick Duo™ in the proper direction when

taking out the Memory Stick Duo™ and reinserting it.
The system can't save or load data.

,The playback methods may be limited for some music data that is

,Check that the music data is saved in the correct folder on the

,Music data of types that are not compatible with the system will
not be recognized.
,To play WMA format data, you must first activate "Enable WMA
Playback" under (System Settings).
Images do not display.
,Depending on the image data size, certain images are not
viewable.

,There may be too much distance between the system and the
access point or, when in ad hoc mode, the system and the other
player.
,Check that the network settings are correct. Refer to the
instructions supplied with the network equipment and by your
Internet service provider to make the correct network settings.
,Depending on the access point setting, you may need to enter the
system's MAC address. You can check the MAC address under
(System Settings) "System Information".
,When communicating with another system in ad hoc mode, both
systems must be set to the same channel. You can check the
currently set channel under (Network Settings) "Ad Hoc
Mode".
,If a device that causes radio interference such as a microwave oven
is nearby, system communications may not work properly.
The Web page won't display properly.
,Some Web pages may not display properly.
The system or AC adaptor is warm.
,During use, the system or AC adaptor may become warm. This is
not a malfunction.
,When the communication function is being used, the system may
become warmer than during normal use. This is not a malfunction.
The system is turned on, but does not operate.
,Check that the system is not in hold mode. If it is, slide the power/
hold switch up to clear hold mode.
The system does not function properly.
,Static electricity and other similar occurrences may affect the
system's operation. After unplugging the AC power cord from the
electrical outlet and disconnecting any other cables, remove the
battery pack and AC adaptor, wait for about 30 seconds and then
restart the system.
,Slide the POWER/HOLD switch up and hold it for at least three
seconds until the power indicator turns off. The system will be
completely turned off. Then turn on the system again.
The date and time are reset.
,If the battery is not recharged and runs out, or if the battery pack
is replaced, the system date and time settings may be reset. Follow
the on-screen instructions to set the time and date.
The PSP® system is not recognized by the PC when
connected using a USB cable.
,Is Memory Stick Duo™ media inserted in the PSP® system?
,Check that an operating system that supports USB mass storage
class is installed in the personal computer in use.
,When using a USB hub or other devices, depending on the
operating environment of the PC, the Memory Stick Duo™
inserted in the system may not be recognized by the PC. Try
connecting the system directly to the PC using a USB cable.
,If "USB Charge" under (System Settings) is set to "On", the
device may not be recognized.
,When a USB cable is used, select (USB Connection)
under (Settings) after connecting the PSP® system to the PC.
The connected USB device is not recognized by the PSP®
system.
,Check that the USB connector on the top of the system is clean.
Try wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.

You forgot your password.
,If you restore default settings under (System Settings)
"Restore Default Settings", the system password will be reset to
"0000". For details, refer to the user's guide ( page 6).
Note that if you restore default settings, settings you have adjusted
for options other than the system password will also be cleared.
Once cleared, these custom settings cannot be restored by the
system.
The analog stick does not function properly.
,At a scene where the symptoms appear, move the analog stick in a
circular motion. This will help you determine the optimum
operating range.
The PSP® system cannot communicate with another PSP®
system in ad hoc mode and communication is
disconnected.
,If "UMD™ Cache" under (System Settings) is set to "On,"
you may not be able to communicate properly.

jeux vidéo afin de réduire les probabilités
d'attaques
• Utilisez l'appareil dans une pièce bien éclairée et éloignez-vous
suffisamment de l'écran.
• Évitez toute utilisation prolongée du système PSP®. Interrompez-
vous 15 minutes toutes les heures.
• Évitez de jouer si vous êtes fatigué ou manquez de sommeil.
Les ondes radio peuvent affecter les appareils électroniques ou les
équipements électroniques médicaux (par exemple les stimulateurs
cardiaques) et risquent d'entraîner des pannes et des blessures.
• Si vous utilisez un stimulateur cardiaque ou tout autre appareil
médical, consultez votre médecin ou le fabricant de l'appareil avant

Avant d'utiliser ce produit, lisez attentivement ce mode d'emploi et

Ce produit a été conçu dans le souci d'offrir les meilleures garanties de
sécurité possibles. Cependant, tout dispositif électrique utilisé de façon
incorrecte risque de provoquer incendie, électrocution ou blessures.
Pour un fonctionnement en toute sécurité, veillez à respecter les points
suivants :
• Observez tous les avertissements, précautions et instructions.
• Inspectez régulièrement l'adaptateur AC et le cordon d'alimentation.
• Si l'appareil fonctionne de manière anormale ou s'il produit des sons
ou des odeurs anormales, ou s'il devient très chaud au toucher,
arrêtez immédiatement de l'utiliser, débranchez le cordon
d'alimentation de la prise électrique et débranchez tout autre câble.
• Si l'appareil ne fonctionne pas correctement, contactez notre ligne

• Utilisez l'appareil dans une pièce bien éclairée et éloignez-vous

fatigue des yeux, accordez-vous une pause d'environ 15 minutes
pendant chaque heure de jeu.
• Si vous rencontrez l'un des problèmes de santé suivants, arrêtez
immédiatement d'utiliser le système. Si les symptômes persistent,
consultez votre médecin.
– Vertiges, nausées, fatigue ou symptômes similaires au mal des
transports
– Sensation désagréable ou douleur dans une partie de votre corps,
telle que les yeux, les mains ou les bras
• Soyez vigilant lors du réglage du volume. Si le volume est trop élevé,
cela pourrait affecter votre audition ou endommager les haut-
parleurs.
• Maintenez le système et les accessoires hors de portée des jeunes
enfants. Les jeunes enfants risquent d'avaler le Memory Stick Duo™
ou d'enrouler les câbles/cordons autour d'eux, ce qui pourrait les
blesser ou encore provoquer un accident ou un dysfonctionnement.
• N'utilisez pas le système lorsque vous conduisez un véhicule ou
roulez à vélo. Regarder l'écran ou utiliser le système au volant ou à
vélo risque de provoquer un accident de la circulation.
• Soyez particulièrement prudent lorsque vous utilisez le système en
marchant.
• Veillez à ne pas vous pincer les doigts lorsque vous refermez le
couvercle du compartiment à disque.
• N'utilisez pas le système ou accessoires près de l'eau.
• Utilisez seulement les périphériques/accessoires désignés par le
fabricant.
• N'utilisez pas les écouteurs s'ils irritent la peau.
Dans ce cas, arrêtez immédiatement de les utiliser. Si les symptômes

• N'exposez pas le système ou ses accessoires à des températures
élevées, à une humidité excessive ou au rayonnement direct du
soleil.
• Ne laissez pas le système ou ses accessoires dans une voiture dont les
fenêtres sont fermées (particulièrement en été).
• N'exposez pas le système ou ses accessoires à la poussière, à la
fumée ou à la vapeur.
• Ne laissez pas de liquide ou de petits objets s'introduire dans le
système ou dans ses accessoires.
• Ne placez pas le système ou ses accessoires sur des surfaces
inclinées, instables ou soumises à des vibrations.
• Ne jetez pas, ne laissez pas tomber ou ne montez pas sur le système
ou ses accessoires et n'exposez pas ces dispositifs à de violents chocs
physiques. S'asseoir avec le système PSP® dans une poche ou le
placer au fond d'un sac à dos avec des objets lourds pourrait
l'endommager.
• Ne forcez pas le système PSP® ou ne l'exposez pas à des chocs
physiques pendant le jeu car cela pourrait l'endommager ou
provoquer l'ouverture du couvercle du compartiment à disque pour
ensuite éjecter le disque. Manipulez le pad analogique avec soin.
• Ne posez aucun objet lourd sur le système ou ses accessoires.
• Ne touchez pas les parties métalliques ou n'insérez pas de corps
étrangers dans les connecteurs du système ou de ses accessoires.
• Ne placez pas le système à proximité d'éléments équipés d'une bande
magnétique, tels que les cartes de crédit.
• Selon les conditions d'utilisation, le système ou l'adaptateur AC peut
atteindre des températures de 40 °C/104 °F ou supérieures. Ne
touchez pas le système ou l'adaptateur AC pendant une période
prolongée dans ces conditions. Un contact prolongé dans ces
conditions peut entraîner des brûlures de basse température*.
* Les brûlures de basse température sont des brûlures qui se produisent
lorsque la peau entre en contact avec des objets de températures
relativement faibles (40 °C ou plus /104 °F ou plus) pendant une période
prolongée.
• Lorsque vous connectez le système à un téléviseur à écran plasma ou
à projection*, ne laissez pas une image fixe affichée pendant trop
longtemps, car cela peut avoir un effet d'image rémanente sur l'écran.
* À l'exception des écrans de type LCD
• Ne touchez pas la fiche du cordon d'alimentation avec des mains
mouillées.
• Ne touchez pas le cordon d'alimentation, l'adaptateur AC ou le
système s'ils sont raccordés à une prise électrique pendant un orage.
• Comme source d'alimentation, utilisez uniquement le bloc-batterie,
l'adaptateur AC et le cordon d'alimentation fournis ou recommandés.
• Débranchez le cordon d'alimentation de la prise électrique,
débranchez tout autre câble et retirez le bloc-batterie du système
avant de le nettoyer ou lorsque vous n'avez pas l'intention d'utiliser
le système durant une période prolongée.
• Protégez le cordon d'alimentation afin d'éviter qu'il ne soit piétiné ou
pincé, tout particulièrement près des fiches, prises de courant et
points de sortie du système.
• Quand vous déconnectez le cordon d'alimentation, saisissez-le par la
fiche et retirez-le de la prise en tirant perpendiculairement à celle-ci.
Ne tirez jamais sur le cordon proprement dit et surtout pas de biais.
• N'utilisez pas le système pour regarder des vidéos ou jouer à des jeux
lorsque celui-ci ou son adaptateur AC sont recouverts de tout type de
tissus. Si vous souhaitez interrompre la lecture ou ranger
temporairement le système durant la lecture de jeux ou de vidéos,
mettez le système en mode veille avant de le placer dans l'étui ou la
housse. De plus, n'utilisez pas l'adaptateur AC lorsqu'il est recouvert
de tissu. Cela écartera les risques de surchauffe.

• Ne branchez pas le cordon d'alimentation sur un transformateur de
tension ou un convertisseur. Le raccordement du cordon
d'alimentation à un transformateur utilisé pour les voyages à
l'étranger ou à un adaptateur AC pour véhicule peut entraîner une
augmentation de la température au sein de cet accessoire et risque de
provoquer des brûlures ou une panne.
• La sortie de la prise de courant doit être installée près de
l'équipement et doit être facile d'accès.
• L'écran LCD est fait de verre et pourrait se fissurer sous une force
excessive.
• Des pixels noirs (sombres) ou encore des pixels constamment
allumés peuvent apparaître à certains endroits sur l'écran LCD.
L'apparition de telles taches est un phénomène normal associé aux
écrans LCD : il ne s'agit pas d'un dysfonctionnement du système. Les
écrans LCD utilisent une technologie de haute précision. Cependant,
il existe sur chaque écran un nombre minime de pixels sombres ou
allumés en continu. Par ailleurs, une image déformée peut rester
affichée à l'écran pendant plusieurs secondes après la mise hors
tension du système.
• L'exposition directe aux rayons du soleil peut endommager l'écran
LCD du système. Soyez prudent lors de l'utilisation du système à
l'extérieur ou à proximité d'une fenêtre.
• Lors de l'utilisation du système dans un environnement froid, il se
peut que vous constatiez la présence d'ombres sur les graphiques ou
que l'écran paraisse plus sombre que d'habitude. Il ne s'agit pas d'un
dysfonctionnement et l'écran redevient normal lorsque la
température augmente.
• Ne laissez pas des images fixes affichées à l'écran pendant une
période prolongée. Cela peut avoir un effet d'image rémanente sur
l'écran.
Ne touchez pas la "tête de lecture" située à l'intérieur du couvercle du
compartiment à disque du système. Toucher la tête de lecture risque
d'endommager le système.

• Ne touchez pas la zone des connecteurs (A) avec la main ou des
objets métalliques.
• N'appliquez pas de pression trop intense lors de l'écriture sur la zone
mémo (B).
• N'utilisez ou ne rangez pas de Memory Stick Duo™ aux endroits
suivants :
– Endroits soumis à des températures élevées, par exemple dans une
voiture garée en plein soleil
– Endroits exposés aux rayons directs du soleil
– Endroits très humides ou favorables à la corrosion
• Lorsque vous utilisez un support Memory Stick Duo™ dépourvu de
commutateur de protection contre l'effacement, veillez à ne pas
écraser ou supprimer fortuitement des données. Si votre support
Memory Stick Duo™ possède un commutateur de protection contre
l'effacement, vous pouvez empêcher l'enregistrement, la

Utilisez le système PSP
®
et ses accessoires conformément aux
instructions données dans ce mode d'emploi. Aucune autorisation pour
l'analyse ou la modification du système, ou pour l'analyse et l'utilisation
de ses circuits internes n'est fournie. Tout démontage en annule la
garantie. En outre, il existe un risque d'incendie, d'électrocution ou de
dysfonctionnement. En particulier, l'écran LCD contient des pièces sous
haute tension dangereuses et le faisceau laser pour la lecture de disques
UMD™ peut entraîner un affaiblissement de la vue en cas d'exposition
directe aux yeux.
Lorsque vous utilisez la fonction "Scan" du système PSP® pour
sélectionner un point d'accès de réseau local sans fil, des points d'accès
non destinés à l'usage commercial peuvent apparaître. Connectez-vous
uniquement à un point d'accès personnel dont vous détenez
l'autorisation d'accès, ou bien à un point d'accès disponible par le biais
d'un réseau commercial local sans fil ou d'un service hotspot.
L'utilisateur est responsable des frais associés à tout accès local sans fil.
Selon le pays, il peut exister des limitations concernant l'utilisation de
certains types d'ondes radio. Dans certains cas, l'utilisation du système
peut entraîner une amende ou d'autres peines.
Si vous transportez le système PSP® ou l'UMD™ directement d'un
endroit froid à un endroit chaud, de l'humidité risque de se condenser
sur l'objectif situé à l'intérieur du système ou sur l'UMD™. Si cela se
produit, il se peut que le système ne fonctionne pas correctement. Dans
ce cas, retirez l'UMD™, puis mettez le système hors tension et
débranchez-le. Ne le réintroduisez pas aussi longtemps que l'humidité
ne s'est pas évaporée (plusieurs heures peuvent être nécessaires). Si le
système ne fonctionne toujours pas correctement, consultez

• Ne touchez pas l'ouverture à l'arrière du disque (surface enregistrée

• N'utilisez pas de solvants ou d'autres produits chimiques pour
nettoyer la surface extérieure.
• Ne laissez pas le système en contact direct avec de l'adhésif ou des
produits en vinyle pendant une période prolongée.
• N'utilisez pas de chiffon de nettoyage traité chimiquement pour
essuyer le système.
Pour obtenir des résultats optimaux, accédez à (Paramètres)
(Paramètres système). Ensuite, lorsque l'écran "Informations
système" s'affiche, faites pivoter le pad analogique de manière
circulaire. Cela permet d'ajuster l'amplitude des mouvements du pad
analogique.
Pour des raisons de sécurité, débranchez le cordon d'alimentation de la
prise électrique, débranchez tout autre câble et retirez le bloc-batterie
du système avant de le nettoyer.
Nettoyage de la surface extérieure et de l'écran

Essuyez-le délicatement à l'aide d'un chiffon doux.
Nettoyage des connecteurs
Si les connecteurs des écouteurs et de la télécommande sont sales, cela
peut entraîner du bruit ou des interruptions dans le son. Essuyez les
connecteurs à l'aide d'un chiffon doux et sec pour les garder à l'état
propre.
Précautions relatives au bloc-batterie
Ne manipulez aucun bloc-batterie endommagé ou qui fuit.
Manipulez le bloc-batterie avec soin.
Le bloc-batterie pourrait exploser ou présenter un danger d'incendie ou
de brûlure chimique s'il n'est pas manipulé avec soin.
• Ne laissez pas le bloc-batterie entrer en contact avec le feu et ne le
soumettez pas à des températures extrêmes comme sous les rayons
directs du soleil, dans un véhicule exposé au soleil ou à proximité
d'une source de chaleur.
• Ne provoquez pas un court-circuit du bloc-batterie.
• Ne désassemblez ou ne trafiquez pas le bloc-batterie.
• Évitez tout dommage au bloc-batterie. Ne transportez ou ne stockez
pas le bloc-batterie avec des objets métalliques, tels que des pièces
de monnaie ou des clés. S'il est endommagé, cessez de l'utiliser.
• Ne lancez pas et ne faites pas tomber le bloc-batterie ou ne le
soumettez pas à un choc physique violent.
• Ne posez pas des objets lourds ou n'appliquez pas de pression sur le
bloc-batterie.
• Ne laissez pas le bloc-batterie entrer en contact avec des liquides. S'il
est mouillé, cessez de l'utiliser jusqu'à ce qu'il soit bien sec.

• Utilisez uniquement le bloc-batterie fourni ou un bloc-batterie de
rechange désigné pour une utilisation avec le modèle approprié de
système PSP®.
Vous pouvez charger la batterie à l'aide de l'adaptateur AC ou d'un
câble USB (vendu séparément). Pour savoir comment charger la
batterie, reportez-vous à l'Aide-mémoire fourni.
Estimation de la durée de charge de la batterie
Les valeurs indiquées concernent le chargement d'une batterie complètement
déchargée.
Conseils
• N'utilisez pas le système PSP® avec l'adaptateur AC en l'absence du bloc-
batterie. Si l'adaptateur AC est soudainement débranché, il risque
d'endommager le système.
• Chargez la batterie à une température comprise entre 10 °C et 30 °C/50 °F
et 86 °F. Sinon, la charge risque d'être moins efficace.
• Le chargement peut durer plus longtemps lorsque le système est sous
tension durant le chargement ou lorsqu'un câble USB est utilisé pour le
chargement.
• Le chargement à l'aide d'un câble USB utilise la source d'alimentation du
port USB du périphérique connecté. Chargez la batterie en raccordant le
système PSP® à un périphérique équipé d'un port USB haute puissance. Si
vous utilisez un port USB basse puissance ou un concentrateur USB, la
batterie risque de ne pas pouvoir être chargée.
• Lorsque l'adaptateur AC et un câble USB sont connectés au système PSP®,
la batterie est chargée par l'alimentation de l'adaptateur AC.
• N'utilisez pas ou ne chargez pas le système PSP® sans couvercle de la
batterie. Si vous retirez brusquement la batterie, elle risque de tomber et
d'être endommagée, ce qui peut entraîner un dysfonctionnement du
système.

L'autonomie de la batterie peut varier selon le type de contenu lu ou les
conditions d'utilisation telles que la luminosité de l'écran et des facteurs
environnementaux. À mesure que le bloc-batterie vieillit, son autonomie se
réduit.
• Le bloc-batterie possède une durée de vie limitée. L'autonomie du
bloc-batterie diminue au fur et à mesure des utilisations et au fil du
temps. Si le bloc-batterie s'épuise très rapidement, il peut être temps
de le remplacer.

• La durée de vie du bloc-batterie dépend de la manière dont il est
stocké, des conditions d'utilisation et de facteurs environnementaux,
tels que la température.
• Pour des raisons de sécurité, mettez le système hors tension et retirez
le cordon d'alimentation de la prise électrique et débranchez tout
autre câble avant de replacer le bloc-batterie.
• Si le système demeure inutilisé après que la charge de la batterie se
soit épuisée ou que le bloc-batterie ait été retiré, les paramètres de
date et d'heure risquent d'être réinitialisés. Dans ce cas, l'écran de
réglage de la date et de l'heure s'affiche lors de la prochaine mise sous
tension du système PSP®.
Si vous avez l'intention de ne pas utiliser le système pendant une
période prolongée, retirez le bloc-batterie. Rangez-le dans un endroit
frais et sec, hors de la portée des enfants.
Les accumulateurs aux ions de lithium sont
recyclables.
