All menus or functions may not be available in your phone. Consult your network operator for more information. 3Preparing the phoneTo insert the SIM card and battery1Remove the battery cover. Slide the SIM card into its holder with the contacts facing down.2Insert the battery with the label side up and the connectors facing each other. Replace the battery cover as shown in the picture.Do not force the battery cover into place. Place the battery cover carefully onto the phone and close it.4To charge the battery1The phone battery is partly charged when you buy it. Connect the charger to the phone. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery. Press a key to illuminate the screen.2To remove the charger, tilt the plug upwards.You can use the phone during charging. You can charge the battery for more or less than 2.5 hours. Interrupted charging will not damage the battery. 5To turn on the phone1Press and hold down .2Enter your PIN if requested. To correct mistakes, press .3Select OK.4Select a language.5Enter the time and date and select Save.To turn off the phone•Press and hold down .StandbyAfter you have turned on the phone and entered your PIN, the name of your operator appears on the screen. This is called standby. You can now make and receive calls.6SIM and PINSIM card The SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, which you get from your network operator, contains information about your subscription. Always turn off your phone and detach the charger before you insert or remove the SIM card. PIN codeYou may need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to activate the services in your phone. Your PIN is supplied by your network operator. Each PIN digit appears as *, unless it starts with emergency number digits, for example, 112 or 911. You can call an emergency number without entering a PIN.You can save contacts on the SIM card before removing it from your phone. Contacts may also be saved in the phone memory. See Contacts on page 15.If you enter the wrong PIN three times in a row, PIN blocked. To unblock, enter your PUK code provided by your network operator. appears. Use Concert sound for a better listening experience.Use Volume boost in noisy environment to maximize the volume from the loudspeaker.Adjust the volume cautiously when using Volume boost to avoid volume levels that could damage your hearing.Select Options > Settings > Record quality and select between Normal quality or High quality.This service is not available in all countries. Where available, you may only use this service for playback at a more convenient point in time.20To set the radio as alarm signal1From standby select Menu > Organizer > Alarms.2Scroll to an alarm and select Edit.3Scroll to the tab.4Scroll to Alarm signal: > Edit.5Select Radio. The latest used radio channel will be used as alarm signal.6Select Save.To exit the radio•When the radio is playing, press .To minimize the radio on the screen•Select Options > Minimize.•To restore the radio on the screen, from standby press .To turn off the radio when minimized•From standby press and press .Keep the handsfree inserted when you select radio as alarm signal. The radio alarm signal will sound through the loudspeaker.21MessagingText messages (SMS)You must have a service centre number, which is supplied by your service provider and saved on the SIM card. You may have to enter the number yourself.To set service centre number1From standby select Menu > Messaging > Settings > Text message > Service centre. The number is shown if it is saved on the SIM card.2If there is no number shown, enter the service centre number, including the international “+” sign and country code.3Select Save.To write and send a text message1From standby press .2Select Text message. Enter the message and select Cont.3Select a recipient (Enter phone no. or Contacts look-up) and select Send.To view a received text message1Text message received appears.
