Getting startedAssemblyBefore you start using your phone, youneed to insert a SIM card and thebattery.To insert the SIM card1Unlock the battery cover locks on bothsides.2Remove the battery cover.3Slide the SIM card into its holder withthe gold-coloured contacts facingdown.To insert the battery1Insert the battery with the label side upand the connectors facing each other.2Slide the battery cover into place andlock it.Getting started 5
Turning on the phoneTo turn on the phone1Press and hold down  .2Enter your SIM card PIN, if requestedand select OK.3Select a language.4Select Yes to use the setup wizardwhile settings are downloaded.If you want to correct a mistake when youenter your PIN, press  .SIM cardThe SIM (Subscriber Identity Module)card, which you get from your networkoperator, contains information aboutyour subscription. Always turn off yourphone and detach the charger beforeyou insert or remove the SIM card.You can save contacts on the SIM cardbefore you remove it from your phone.See To copy names and numbers to theSIM card  on page 20.PINYou may need a PIN (PersonalIdentification Number) to activate theservices in your phone. Your PIN issupplied by your network operator.Each PIN digit appears as *, unless itstarts with emergency number digits,for example, 112 or 911. You can seeand call an emergency number withoutentering a PIN.If you enter the wrong PIN three times ina row, the SIM card is blocked. See SIMcard lock on page 61.Startup screenThe startup screen appears when youturn your phone on. See Usingpictures on page 38.StandbyAfter you have turned your phone onand entered your PIN, the name of thenetwork operator appears. This view iscalled standby.6Getting started

Ittakes approximately 2.5 hours to fullycharge the battery. Press a key to viewthe screen.2Remove the charger by tilting the plugupwards.You can use your phone while it ischarging. Files are saved on the memorycard first and then in the phonememory. Unrecognized files are savedin the Other folder.You can create subfolders to move orcopy files to.
