Always pay full attention to driving and pull off theroad and park before making or answering a call ifdriving conditions so require.GPS/Location based functionsSome products provide GPS/Location basedfunctions. Location determining functionality isprovided “AS IS” and “WITH ALL FAULTS”. SonyEricsson does not make any representation orwarranty as to the accuracy of such locationinformation.Use of location-based information by the devicemay not be uninterrupted or error free and mayadditionally be dependent on network serviceavailability. Please note that functionality may bereduced or prevented in certain environments suchas building interiors or areas adjacent to buildings.Caution: Do not use GPS functionality in a mannerwhich causes distraction from driving.Emergency callsMobile phones operate using radio signals, whichcannot guarantee connection in all conditions. Youshould therefore never rely solely upon any mobilephone for essential communications (e.g. medicalemergencies).Emergency calls may not be possible in all areas, onall cellular networks, or when certain networkservices and/or mobile phone features are in use.Check with your local service provider.AntennaThis phone contains a built-in antenna. Use ofantenna devices not marketed by Sony Ericssonspecifically for this model could damage your mobilephone, reduce performance, and produce SARlevels above the established limits (see below).Efficient useHold your mobile phone as you would any otherphone. Do not cover the top of the phone when it isin use, as this affects call quality and may cause thephone to operate at a higher power level thanneeded, thus shortening talk and standby times.Radio frequency (RF) exposure andSpecific Absorption Rate (SAR)Your mobile phone is a low-power radio transmitterand receiver. When it is turned on, it emits low levelsof radio frequency energy (also known as radiowaves or radio frequency fields).Governments around the world have adoptedcomprehensive international safety guidelines, developed by scientific organizations, e.g. ICNIRP(International Commission on Non-IonizingRadiation Protection) and IEEE (The Institute ofElectrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.), throughperiodic and thorough evaluation of scientificstudies. These guidelines establish permitted levelsof radio wave exposure for the general population. The levels include a safety margin designed toassure the safety of all persons, regardless of ageand health, and to account for any variations inmeasurements.Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit ofmeasurement for the amount of radio frequencyenergy absorbed by the body when using a mobilephone. The SAR value is determined at the highestcertified power level in laboratory conditions, but theactual SAR level of the mobile phone while it isoperating can be well below this value. This isbecause the mobile phone is designed to use theminimum power required to reach the network.Variations in SAR below the radio frequencyexposure guidelines do not mean that there arevariations in safety. While there may be differencesin SAR levels among mobile phones, allSony Ericsson mobile phone models are designedto meet radio frequency exposure guidelines.Important information 71
