Set up your phoneThe first time you start your phone, a setup guideexplains basic phone functions and helps you enteressential settings. With theaccount, you can extend the functionality of thephone by downloading applications and gamesfrom a constantly growing collection at AndroidMarket™. You need to have Internet access formany of the features in Android.Accounts and servicesUse online services in your phone. Sign in with yourexisting account or sign up and create an account. Google™ accountUse Gmail™ to send emails, Google Talk™ to chatwith friends, and Android Market™ to downloadapplications. Sony Ericsson accountStore your phone contacts on a secure SonyEricsson server, and you'll always have a backuponline. Exchange Active Sync accountSynchronise your phone with your corporateExchange Active Sync account. This way, you keepyour work email, contacts and calendar events withyou at all times.To add an account1From your Home screen, tap  .2Tap Settings > Accounts & sync > Addaccount.3Tap the account type you want to add and thenfollow the registration wizard.
Getting contacts into yourphoneThe first time you open the Contacts application, youget hints on how to start adding contacts to yourphone. This is a good time to choose a method thatsuits your situation and setup. View all importoptions on www.sonyericsson.com/support/contacts. Here are two recommended options:Synchronise your phone with contactsalready stored with an online synchronisationservice, such as Sony Ericsson Sync orGoogle Sync™.Import contacts from a SIM card. You maynot be able to transfer all information fromone phone to another using this methodbecause of limited memory on the SIMcard.To synchronise your phone contacts with asynchronisation account1From your Home screen, tap  , then tap  .2Press  , then tap Settings > Accounts &sync.3To set up a synchronisation account, tap Addaccount and follow the on-screen instructions. Ifyou have already set up a synchronisation accountand you want to sync with that account, tap theaccount, press  , and tap Sync now.To import contacts from a SIM card1From your Home screen, tap  , then tap  .2Press  , then tap Import contacts > SIMcard.3If you have set up a synchronisation account, youcan choose to add the SIM card contacts underthat account. Or you can choose to only use thesecontacts in the phone. Select your desired option.4To import an individual contact, find and tap thecontact. To import all contacts, press  , then tapImport all.
Finding your wayHome screenYour phone Home screen is the equivalent of thedesktop on a computer. For example, theMusic player widget allows you to start playingmusic directly and the Sony Ericsson Timescape™widget displays incoming messages.Application screenThe Application screen, which you open from yourHome screen, contains the applications that comeinstalled with your phone as well as the applicationsyou download.The Application screen extends beyond the regularscreen width, so you need to flick left and right toview all content.

For example, there are applicationsto make calls, take photos and download moreapplications.Status and notificationsThe status bar at the top of your screen showswhat's going on in your phone. For example, newmessage and calendar notifications appear here.Checking notifications andongoing activitiesYou can drag down the status bar to open theNotification panel and get more information. Forexample, open a new message or view a calendarevent from the Notification panel. You can also openrunning applications, such as the music player.
