This User guide focuses on use with a Sony Ericsson mobile phone.Charging the headsetBefore using the VH310 for the first time, you need to charge it with the supplied charger or your phone charger, see figure 6. For compatible chargers, see figure 6.Charging status•Red light indicates charging (not ready), •Green light indicates completed charging (ready).Turning on and off the headsetTo turn on the headset•Press and hold down the action key (see figure 1) until the indicator light shows a steady green light. After 3 seconds, the light turns off and the headset is on.To turn off the headset•Press and hold down the action key until the indicator light shows a steady green or red light. If the light is red, the headset needs charging). After 2 seconds, the light turns off and the headset is off.Pairing the headsetBefore you can use the headset it has to be paired once with your phone. To pair the headset with your phone1. Make sure the headset is turned off.2.  Turn on the Bluetooth function in the phone. For instructions, see the phone User guide.3.  Place the phone within 20 cm (8 inches) of the headset.4.  Press and hold down the action key until the indicator light flashes green and red alternately.5.  The first time you turn on the headset it automatically enters pairing mode.6.  In your phone: Search for and add a new device.7.  The headset passcode is 0000.To pair the headset with another phone1. Make sure the headset is turned off.2.  Repeat the instructions for how to pair the headset with your phone.Putting on the headsetYou can either use the headset with or without the ear hook.To put on the headset•Slide the ear hook behind your right ear and point the microphone towards your mouth. See figure 3-4.CallingWhen you have paired the headset with your phone, you can make and receive calls as long as the headset is turned on.Solid objects, walls and a greater distance than 5 metres (16.5 feet) can affect the sound quality negatively.To make a call•Use the phone keys to dial the number as normal. The call is automatically activated in the headset.To end a call•Press the action key briefly.To answer a call•Press the action key briefly.To reject a call (not possible with a second incoming call)•Press and hold down the action key until you hear a short beep (after 2 seconds).To redial the last number•Double-click the action key.To answer a second call•Press the action key briefly. The ongoing call is put on hold. To switch between two calls•Press and hold down the action key until you hear a beep.To adjust the speaker volume•During a call, press a volume key on the phone.Calling using voice commandsVoice commands can be useful when you are using the headset and the phone is not close to you. For more information on voice commands, see your phone User guide.To make a call using voice commands•Press the action key briefly, wait for a beep and say your command.Note: Make sure voice commands are enabled and recorded in your phone before you use them.Transferring soundTo transfer sound from the phone to the headset•During a call, press the action key briefly. It may need to be recharged a number of times.When the battery needs charging, the indicator light flashes red and you hear a low beep.
