KIRK Base Station 12
1.9 GHz
User Guide
1 Introduction
The base station is only intended for use with a
wireless server. The base station must be connected
to a LAN or Ethernet Network. The base station is
designed with two internal antennas and supports
antenna diversity. The base station is also able to
carry out a handover between the RF channels
under the same base station, and handles 11 speech
channels simultaneously. The base station is able to
frame synchronize with other base stations under
the same wireless server.
Transmission lenght is up to 100 meters/329 feet,
according to IEEE 802.3u, on a twisted pair (in one
building), e.g. cat.5e, between the base station and
wireless server. The base station is also power supplied from this connection (maximum power supply
consumption 3.0 W according to PoE 802.3af). The
radius of coverage is up to 600 meters/1960 feet
with a handset in free sight.
2 Installation
First you have to determine where to install the base
station to have the right coverage. The average coverage within buildings is 75 meters/246 feet, under
normal conditions 50 meters/164 feet. The coverage depends on the construction of the building,
architecture and choice of buildings materials. You
may have to use the Deployment Kit to optimize
your installation.
The base station is to be mounted vertically on the
wall.
To mount the base station on the wall:
Mount the base station onto the wall using the
anchors and screws accompanying the product.
Note: When you place the base station on the
screws, ensure that the screws do not touch the
printed circuit board.
Connect the RJ45 plug to the ethernet connector at the bottom of the base station.
For further information and technical support
please refer to our web address
www.spectralink.com.
3 Configuration
Configure the base station for your VoIP
Network.
Connect the base station to a PoE power source
either using a standard PoE adapter or using a
PoE-enabled port on a switch.
The base station is pre-configured with the IP
address: 192.168.0.1. Connect a PC to the base
station either using a standard patch cable, or a
cross-over patch cable, or through a network
with identical net mask, e.g. the IP address:
192.168.0.2 and Sub-net mask: 255.255.255.0.
3
The system is now ready to be reached with a
standard web browser. Log in using:
Default user name: admin
Default password: ip6000
Change the IP address to fit your VoIP Network.
Change user name and password.
Connect base station to a Wireless Server
6000
Configure the base station to connect to the
Wireless Server 6000 on your VoIP Network.
This is done in Configuration menu (web
based Administration Page).
