1IntroductionThe base st ation is only intended for use with a wire -less server .  The base st ation is not intended to beconnected directly to the PSTN network.  The basest ation is designed with two internal antennas andsupport s antenna diversity.  The base station is alsoable to carry out handover between the RF channelsunder the same base st ation, and handles four wire -less speech channels simult aneously.  The base st ati -on is able to frame synchronise with other base st ati -ons under the same Wireless Server.T ransmission lenght is up to 1.2 miles on a twistedp air (in one building), e.g. cat.4, between the basest ation and wireless server .  The base st ation is alsopower supplied from this connection (maximum sup -ply 1.5 W).  The radius of coverage is up to 1960 feetwith a handset in free sight. It is possible to connecta maximum of 8 base st ations to a wireless serverwithout an exp ansion board, 16 base st ations with anexpansion board and 32 with a linked solution.2 Inst allationFirst you have to determine where to inst all the basest ation to have the right coverage.  The averagecoverage within buildings is 246 feet.  The coveragedepends on the construction of the building, archite -cture and choice of building material.  Y ou may haveto use the base st ation coverage determination kit(Diagnostic  Tooll) to optimize your inst allation.  ThisDiagnostic  Tool, consist s of a base st ation which hasno need for a wireless server . It can easily bemoved around in the building and 1 to 8 handset scan be connected.Pull the a/b wire from your inst allation through thewall suspension and then mount the wall suspensionon the wall.Connect the a/b wire to the plug at the rear of thebase st ation, using the 2 inner connectors of theplug.KIRK_BS_1G9_141432.qxp  03-08-2005  12:35  Side 2
If you need to remove the base st ation please sep a-rate it from the wall suspension with a gentle push ofa screwdriver.Click the base st ation on to the wall suspension.Af ter the wireless server is powered up again a cablelenght measurement is needed in order to find thecorrect Cable Delay Value (CDV).NOTE! Power failureIn the event of a power failure, you cannot use thewireless solution to make or receive callsNOTICESNOTICE: Before inst alling this equipment, users sho -uld ensure that it is permissible to be connected tothe facilities of the local telecommunications comp a -ny.  The equipment must also be inst alled using anaccept able method of connection.  The customer sho -uld be aware that compliance with the above conditi -ons may not prevent degradation of service in somesituations.Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinatedby a represent ative designated by the supplier .  Anyrep airs or alterations made by the user to this equi -pment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the tele -communications company cause to request the userto disconnect the equipment.Users should ensure for their own protection that theelectrical ground connections of the power utility,telephone lines and internal met allic water pipesystem, if present, are connected together.  This pre -caution may be p articularly import ant in rural areas.CAUTIONS:  Users should not attempt to make suchconnections themselves, but should cont act theappropriate electric inspection authority, or electrici -an, as appropriate.If your telephone equipment causes harm to the tele -phone network, the telephone operator may ask youto disconnect the system from the line until the pro -blem has been corrected or they may discontinueyour service temporarily. If possible, they will notifyyou in advance, But if advance notice is not practi -cal, you should be notified as soon as possible. These limit sare designed to provide reasonable protection aga -inst harmful interference in a residential inst allation.This equipment generates, uses and can radiateradio frequency energy and, if not inst alled and usedin accordance with the instructions, may causeharmful interference to radio communications.However, there is no guarantee that interference willnot occur in a p articular inst allation. LIMITED WARRANTYThis limited, non-transferable warranty is provided tothe original purchaser .  The product is warranted tobe free from defect s in materials and workmanshipunder normal inst allation, use and service for a peri -od of one (1) year from the date of purchase asshown on the purchaser s receipt. Our obligation under this warranty is limited to rep airor replacement (at our option) of the product or anyp art(s) which are defective provided that the productis returned to the original place of purchase or anauthorized service location during the warranty peri -od. Product s returned must be accomp anied by acopy of the purchase receipt. In the absence of apurchase receipt, the warranty period shall be one(1) year from the date of manufacture. Rep air orreplacement of the product is your sole and exclusi -ve remedy.If the product is rep aired, reconditioned componentpart s or materials may be used. If the product isreplaced, we may replace it with a new or reconditio -ned product of the same or similar design. Appropriate RF safty/inst allationinformation The Base Station is intended to be inst alled byauthorized personal.   The Base Station shall beinst alled in accordance with FCC rules.
