MP3, short for MPEG-1, AUDIO LAYE R 3 (an audio subset of an industry standard referr ed to as the Mov ing Pic ture Ex perts G roup), is a digital audio compression algorithm that achieves a compression factor of about 12:1 while preserving sound quality. MP3 is an open form at for making large music files smaller without radically degrading their audio quality. It is widely r ecognized as the most popular format for storing music on the World Wide Web and other components of the Internet. In addition, i t is an efficient way to store music or other audio content on your com pu ter. MP3 files can be anywhere from 1/4 to 1/20 the size of a commercial CD audio file, while retaining a high sound quality. These files have the extension of *.mp3 and can be downloaded from the Internet. They can als o be conver ted for pers onal use from y our library of fav orite CD's. The MP- 2000's solid-s tate design makes it impervious to the s kipping and jitter experienced with portable CD players. Inserting T he Flash M em ory C ard S T ER EO Turn off th e power by press ing and holding the Stop Button (â– ) for 2 seconds. Insert the MultiMedia card into the M MC slot (figure 1). E jecting The Flash M em o ry C ard Eject button If you have a MultiMedia Card inserted into the MP -2000 player, rem ov e it by pressing the E ject Button (figures 2 & 3). Caution : Do not remove the MultiMedia Card while unit is on, or damage to the unit and/or MM C could result. C O N N EC TIN G TH E M P- 2000 TO YO U R P C To transfer MP3 files between your P C (personal computer) and the M P-2000, you mus t connect the two as s hown below. D o this prior to using the MPDJ Downloade r. Connec t the supplied PC connecting cable to your computer 's paralle l printer port. Note: T he MP -2 000 connector is keyed and will accept the P C Connec tor Cable only if prope rly oriented (meta l side up). Connec t the PC ca ble to the MP-2000 by p ress ing in the lock/release tab s on each side and inserting the connector into the MP-2000 plug . Release the side tabs . Turn on the MP- 2000 by pressing the Play button ( ).
